Peter Hickman has become the first person ever to officially clock 200mph through the Sulby Speed Trap!

The ability to pick a line and wrestle a two wheeled missile to exactly where you want it is just off the scale skilful and unbelievably courageous. What faith they have in their ability and machine. These are the only true gladiators in the modern world. Massive respect for all of those who enter this incredible spectacle whether they finish first or last, I salute them all.
Well those of us that ride don't look at like wrestle ,more like guide it, ride it.

Well said. Last year I got a triskelion tattoo, the 3 legged part of their flag in respect. Those of us that have RACED have nothing but respect for the courage these guys have. It's one thing on a race track, but nothing like walls and houses and trees to get impaled by.

I’ve been watching the Isle Of Man races for decades and I never get used to the speed the go through these small towns at. I’ve been riding motorcycles since the late 60’s and it still blows me away.
They are professional road racers with tremendous courage on race prepared bikes. Most have an excellent knowledge of the course. Lets be honest these guys are supermen. There is a world of difference to riding on busy public roads where the unexpected can happen at any second.

Peter is surely in a class of his own. Without sounding disrespectful to other road racers , wow! I always thought he had more in the tank. I reckon he saw Micheal Dunlop was going quick and seemed really up for it and put this down as his own marker. Massive respect to mr Hickman. I was watching documentary about him last week ,he’s such a calm ,intelligent fella. Very thoughtful and not a bit cocky ,or arrogant. It’s a pleasure to see him race. All the very best to you over on the island this year ,in fact all the very best to all riders/racers at TT. 👍

I’m not sure you can make that statement when MD was the fastest on that day and unofficially broke Hickmans lap record.

You wouldn't think you could pick any difference in the speed of the different Bikes @ 200 MPH But he surely stands out here !
I can’t believe the speeds those racers can carry .unbelievable skills . Each racer one is a champion !
Thank you all that upload these videos for us that can't come to watch the race live . I hope to someday to come and see the tt in person but for now watching you tube will have to do for now .
This is a riding skill at a level that GP racers can only dream of.
I agree moto gp Phillip island 355 km per hour at the end of the main straight but gravel traps barriers ect, through small towns at these speeds is insane bloody big wedding potatoes.

I hope & it’s been in the back of my mind I would love to see Peter Hickman win the ion Tt this year who knows but he is a legendary rider

Every one of these guys from 1 st to last brave and incredible men.
Les vitesses augmentent et le temps au chrono diminue petit à petit. Seul le talent du pilotage sur ce TT et la technologie restent de plus en plus efficace contre le ⏱ chronomètre. En 2023 🏍️ c'était vraiment un chouette TT 🇮🇲, beau temps et un Peter vraiment très fort. On oublie pas les autres concurrents, qui ne déméritent absolument pas. A 200 /250 cela reste déjà assez spectaculaire... Mais à 325 km/h en vitesse de pointe c'est vraiment de l' exceptionnel pour ces superbikes 🏍️ ! Bravo à tous et toutes . Phil 🏍️ 1000 gsxr r L8 🇨🇵.

I ride an H2, which ain't slow and I get nervous above 150mph on the straight! These guys and girls are superhuman!

Incredible bravery- the only thing I would be thinking is What if someone walked out from the sidelines- or wildlife?? Respect to them
It has happened with a horse iirc and birds. Not pleasant for either party.
@@barking_mad6649The horse was spooked by a rescue helicopter landing near it. The horse bolted and finished up on the road where it got hit by a bike.
I have been 150 mph in a car & thought that was crazy..These guys are Nuts ...so cool 😊.

Hey you wanna race a circuit that the only year without a fatality or fatalities was in 1982? Sounds like fun when do we go? Crazy crazy crazy That's why I am a Moped racer 125cc class if I crash it's more funny than scary, I did scratch my knee which really hurt
High speeds aren't everything, at the IOM TT where slower-moving competitors are just as exciting to watch as the course is so demanding of rider and machine. Modern TT riders and machines are phenomenal in their performance and abilities. However, for how much longer can we expect higher speeds and record-breaking performances as each new TT season comes to an end. Does the thrill of racing always depend on ever-increasing speeds? Are we in danger of expecting riders to take too higher risks to enhance our enjoyment?
The crew who fix potholes and patch the road throughout the year must be highly paid specialists- as opposed to shovel leaners - to be trusted to keep these road hazard free.
MIND THE SPEED BUMPS.
Put Peter and Michael on equal bikes and there would be nothing between them.

They don't. The fast riders have caught up with the last riders off the line. All the riders must meet strict lap times to qualify, and it's 10% of the best riders lap. So if the best rider does the circuit in 13 minutes, all other competitors must do it within a 10% time of him/her. In other words 1.3 mins of the best time = 14.3 mins. You fail to qualify for the race at 14.4 secs! The TT is the worlds fastest and most professional road race. Nowhere else in the world do you see these speeds and lap times, that's why these guys are so good, not just good, brilliant.

Yes it's a time trial, but at 10 sec intervals, of course the highly talented guys are going to catch up with each other etc. The Irish road races are proper races, i.e, 10 bikes lined up and off the go, followed by another 10, 10 secs later. Irish road raciing is very entertaining, lots of "privateers" and of course, plenty of them in the TT this year too.
I'm surprised there's dust on the road in the first seconds of the video 🫣
