@PuppetFPV haha I just had my first failsafe a few days ago. Thankfully I fixed it by just forcing 5ghz and only using 5ghz antenna. I'd definitely invest in a different radio if I could go back in time though. 😔
❤ this was great! I have the avata 2 and I’m thinking about jumping to this same drone, was awesome seeing the OSD , it definitely made me want to jump to that drone. And I will fly avata when need longer flight time.
I have the squashed X version of this drone and fly 1400mah batteries. It is a screamer! If you are not ripping too hard the 1400mah battery can give you almost 10 mins of flight. Like your videos. keep it up!
Thinking about doing the same. Besides the drone, what else do you have to buy to go from the Avata to the Nazgul? Which charger? Which battery? Anything else?
I just had the same experience going from my Avata to a Nuzgul. It's really addicting to have the power even for shorter flights. Did your batteries ever break in for longer flights?
I continue to “follow in your footsteps”: while my Avata is off for repair (“ESC error. Propulsion System error” after a trivial crash flying in manual mode) I, too, decided to get a “real” FPV - that would work with my existing goggles and controller. Thanks for sharing all your experiences and learning!
@@ChadB Like I said... "following in your footsteps". :D I was on the fence between the GERPC Mark5 or the Nazgul Evoque - something with the DJI O3 Air Unit compatible with my Goggles 2 and RC 2 from the Avata. Your (I would say 'favorable') review in the video above, along with a fair bit of other research - led me to order the Nazgul. I opted for the 'free' shipping instead of paying an additional $35 - so we'll see which arrives first: the new Nazgul or the repaired Avata. Did you opt for the GPS option? A new remote with ELRS will improve your flying! I come from the Avata to the same nazgul, but with ELRS and got the radiomaster boxer. It's sooooo much nicer!
Hi chad and thanks for sharing your experience. What controller would you personally recommend for someone whose just starting fpv? I'd like to get a controller first and spend some time in the simulator. I hear about the tango 2 pro and the dji fpv remote controller mode 2 a lot. Would love your input? Thanks
I only have the DJI remote 2 for now, so I couldn't recommend any other remote. They say the DJI remote 2 is not that great for FPV. I've just gotten used to it. It all depends on the drone you intend to buy. I also purchased my remote first but planned on buying the DJI Avata. I've heard good things about the Tango 2.
I am at this same point now, leaving the Avata-2 behind and moving on to the iFlight Nazgul Eco 5 with O3 unit. I have it all set up but i have yet to make my first flight (got it yesterday). Very nervous actually but I have 200 hours in 'Liftoff' and I've flown the Avata-2 in Manual Mode hundreds of times so that's not the problem :)
Nicee!! 😍👏🏼 I just bought a Nazgul ECO and I've only flown the dji avata2 so far, so I’m anxious and a little bit afraid too 😂. Let’s see how it will be
Morning Chad! Hey when your flying a drone that uses the dji air 3 , where you can use the dji controller and goggles, are there no fly zones? And does it have a SD card?
Great video Chad! Did you buy the drone with de PNP protocol and just bind the controller and goggles to de O3? I´m looking to move from the avata to a 5 inch freestyle.
I have this drone hooked up to the Goggles V2 but I don't get and of the telemetry that you're getting, like the distance, altitude, flight time, or GPS arrow. Any advice?
I dontk now if you mentioned it but whta sort of lfight time's are you seeing with your setup there. Looking at basically the identical thing. I like some Freestyle, but im by no means a freestyle person, just curious as to what times you would see with rather sedate flights w/ certain batteries. I know this varies heavily based on your control during each particular flight.

There's a couple of things you need to set up in Beta flight. I have GPS rescue, so I needed to set that up. Also, needed to program the mode buttons on the DJI remote 2 and make sure it was working. Other than that, the goggles and remote are BNF with the O3Air Unit.

Welcome to "real" FPV! I had my first flight of a 5inch freestyle quad recently after flying micro FPV quads around and the power and speed was just as surprising... the crashing wasn't though haha... it took a few flights to get used to the power, but after using it for awhile going back to your Avata will feel really weird
Looks like you're getting right about 4 minutes of flight time....the Avata i believe does 10 plus minutes in Manual mode. The Nazgul is definitely faster....but many of the shots in this video could be achieved by the Avata. Would you say overall....its still worth switching...? Keeping in the mind the drastic flight time differences....and unless you are pushing the Nazgul to its limits with acro...it seems the Avata could pull off 90% of the footage from this video
Hi Chad, thanks for your video. It helped me decide to buy the same drone. You mentioned that this drone has alot of power. How did you tame it to suit the smooth flight? Thanks
I believe there's a couple of ways of doing so. First, the motors are rated for up to 6S, so I could have used a 4S battery instead of the 6S. It would have lessened the punch. Another is to reduce the max throttle output in Beta Flight. But we reduced the motor output by 25% in Beta Flight
Awesome drone awesome video! I want to build an Evoque but the 20x20 flight stack requirement which is really a dissapoint for me, but i guess it really doesnt matter, i just like to solder most of my wires but i dont want to solder a bunch of wires like for a GPS w/Mag to a 20mm FC is annoying and not even enjoyable.. For the video.. You should add the little throttle position number or whatever they call it in Betaflight to the bottom of your OSD, its cool to be able to see how much throttle is being applied at any moment..
I have an iFlight Nazgul5 V2 5” w/CRSF and I really do like it. I got the go pro mount also and beside it being slightly expensive for 3d printed shell and a bolt/nut but its nice and works well. Seems to be nice quality for the go pro fit fir sure. The drone flys nice but it does seem alittle top heavy with a battery installed and the go pro mount on, with my older GoPro5 which is pretty heavy. But it still flys great even on 4S, no shortage of power lol i love it. Going to have to install the o3 air unit i have already, bc of analog video connection issues with the goggles. Bad stock vtx. But also old outdated goggles. I don’t mind analog and I figured id learn on analog to not break my O3 camera or anything but its going to cost me a nice set of analog FPV googles with ideally an external RX module like Fat Shark, HDZero, etc ($200-$600) But thats more expensive than the whole O3 air unit kit cost me from dji’s website lol
Hey Brian... sorry, I don't plan to sell the Avata. I will still plan to fly it. Also, since the Evoque has the O3 Air Unit, I'm using the Goggles and Remote.
