A friend of mine lives in Kyiv. She said she had stocked up with food and water since the summer. Also, candles, flashlights, and non electrical lamps. They just went through 41hrs without electricity, communications, heating, and running water. At this hour she has running water.
She wrote to me this morning. I was nervous about her and Ukraine’s situation. Her message showed her strength and sense of humor. All of her friends and family left the city and Ukraine. She is staying home.
The people in Ukraine are so strong. Military included. Much love for Ukraine 🇺🇦

during the war in bosnia, in banjaluka, we had electricity every 40-45 days for couple of hours...also, no heating, no chimney in apartments, and it last four years...
also NATO was bombing us with depleted uranium, a lot of people and kids died from cancer....and nobody cares for us, so fuck u NATO, fuck u EU.

All heating sources that burn things require adequate ventilation to vent poisonous gas outside. A chimney leading to the outside is the preferred way. Generators should always be outside any residence. Remember Carbon Monoxide is heavier than air, so if you use an open window, be sure your sleeping area is above the vent or you might not wake up as the room fills with CO gas.
This is important advice. When the Texas electrical grid collapsed last February, there were dozens of deaths from carbon monoxide poisoning due to generators, charcoal heaters, etc.

@@ianfg8082 I have concern that she is still 10 stories up. A fire in a high rise is a scary thing in the best of times. Without any lighting in the halls or stairwells it would be super dangerous.
You're absolutely right but I think most Ukrainians are very smart (maybe more smart than the average European) and know very well the danger of open fire or exhaust from combustion engines in closed rooms.

If anything, the Russians will continue missile striking for the next 3 months as its main offense. Winter time it is cold and snow everywhere so it’s ideal to for them to continue. Hitting infrastructure like electric grids and transformers makes civilian difficult and could anger those civilians who rely on the military’s defense. They will be far more likely to be frustrated with their government. The Ukraine military must set up more defense systems, especially around infrastructure. When people are cold and hungry, they don’t want anything else. The Ukrainian government must work harder to help their people.

I grew up in Lebanon and lived in the capital city Beirut during the 80s. We had wars on and off, and we spent our time without electricity, water, and food. we had to use the wells from schools and rich people to get water. I remember during cease fires we used to go shopping for candles, batteries, and food. When bombardment begins, We lived in bomb shelters for weeks and sometimes for months.
It's heart breaking to hear story like you is facing this of situation i pray for safety .thank you for sharing
