These cars ARE fast. They ARE reliable. For their size and weight they handle, accelerate and ride like a dream. I am so sick of people that think they know everything about every kind of car making false statements. I currently own a '93 and my Dad had a '90 Coupe he bought brand new. Best car he ever owned!
I used to have one of these and loved it. I’m surprised GM didn’t use these engines in more cars. That 4.9 was much better than the Northstar that came after it.
They ride beautifully and are whisper quiet. The most comfortable seats! My Aunt had a 90 Coupe Deville with every option available including the Bose CD system radio. She drove it 25 years til she passed away.
I had a 92 Sedan DeVille in high school. And it was my absolutely favorite car I ever owned in my entire life! Unfortunately it was totaled in 2005, where an 80 year old man in a 1976 New Yorker t-boned the Caddy from running a red light. At the time it only had 93,000 miles as well. But man I miss that car to this day.
@@taunuslunatic404 It can happen with anybody. That said, the old man might have stopped driving after that. They sometimes do after they have a crash.
Large cars are worth the extra bit of gas they use. Get into one fender bender and you’ll be glad you were driving something substantial. The ride is always great 👍
This particular year you’d want to be a little more careful as the front fenders were plastic. I remember being able to push the wheel wells in a half an inch.
I had a 92 coupe de ville and it was beautiful. Got 27 mpg on the hwy with 4 adults and air conditioner going! With the exception of blown motor mounts every 10k miles and both front windows falling off their tracks every six months , it was a gem.
My dad had a 92 Seville STS. He sold it before Covid hit. You are correct about the interior. I hadn't been in that car in over 20 yrs and when I opened the door to start it for him the seats were like new. I couldn't believe it. It also smelled like a Wilson's leather baseball glove.
Wow. Looks like the Caddy we rented in California in 1992. Drove it all through LA, Anaheim, Long Beach, Angora Hills, and ended up in San Diego. My dad had a 1993 DeVille that was Dark Cherry with gray leather. It was a beautiful car.
I have a 92 sedan deville 89,000 miles black on black with lipstick red interior, I had it rust proofed when new. Car does drive like a dream; the seats are very comfortable. It will be a sad day when I sell it
Let me just say I really appreciate you running such an honest business. It really rehabs the sometimes unfair but sometimes earned reputation of some used car dealers trying to rip people off by selling terrible cars for maximum profit. I especially enjoyed your videos with Hoovie, The Car Wizard and other UA-camrs. I do wish Hoovie would pronounce your name right (Urination Bob sounds disrespectful but that's just my opinion). Not a GM fan but I do like older Fords and older BMWs (pre i-Drive). Thanks for showing American cars some love too (I liked this car and that 75 Mercury Grand Marquis coupe you showed recently). Thanks again for being you!
Really like these cars, nice video. I've always thought this body style Cadillac looked small on the outside but was always super impressed by the interior space and rear leg room. Love those seats!
I’ve had a few of these 6th-Gen deVille’s over the years, usually because deals came up and I jumped while the iron was hot. They’re comfy and easy to drive just not the most powerful. The 4T60-E trans was a nice upgrade to the older gen trans that failed like clockwork at 80K if not serviced regularly. GLWTS!
I had a white 92' DeVille. I sold it after owning it for 2 years. I paid the same amount for gas for the same amount of miles with my DeVille (which took premium only) as I paid for my 2000 Chev Tahoe 5.3 Vortec 4x4. Terrible at the pump. But perfect in every other way. And yes. So fast. But try replacing the water pump on those DeVille's. It was a nightmare. Then I bought a 1996 Caddy Fleetwood. LT-1 350 RWD 270hp and 331 Lbs-ft.
Hey buddy I picked up the same car back in 2016 from a wrecker yard that I worked at for 600 bucks car had a 100,000 mi on it practically brand new still except mine had burgundy leather interior let me tell you the car still had the original new car smell well I still have the car today the only difference is the paint peeled like 5 years ago little tip don't use Dawn dish soap to wash your car anyhow I tried painting it candy apple red with red window tint well as for me I didn't add something into the clear coat which made the red paint fade which shows the under color silver primer underneath which actually a lot of people like because it's red and silver faded but hopefully I'm going to be painting it this fall again but you are correct it is a very fast car and now I got 172,000 mi on it and I will never get rid of this baby
We had a blue on blue one similar to that one. A family member cooked the engine by driving it while overheated . The world is full of imperfect people that you still love no matter what.
1990 or 91 they made the 4.5 more powerful than in 88 n 89 but the 4.9 was the one to get but anymore its hard to find em and when you do is it still good, no rod knock as some did have, is it sluggish, some do or did but otherwise I like these alot 90 thru 92
Although your question asked was directed at Bob. Always glad to educate a fellow admirer of Cadillac. The one used in the movie used probably 86-88 model, all bodystyle's 85 - 88 basically the same except for a few tweeks here and there.
Sure wish I was in the market to buy, color Int/ext not bad. Like this body style compared to the shoes boxes offered 85- 88. Question, why do people refer to classic Cadillacs as land yachts or boat's? Especially this year, to me its a used late model stock mid size American luxury car. Then again my 1st Caddy was a 2 owner stock 66 De Ville and I am a Texas native.
Was that car hit in the front right sure it looks like it was is only a certain amount of things that would explain for a broken headlight a piece of trim below the headlight that's less than perfect he's on the hood and misalignment of front bumper never mind I think I got my answer
Good luck, my '93 DeVille (exactly like this one ... even white) ... was a mess. Crazy computer errors and early rusting (garaged in California) ... I junked the car at 94,000. Good luck with that one!
I guess Tyler Hoover won’t be getting this car and if you can find a 1987-1990 Oldsmobile 98 touring sedan with sunroof that would be a good video to put out best V6 GM put in there cars at the time yes I’m talking about the 3800 V6 I feel like the 80’s and 90’s was GM’s golden years then the 2000’s happened
I love you Bob but comparing the interior of a Cadillac with 90k miles to an LS 400 which almost all have well over 300k miles is ridiculous. Go on BaT and look at Ls400s with less than 100k miles and the interiors look brand new. I like the older Cadillacs but those LS400s were another ball game all together.
I have been through a LOT of early 90’s Asian cars and will stand by my statement that apple’s to apple’s the leather does not hold up as well as many of their competition.
Japanese were superior in their 4 cyls and 6 cyls cars as far as engine and trans durability and reliability but American cars were superior in their v8s

The 1985-88s had a lot smaller body than that, as you might remember.
Because most cadillacs were full sized rear wheel drive at the time but it's still a pretty decent size though. I had two 1991 Fleetwood 60 Specials
