Teacher: For your homework tonight, you’ll have to read a short story.
*The short story:*
The revelation of Artemene and Cyrus being the same person had me in a chokehold. Georges de Scudéry could never.
It honestly knocked me for six when I realised. Absolutely game changing moment
HWHAT?!?!??!
This is genuinely so impressive how dedicated you are. I am really shocked this video doesn’t have over a million views.
this is like completing a marathon - you genuinely deserve a medal! well done Brett :)
As somebody who has never run a marathon I'm going to say this was harder 😂
But she's true
You should get a medal or an award
This is amazing! You should do the Wheel of Time. It's similarly long (and would also make a sweet youtube video) but it's actually an amazing story. You won't want to stop. To me, it seems better to train yourself to love reading again rather than train yourself to push through things just for the sake of completing them.
In hindsight - picking something good and enjoyable would’ve been better for sure
Did I just wake up at 5:30 on a Saturday? Yes. Was the first thing I did go watch this video? Also yes. I’m nearly as impressed with my dedication as I am with yours. Because WOW! I don’t think I could have done it when it’s written like that. Very good video.
Oh gosh - go back to sleep! Thank you though 🥰🥰
Not the king after the princess 😭
Okay I like reading but wow I don't think I could read 2 million words. Well done Brett 😂😂
It was a lot
I really enjoyed this video! It was fascinating. I also thought your description of how your lit degree killed your love of literature was interesting too. Had a very similar experience, but to a lesser degree. Optionally read very little between my undergrad until after I left teaching at 26. Once I was out of that world it gave me space to enjoy books again!
I hear that a lot from teachers actually. I'm glad you're back to loving it
Oh Brett I know exactly how you feel about following literature and then it killing your love for reading, im slowly trying to find my love for books as well 🥺🥺
You’ll get there 🥰 we both will 📖
“ Psychological warfare with myself that no one is making me do”
Most relatable sentence I’ve ever heard lol
Proud of you for doing this seriously so cool!
🤣🤣 I should put it on a T-shirt
Needs more views
I can't even fathom how you pulled this off!
Honestly, me neither 😅
My dyslexia could not 💀
@14:50 I mean that means they technically *were* in the same scene.....in every single scene that featured the main character 😂
Congrats on taking on this near impossible task! Do you have a link or what website did you use for the PDF? Thanks!
You did really good! I could never!
Hi!
The longest series I’ve ever read are Wheel of Time and Malazan, but those took me a really long time to finish with multiple breaks in between. Cheers brother haha.
Jesus I’d be asking for the audio version 🤣🤣
I cannot imagine being a voice actor reading all those words out loud 🙈
4rth! SLAY KING!
You deserve wayyy more subs dude
well done Brett
Great video! You did it! 🎉
the mental fortitude you must have to get through that many pages is absolutely insane.😂
Stephen King's IT is 1,477 pages long which is the longest I've read. My parents would be shocked to find the price and size if I got it for Christmas lol
What website did you use to read the book I’m just curious
This motivates me to read more.
Now read In The Realms of the Unreal.
I would if someone actually preserves it.
New to this channel so idk if you've already read this, but a long book ("only" 1,300 pages, so much better than this!) that I highly recommend you read is Les Miserables!! The characters and plot are so gripping and well-written, I'm sure you would enjoy it infinitely more.
Impressive.
But, did you say a 43% was a C?!? Dang, my classes, 69.9% was an F.
Oh my GOSH take easier classes!
@@BrettsThoughts that was high school, in Wisconsin, all classes.
The Wheel of Time books - of which there are 14 - come to 11,963 pages. They are available in bookshops. 11963 pages is only 1037 pages short of 13,000 pages.
So a book of 13,000 pages, divided into several volumes. should be easy enough to sell, if there were a market for it/
WoT is a series of books, and not single long book.
@@mwont True - I said there were 14. I think they can qualify as one, since
(1) they tell a single connected story;
(2) none of them is free-standing;
(3) other complete stories, such as LOTR, are often printed as several separate books.
@@mwont Agreed.
You know, I want to read this now just cause Brett told us we wouldn't want to. My dang desire to prove people wrong is too strong. But I'm not gonna read it. I guess I'll trust Brett for now 😂
You just read more than the entirety of Harry Potter, Dune, Lord of the Rings, and the Hunger Games combined in a little over a month. That’s crazy.
Not worth it. Do not recommend.
Actually if you see some of the web novels they have more than over 5,000,000 words
Contrary to popular belief, I have a life 😂
You are so brave
Why does vaggie have lavender hair? 😭😭😭
Venmurasu novel.
26 volumes.
22400 pages
Is to late to suggest a screen reader? Text to speech apps?
In any case, good job!
This is impressive but I was a little sad when you didn't do the what if Dumbledore became minister of magic after fuge hopefully you do something like that sometime because I'd love to hear your thoughts on it.
Isn't this Hermione Grangers ideal holliday?
Not even close to the largest book in the world.maybe historical but in the modern world na. For instance the largest book (webnovel) I know of is "Bringing The Farm To Live In Another World" it's 13109 chapters alone.
@10:00 Holy crap litterally describes modern webnovels to a tee.
@16:43 43/110 damn that's impressive. I have spent litterally days trying to get a chronology written down for books a third this length and only was able too complete 1/3rd of it.
I thought you were going to read the Smash Bros Fanfiction.
I can confirm you cant because you said "I didnt speak french" ^^
Oh LORD did I really?
@@BrettsThoughts yeah ^^
Were you supposed to know that Artemene and Cyrus are the same person? Or was discovering that a plot point?
What about Marienbad my Love by Mark Leach which is a *supposed* 17 MILLION words?
Still better than Ayn Rand.
