Been transitioning from Kokoist potted system to Nail Thoughts since my husband fell ill. I don't have the luxury of spending 8 hours doing nuance nails on a Saturday any more. I couldn't imagine life without NT inspired and imaginative line of products. I trust the quality, and the ease of the builder base is a life saver for me. Keep up the great job, Katie!
Oooh good to know about the chrome! I'm using up the rest of the luminary gel I have and then plan to try your bases. I love chrome, so I'm glad to hear it doesn't stick!
Hey Katie! Do you ever use a primer or dehydrator before applying your base layer? Also do you ever use Kokoist Mega Stick as a thin layer under your base coat? Thanks!!!
Hi!!! No dehydrator , the only thing i use is nail cleanser (alcohol and acetone mix). Sometimes i do use protein bond on my tough clients, but i don’t use it on myself! Hope that helps 🥰
Love watching your videos I own some of your products which I absolutely love nail thoughts and kokoist are my favs! I hope to own the whole collection one day!
Didn’t see you use a primer or dehydrator. Or was that not filmed. Just curious cause i do and mine seem to just peel off and trying to find a solution or it’s that step if that makes sense.
I have stuck ta hard time getting my gel even and not flooded on all sides. I've been doing my own gel since 2020 and I'm no better than when i started. It's so frustrating. I've tried different products, techniques and watched so much educational content with no improvement. But I'll continue to keep on keeping on and hope one day my brain will behave.
Would you recommend the nail thoughts line for someone with thin/bendy nails? Can’t get a gel mani to stick without a monomer primer to save my life 😮💨
For super thin and bendy nails i would recommend kokoist mega stick base ! When you have really bendy nails, you want a base coat that flexes with the nail to help absorb the shock of daily bending and flexing of the nails. When a base coat bends with the nails it helps prevent lifting. If a base coat is too hard , it won’t have as much bend as the weak nail which would lifting because while the nail is bending and flexing underneath, the hard gel isn’t flexing with it causing lifting. What i did with a lot of my weak nail clients was put a coat of mega stick base on their nails first, cured it, then built up with my NT builder bases on top of it . So they got strength on top to help grow them out , but had the mega stick as a layer to help everything last long with no lifting
I know they’re (usually) completely safe but the idea of using drill bits on my nails scares me something awful! Do you have any tips or videos to get started? 💜💜
if you are beginner i definitely would try using safety bits to remove gel! I used that when i first started. and maybe when you are first starting to e file just practice with cuticle bits. Those are super easy and much more gentle than gel removal bits. That way you get the feel for the e file before getting into the actual gel removal. I linked/talked about all those in my drill bit blog post! but if you are too scared to use an e file that’s totally fine too! some people soak off their gel all the time, some people HAND file off their gel, and some ppl e file. everyone’s different and you don’t have to do this if you don’t want , you have plenty of options 🥰❤️
I don’t remember exactly for this one but, Between 30 -60 seconds for sure . Sometimes if the gel is applied too thick, the chrome wont stick to it i noticed. So after you cure a thick blob of it, do another thin coat of it to cover it , and THAT will help the gel cure nicely for chrome to stick to
MAGIC! How does the chrome not stick to NTB??? Well, looks like Accessory Bond is being added to my cart for what I hope will be the upcoming Memorial Day sale 😉😉 I have Kokoist Boba Gel, but I don't think it's non-wipe? Must inspect.
Dude I DONT KNOW. It’s funny someone a while ago mentioned that they always use my bases at the base for their isolated chrome and i was like i dunooooo. And i tried this technique with matte underneath and it was a disaster, the chrome was everywhere and i had to try to clean it off, but this!!?? Was magic!!!??? And yes The boba gel you have to apply non wipe top coat over it for chrome to stick i believe.

I’ve been learning how to use the builder base and build the apex; your demo helped so much! 😍 Thanks so much!
YAY! ❤️
Very cute! Was it Miku that taught you? Her methods are always on my mind when I do chrome line art! Such a fun way to use NTBs! 😍🥰

@@nailthoughts this is super helpful, thank you so much! I’m definitely considering enrolling in your class as well. 💜
Did you then put top coat on the whole nail after you did the chrome? Amazing nails btw I’ve always wanted them like that too 😍😍
Yep! Top coat for sure!
Hi Katie! I was wondering how long you cured the accesory bond? I'm having a hard time with the chrome sticking.

@@nailthoughts Thank you! 🥰🤗❣️
Hi Katie, where do you get your left hand drill bit? Thank you!
Hii! Linked it in the description as well as a blog post about other types of good bits to choose from , hope that helps 🥰

@@nailthoughts welp looks like I need to put my NTBs to the test and try this for myself. I'll go the extra step with Boba and be gilded to the nines!
So how did you top coat then?
Floated it over the nail and cured one nail at a time !
@nailthoughts ahh ok! Thanks girl!
Did you only top coat over the chrome parts or the whole nail?
Whole nail for sure ! Because i still needed to encase the clear base coat underneath the chrome too
Did you top coat after? And how long did you cure the non wipe before chrome?
Top coat absolutely! I cured the non wipe for 30 seconds!
