It is combination of various factors such as genetics, neurodevelopmental factors and environment have been attributed to the development of autism. However, few researchers believe that autism is a neurodiverse population (a normal variation of the heterogeneous population)

Only 25-30% have intellectual disability and remaining will have normal IQ and few of them (1%) may have gifted IQ (splinter skills) Splinter skills in autism are unique abilities or talents often exceptional in people with autism but not necessarily related to other areas of their life.
