Wow my 99 Tacoma has had the same problem for a while. I never tried to fix it cause I figured it be expensive but a zip tie and some scrap metal. Now I’ve got heat for the winter, awesome video thanks man.
Hey man thanks for the video it really helped me out!!! My 99 tacoma has been clicking for a while I tore it all apart and narrowed it down to my control valve or the control valve cable being that little plastic pice was still in tact !! I just greased everything with some plumbers grease and everything seems to be working good!! Them cables are tricky as hell lol!!!!!!thanks for the video!! Hope you solved your problem!
Fix worked on my 98' 4runner. Absolutely a pain to get everything disconnected / reconnected but worth it. Now I don't have to reach under the passenger side dash and move the cable manually 😂😂. Same fix you did, only I used a piece of 5/16" brass bar stock I had laying around instead of the flat stock. Works like a charm. Thanks for the info, I never would've torn into it had it not been for this vid!
@@Charliegirl2 I had to turn the knob at the same time as I pushed or pulled the lever attached to the blender door to get full hot or full cold until I fixed it.
Mine was. Wouldn't turn between hot/cold knob just clicks like it's skipping. You can reach up under passenger side and feel the other end of the cable trying to move, you should be able to push/pull the cable and it will turn the knob. That's what I did for about 2yrs. Finally tackled it today. Works like a charm now. Same exact problem he had.
I can't find any videos with the way mine is made don't have knob a slide bar that wont go all the way over. Manuel under the passenger side open the vent but just don't open all the way.
@@Charliegirl2 could be your cables they get really sticky sometimes. Or check your heater valve by the fire wall sometimes they get stuck in a certain position
You dont need to pull the dash. You just have to pull out all your knobs and pop off the plastic center peice then unscrew all the screws that hold everything in place.
@@DuyNguyen-ns2ks oh man its been awhile. Only thing I remember is. There’s some screws on the sides. If you already took them out then im not sure been too long.
Cool. I hope it works out for you. I happened to unhooked the cable that connects to the heater valve on the firewall and left the valve wide open. I was having issues shortly after the video was posted. That cable had alot of resistance. So when you turn it from hot to cold or visversa theres a flap inside the cabin that allows hot air from the coil to enter when you switch it to hot. Then when to cold it closes the flap and not let hot air in. Now my knob is super smooth. Good luck
@@hmongwild thanks , mine just went out or at least it just got cold enough to use and it just clicks , so ill let you know im gonna try this on Saturday your is the only vid that shows anything at all.

Awesome - my 98 4Runner is having a similar issue. Thanks - look forward to hopefully it being this fix as well.
How to you take that off?
Was the knob hard to turn and making a loud clicking noise?

Mine is on the 3rd knob vents, and defrost the hot and cold ones fine

How did you get the climate control out without removing the dash?
You dont need to pull the dash. You just have to pull out all your knobs and pop off the plastic center peice then unscrew all the screws that hold everything in place.
@@hmongwild hey bro im having a hard time taking out the whole climate control. Is there something that is holding it back??
