So the director for the remake hated the original show? That’s what went wrong then, they should’ve gotten someone actually passionate about the show. Literally any Cats fan could’ve done it better, simply because they understood and enjoyed the original. The CGI wasn’t the real problem, it was the horrible director.
I hated the MUNGGOJERRY AND RUMPELTEAZER song in the movie... It literally made me sleepy! 😂😂😂 They made Old Deut a woman and not a male wherein the poem and the song is a HE not a SHE LOL that what went wrong with the movie.
"The problem with the film was that Tom Hooper decided, as he did with 'Les Miz', that he didn't want anyone involved in it who was involved with the original show." SAY IT LOUDER FOR THE LES MIZ FANS IN THE BACK.
Andrew Lloyd Webber's name being anywhere near this was a crime... I was so shocked at how something from him could've ended up like this. But now it makes sense lol
In Les Miserables are great actors and singers like Amanda Seyfried, Hugh Jackman, Helena Bonham Carter or Sacha Baron Cohen that appears in other musical movies before like Mamma Mia or Sweeney Todd and Hugh was Gaston on Beauty And The Beast musical years ago, also Samantha Barks who was Eponine on the musical was in the movie, later other members of the cast make musicals like Daniel Huttleston and Aaron Tveit and the rest are greatest actors and actress, so I think that the movie was very well done. The problem with Cats is not only the CGI the greatest problem is that only too actors that are singers too Jennifer Hudson and Judi Dench (Sir Ian Mckellen is just actor and James Corden and Rebel Wilson don't count because thay was terrible on this movie) the rest of the cast are only singers and that don't work on a adaptation of a musical. 🤷🏻♂️
That's it I want Disney do hand drawn animated movies adaptation of musicals of Andrew Lloyd Webber, Who's with me?
The thing is Steven Spielberg was planning a fully animated Cats film but then when Universal acquire the rights, Spielberg abonded his plans and when Tom Hooper join as director, he wanted to be a live action film

THE LORD HAS SPOKEN! I EXACTLY KNEW HE'S GONNA CRITICIZE THIS TRASHY AND RIDICULOUS MOVIE 😂😂😂 "Munggojerry and Rumpelteazer" song made me sleepy while the original one is a jazzy and lively version. I didn't watch the movie again but the musical... I've watched it over and over again hahaha

I don’t know a single person who liked the new cats movie. As much as I like many of the actors I feel like they totally butchered the musical. I will never watch it.
