I paid 280 bucks for a used 24' aluminum 8 in. I beam, modded my bar with threaded rod, circular aluminum spacers and a 2x8. I cut all the 6x8 and 8x8 beams for my barn from wood off my property right where I cut them down and dragged the finished beams to the pad I put it on. I traded a bunch of 20' oak logs and some welding work to the Mennonite mill near my house for all the 1x8 siding, roof purlins and second story flooring. So for under 1500 bucks including fuel, craigslist windows and some labor from HS kids I have a 24x36 foot post and beam barn. It'll be another grand for roof metal and trim when summer comes and it's done. All that for less than this contraption
brilliant. i have two. started our sawmill business on them until we could afford industrial machines. will use mine at home until i can’t start a saw anymore.
I was running this saw for about 2 hours at about a 30-50% duty cycle ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxfQm1wmg0ItKDLavxj1nXtQY9HP7EF504 and it did a great job. I used the lever for the built in sharpener to clear chip buildup out more than to actually sharpen the chain. It managed to cut some hardwood stumps much larger than it's size without bothering the neighbors with hours of 2 stroke noise.
just make a bar device like at 3:57-3:58, get a straight H-beam and put it on top of the log, rest said bar device on H beam and make your initial cut, remove H-beam and slide bar across top of new fairly flat cut wood. once youve got rough cuts you can clean it up with a table saw or whatever youve got. youre welcome.
Let the haters hate on price.. That is a beautiful piece of engineering. Good on ya. I can think of a couple situations it is not only perfect for, but would be worth the price. Granted those are long odds...
$2,800 for a chainsaw platform?!?!?!😂😂😂😂 For that much, I will pay a little more for a bandsaw sawmill and get a much better and bigger cut. not to mention I can mount it on a trailer so I dont have to keep setting it up and taking it apart. I like the design but damn, it's not the cure for cancer!
I've seen good bandsaw versions that start at $3,200. I bet if I was patient I could find them on sale for a bit less. For the amount of wood lost because of the chain width, the price really should reflect that.
Rick Stewart www.machines4u.com.au/view/advert/LOGOSOL-F2-Chainsaw-Mill-/404082/ $2,445 AUD, and the price isn't even listed on the Logosol site which is always a red flag for me.
No idea what you're talking about with saying there are no prices on the site. I found plenty of prices on the Australian site: logosol.com.au/chainsaw-sawmills/f2-petrol The U.S. pages says: "Shop Online! All Logosol products may be ordered online at baileysonline.com" and it has a link right next to it. Then, you can find the F2 Chainsaw mill simply: www.baileysonline.com/Forestry-Woodcutting/Portable-Sawmills/Logosol-Portable-Sawmills/Logosol-M8-Chainsaw-Mills/Logosol-F2-Farmer-s-Sawmill-4-Meter.axd The prices is listed in big red font. Regardless, it is indeed a lot of money for a chainsaw mill. I was only refuting the 1,000 dollars Josh Beck had mentioned. I am much more inclined towards this sawmill: ua-cam.com/video/9fyUMNAjVas/v-deo.html
i love the set up it would be great for me to have and it would get used quite a bit, but for $2800 no thanks. it's very costly i was thinking about $6 to 8 hundred.
Very expensive lesson to learn that bandsaw mills are the way to go. If you're going to even bother chainsaw milling just get a granberg hand held set up for $150.00. Even in remote areas it would be less time, money and effort to set up a bandsaw mill. Looks impressive on youtube but chainsaw milling is ridiculously slow, expensive, noisy and labor intensive. It just makes zero sense. Been there, done it, got a bandsaw and didn't look back.
That'd be perfect for smaller softwood logs, not sure how realistic it would be to get a 20" diameter walnut log up on that thing, let alone it holding the weight. Cool idea though!
@ 5:40 it sure looks like the product would turn out ‘wavy’ :( Overpriced in my opinion. I love the concept. A small band mill is the ticket if you are going to spend the bucks.
I sold my M8 and bought an F2+ sawmill. The F2+ (and the F2) can only do 1/4" clicks. This is somewhat limiting in terms of setting the thickness of the board you want. It's not an earthshaking limitation, but I would rather have 1/8 inch clicks.
I bought an M8. Now I wish I would have waited for the F2. Is there any way to retrofit M8 to be an F2 equivalent? I am particularly interested in milling shorter logs, which you can't do directly on an M8, though one might be able to improvise something for short logs on the M8.
I was just thinking that I have a good local fabrication shop for the tougher pieces, and the way this attaches to the saw is very nice. It makes sure you have more useable length of chain cutting.
just make a bar device like at 3:57-3:58, get a straight H-beam and put it on top of the log, rest said bar device on H beam and make your initial cut, remove H-beam and slide bar across top of new fairly flat cut wood.
And, if you really want something permanent, you could buy the logosol sawmill, complete with nuclear powered engine, diamond chain and 50 metre thickness capacity
is this ultra portable sawmill available for sale in Canada. Also will it work with a Stihl MS 461 chainsaw. I am looking to cut in remote location. Basically transport the mill with a snowmobile or side by side via trailer. Basically assemble when on location then disassemble to move to next group of trees. 5 to 9 meter logs and lumber. Also interested the orange colour pole and bracket that connects to chainsaw bar and carriage.

i would love to see if it would stand up to my Maples. 20 to 24 inch 8 feet. not sure . looks like good quality. I agree with price point. I am sure a Norwood or HM130 max My maples would get cut. just love working with a chainsaw. if I ever get one I will post on My tube channel owe it makes out.

that's too funny didn't notice.
Was just thinking about how much I wanted to spend $3k to make my own cutting boards. This is the perfect solution!

its so portable! just make sure to bring your front end loader to load the size trees you actually want to cut lol

Can ya send me pictures? I have a remote log hunting cabin this could help
I liked the concept, but I'm a bit skeptical about the squareness of the cuts 5:45
Wish you guys offered financing. Whew. What an awesome product. Would love to try and sell these to folks in Western NC. Thanks.

Wow I could watch that machine cut wood all day, something enjoyable about it. Almost therapeutic

It is only $1,800 for the F2 sawmill.

Maybe do some pull ups. Lay off the soyburgers.
Who ever edited this video did a good job
Can you fit a m880 one this logosol
Stihl MS880/881 works great!
That'd be perfect for smaller softwood logs, not sure how realistic it would be to get a 20" diameter walnut log up on that thing, let alone it holding the weight. Cool idea though!
В России Адвокат Егоров сделал такую же распиловку на слэбы из двух палок и пары саморезов в глухом лесу.
I'm seeing all kinds of rigs like this, what with the price of lumber and all.

I know what's going on my Christmas list!
Hi John!
Santa must be good in your area. Just checked the price. $3000 CDN, plus tax and shipping LOL.
Good idea
PB - I knew it would be expensive !
Hey CT - I hope you do a review if you get one.
I think you can get a HF sawmill for $2000 which uses a band saw.

My logosol M8 sawmill can be set to do either 1/4 inch clicks or 1/8 inch clicks. Can the F2 sawmill do that?

Best chainsaw with the best car😉
I think I would load the logs and take them to it instead of taking sawmill to them
Гениально! 👍
Add to the cost a chain saw of about 100 cc or more and a rip chain.

What do you recommend for chains? I'm using regular chains. Is there a specific one?
there are ripping chains that have a different angle, you can make them yourself with an grinder or buy them I think stihl sells them
iliketobuildstuff ok I'm still new to the angles for different uses can you please educated me?
A rip chain makes a cleaner cut but a standard chain can also do a nice job as well!
My standard chain on my husq rancher kept binding up. So I figured I'd ask
Nicholas Byrd perhaps get a semi skip or full skip ripper than!
