Anything you wish to film and share is appreciated. You share confidence in how to be creative in problem solving, and it really shows how much one can do with very little. I am always puzzled by modern people assuming that just because our forbears didn't have our modern technology that they couldn't figure out how to build incredible projects like the great pyramids using the materials available to them at the time.
This IS our ancestors mindset - with creative innovative pursuits of incrementally productive advancements using what's conveniently available along with embellishments as conceived as time progressed into very useful parts of their lives to then pass on for further developments all built on their shoulders...!!!
first of all it's good to see you well after an eventful year in your parts. probably most of us who follow your work in the forest have noted the long silence and wished the best for you interesting to see your lumber milling evolve. it's pretty amazing how you're able to get that quality of boards milled with a chainsaw in a fairly primitive yet somewhat precise and very precisely understood setup. when i set up my sawmill in the forest (a regular gas-powered bandsaw type), i first mounted 30' (about 9 meters) of steel trackbed onto the ground at a predetermined slope, so that i'd only hold the saw to keep it stable while it cut, and gravity would do the hard work. of course my setup was not portable, which means you need equipment to drag timbers to it. your thing is bring the mill to the timber, wherever it is. but a gravity feed might still help you, and your design wouldnt be harmed by finishing the channel and guide mating surfaces with an oil finish mixed with beeswax. applied hot and wiped off, this would not only help preserve your hard work, but also greatly reduce friction as far as your epicondylitis i have two pieces of advice: 1) there is a physical therapy device that reverses the condition. there are several brands out there, 'theraband flexbar' is what is use. but there is also logest, dmoose, viking strength and otrhers. they all do the same thing. you can look up the research on it if it interests you, 2) aspirin, by which i do NOT mean ibuprofen (motrin) or acetaminphen (tylenol), just plain old regular strength aspirin. this is not for its analgesic effect, which is salutary, but for its anti-inflammatory effect. one tablet an hour before work reduces injury by reducing inflammation while the tendons are being used. if you find it's right for you to try these, i've no doubt you'll see excellent long-term results and almost immediate benefits from both therapies there's nothing more permanent than a temporary solution
I found your channel in 2019, in that year I was in a creative drought not knowing what or how I could make my projects come to life, when I came across your channel I was hit with a epiphany, "what if I didn't follow the beaten path" and after that I have done a total of 27 projects that were inspired by your videos. People like you who do these great teaching videos on UA-cam are the salt of the earth. You freely give your ideas and knowledge and are a special kind of person. Keep up the great work and thank you.
Gday AM, I"m glad you referred to your video on how you can make perfect boards without the need of jigs and the reason for this jig was health and time related. Cutting and milling the hardest woods on Earth have certainly taken their toll on my body over the last thirty seven years. Before machinery sawmills were always built on the side of a hill to allow for gravity feed.
Glad to have you back. I've been re-watching many of your videos over the last few days. I'm still in awe of your impeccable attention to detail and perfectionist mentality
Great book for a beginner . ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxD-QRFQz730FJEh4f9BYSf-nkIMIC9hL_ this book really starts from the beginning, as in it explains what basic tools are and how to use them. But when it gets to the art of creating joints and how and when to use them this book really starts to teach you something. At least that was my experience.
Professor Advoko , I don't know if you want anything from anyone but you certainly have given a lot , even more than what some people get from their friends .... You are a great friend to a lot of different strangers in many small corners of this planet ; and many more greatness to you .
I am always so impressed with your content. you consistently think outside the box and are solving problems that I face throughout the year. My video request is an update on the bottle bee hives!
It’s so nice to see another video from you, Max. That new boat is beautiful. I can’t even imagine how much time and tinkering it took to get that automated sawmill to work that perfectly. If anyone could do it, though, I know it would be you. You are the most clever, industrious man I know and you never fail to impress me. I’m sorry about your hands. I hope they eventually heal up as good as new. I wish you good health, peace, and excellent wood shavings from now on.
My heart sings to see and hear that your craftsmanship is still blessed and welcome sharing any adventures you upload! Please keep warm and safe everywhere you fare💖
Max, your level of skill and sheer ingenuity is such a pleasure to watch. Thank you. As to your next video, of course I will enjoy whatever you choose!
Not only is Max intelligent, but has a "feel" for wood and metal, and understands precisely how tools and materials work in principle and practice. He works WITH his tools and materials instead of with brute force. Using the vibrations or the saw to keep it moving along constantly with such light pressure is devilishly clever!
Very happy to see you again, it was a long silent period, thanks for the video, I will see it now ;-) (just did it and I confirm, you are the "Da Vinci" of Bushcraft !), always pleasant to watch and listen, thanks again and take care.
Wow Bro, from bees to boards, you never cease to amaze me! Your ingenuity, patience and precision is second to none. Try and pace yourself moving forward, injuries get harder to heal with age!
Mate, I don’t own a chain saw, or have need for one, and I’m not sure why UA-cam has recommended your video to me…. But I’m so glad it did. It was a joy to see you logically go through the problem solving stage to get to the solution, bravo.
So glad to see you posting again, Max. Can't wait to see what other projects you have in store for us. I personally would love to see a video of the bridge
Your English always impresses me, I am trying to learn new languages now and the fact you can speak it so well just blows my mind. Thank you for making these. They are always so useful to watch as I get to learn from months of testing and years of experience. Love you stuff.
So great to see you safe and healthy! I'm also glad to see the content continue. My vote would be to see the bridge. I've seen lots of people on here build boats, but never a bridge!
You are our generation's Richard Proenneke. Thank you so much for bringing your journeys, knowledge, and learned wisdom to us all. 🙏 - a city dweller living vicariously through your experience.

OMG... my mind is absolutely blown by this. You are incredible! Just when I thought it couldn't get any more impressive, you show your amazing boat! And then you pull out the in-ground honeybee hive!! You're just the most amazing human I've seen in a long time. Thank you so much for these wonderful videos.
I like that you see a problem and solve it, not just keep having the same problem, its something the human race does but you do it many many times. Amazing.
Along with Primitive Technology, watching Advoko Makes is my favourite way of escaping the chaos in the world for a few minutes on UA-cam. Your work is mesmerising, your voice like honey, your footage like morphine. You are a balm for the senses, and I have missed your videos more than I can express.
Max, as a Toolmaker/designer, prototype maker, pattern maker, master machinist, mechanic and general Jack-of-all-trades, most folks will understand when I say that I am not easily impressed with most people's work. But every time I see one of your videos, I am blown away! I have a circle blade sawmill that can make an 8x16 beam or, anything smaller. I was going to make an add-on carriage for my BIG chainsaw with 3-6 foot bar (1 to 2 meters) to slab large logs that my circle blade cannot do. But, you have just shown me there is a much better way. Your self-propelled sawmill is elegant in its simplicity. With the added benefit of not having to reset my sawmill every time I wish to change from milling dimensional boards to slabs. Thank you for the awesome videos!
As an Engineer/Machinist/Mechanic I am highly impressed with your ingenuity, troubleshooting skills, and solutions to keep things simple and not over complicate an idea .....all at the same time. Your understanding of Geometry also shows a highly mathematical mind which I believe is key. Subscribed!

I for one am just glad your OK. It has been so long that I ( we ) did not know what to think.! Real good to see you back and look forward to your next update and soon. You owe us for leaving us hanging this long.! Merry Christmas to you and your family from Canada.!
I’ve been really looking forward to seeing a new video from yourself! Thank you. I like the saying “there is nothing more permanent than a temporary solution”.
I’ve been watching you for years now, and right when I think you’ve reached the threshold of your intelligence, I find myself confounded yet again!! Absolutely amazing!
So glad to see you back, Max. You’ve set the bar so high, nobody else is a close second. Appreciate as you say, the quality of your videos, not quantity. You didn’t disappoint again, you never do.
Glad to see you're still doing okay, I'm definitely interested in your bottle beehive that you pulled out of the ground. keep up the great work your videos are always an inspiration.
You are one of the only chainsaw millers I've seen that points out that ripping the log with the saw vertical and not at 90 degrees to the grain is the most efficient way to mill logs. I have been chainsaw milling logs in this configuration for 30 years after trying an Alaskan mill which was less suitable for milling Australian hardwoods.
@@Advoko Thanks, "T" shaped rail stops saw from lifting, something you achieved by using a weight. My rails are heavier than your timber guide but can still be carried to the log by one man. I made the rails by welding a box section to a flat bar and then attaching feet every metre. After I'd welded them they needed straightening though.
Neat. Your mill solves a real problem (quality of milled product) with elegance. I have spent hours milling oak logs with a saw and always got a product that was 'good enough', but now I see that there is a better answer that isn't a wood mizer! There are other longer-term health issues that arise from long-term exposure to vibration: carpal tunnel syndrome and Reynaud's syndrome, also known as HAVS (hand-arm vibration syndrome) and whitefinger. The first is due to swelling of tissues putting pressure on nerves in the wrist, may resolve with time or there is a painful and damned inconvenient operation. The second is nerve damage and as nerves don't regenerate, is yours for life. Your auto mill will avoid these. Thanks for posting. Gonna subscribe...
Glad to see you back. The quality of board that you can make with your chainsaw mill is really quite amazing. The part where the saw moves itself along the board was very cool. I think seeing how you build the bridge would be very interseting. Happy holidays! Thanks for the video!
I was just wondering about you a couple days ago. I went back and watched a few videos to get ready for building a cottage in the spring. Glad you are well.
Your articulation is awesome. English only people in North America don't typically speak so eloquently. It's inspiring. The genius of your problem solving is next level. The only improvement I would make to your sawmill is an automatic kill switch that would shut the engine off after completing a pass. That way you can leave it unattended longer if needed.
So glad you're back and doing alright. Your videos bring the world a little closer together. I would love to see a video (or many) about the bees or the bridge next.
I am SO GLAD to see that you're back!!! I thought the sanctions would have blocked your channel. I hope you are safe and doing well. Thrilled to see a new video up!!!
Very pleased see you again, friend! It's always a pleasure to watch you work and come up with smart ways to solve ancient problems with the help of some new and old technology out in the wild! I would love to see how you built that bridge!

as far as your epicondylitis i have two pieces of advice: 1) there is a physical therapy device that reverses the condition. there are several brands out there, 'theraband flexbar' is what is use. but there is also logest, dmoose, viking strength and otrhers. they all do the same thing. you can look up the research on it if it interests you, 2) aspirin, by which i do NOT mean ibuprofen (motrin) or acetaminphen (tylenol), just plain old regular strength aspirin. this is not for its analgesic effect, which is salutary, but for its anti-inflammatory effect. one tablet an hour before work reduces injury by reducing inflammation while the tendons are being used. if you find it's right for you to try these, i've no doubt you'll see excellent long-term results and almost immediate benefits from both therapies

I very much enjoy and learn so much from your channel. There are not too many people like yourself, consider yourself special.
You are a remarkable man. Thank you for sharing your projects. You have brought me much happiness and peace.
I for one am just glad your OK. It has been so long that I ( we ) did not know what to think.! Real good to see you back and look forward to your next update and soon. You owe us for leaving us hanging this long.! Merry Christmas to you and your family from Canada.!
So glad to see you back! I would love to see more about the bees!
The work of a beautiful mind.
Russian ingenuity at its best. The only Christmas gift I needed. Cheers from France!
Absolutely amazing!
im in awe everytime i see the magnitude of this guy's creativity and capability. kudos
there's so few people making stuff with this level of integrity and attention to detail, these videos are special. thank you.
Thank you for your compliment!
Beautiful and inspiring. Love the bees, too. Thanks.
So glad to see you back, Max. You’ve set the bar so high, nobody else is a close second. Appreciate as you say, the quality of your videos, not quantity. You didn’t disappoint again, you never do.
Max, so good to see you back! I was getting worried! I look forward to whatever video you choose to show us next, they are all outstanding.
The hardest wood that I milled was oak, which would still be somewhat soft compared to some of Australian hardwoods.))
@@Advoko I have a couple of videos on youtube: search 'milling with Ventz', if you like. The timber I'm milling is Tallowwood.
I liked your setup, nice metal guide rail.
I deeply appreciated your way of living. Thank you for sharing your process.
Original and next-level inventions/projects. ✅
High quality trees/lumber ✅
Tasty accent (that cyrillic w sound /ʂ/ ) ✅
This is the perfect channel.
I was just wondering about you a couple days ago. I went back and watched a few videos to get ready for building a cottage in the spring. Glad you are well.
I'm glad to be helpful
Your articulation is awesome. English only people in North America don't typically speak so eloquently. It's inspiring. The genius of your problem solving is next level.
The only improvement I would make to your sawmill is an automatic kill switch that would shut the engine off after completing a pass. That way you can leave it unattended longer if needed.
Thank you for the idea
Advoko you are an incredible individual. Those bees are very unique.
You are an amazing human being! Just watching your content makes me so happy and entertained! Thank you for sharing!
So glad you're back and doing alright. Your videos bring the world a little closer together. I would love to see a video (or many) about the bees or the bridge next.
I live in Oklahoma. I enjoy watching your videos. It has been a year since you have posted a video. I hope more videos are coming soon.
I am SO GLAD to see that you're back!!! I thought the sanctions would have blocked your channel. I hope you are safe and doing well. Thrilled to see a new video up!!!
Hello friend, happy to see a new video and hope you’re doing well!
Very pleased see you again, friend! It's always a pleasure to watch you work and come up with smart ways to solve ancient problems with the help of some new and old technology out in the wild!
I would love to see how you built that bridge!
That beehive looks amazing, I wait in anticipation of a video about it!
Max... YOU CONTINUE TO BLOW ME AWAY!! If I first watched one of your videos...I'd bet my LIFE SAVINGS you were a mechanical engineer... not a lawyer!!
The rubber band out of a tire!?? I'm amazed the chainsaw doesn't pull forward... but seeing is BELIEVING!! I watch in AWE at every video...and it dawns on me... THIS is how our ancestors LIVED EVERY DAY!! ... They MADE what they NEEDED!!
This guy is genuius!!
Thank you for sharing your wonderfull idees in this video.
Stay healthy and may your courage to manufacture new tools never come to an end!
