Hey, about your sweater bleeding soak it in vinegar vinegar stops the color from bleeding from the yarn. Otherwise you’re just gonna keep rinsing the color out.
I thought there color catchers that you could put in the water to keep the color from bleeding. I so amazed at the two of you and the talent you have. I love you sweaters and the tiny ones ❤
So I just discovered your podcast and started watching all the episodes. My 10-year-old daughter saw what I was watching and said you ladies are beautiful. And she loves all your colors and wants me to make anything you’re making. 😁 I love this because I tend more toward colorful things but I do like the neutrals and now I have someone to knit neutrals for.
Thank you both so much for the fun 🤩 you bring to your knitting 🧶 I love your honesty about your mistakes it makes me feel much better. As ever your yarn and pattern choices are gorgeous.Happy knitting to you both 🧶🌺
Thank you for another lovely podcast and your time. I’m currently working on a jumper that’s been in the needles for a couple of years or so and also rushing to finish, embroidering names and years on a tablecloth that everyone writes on when they come to our house for thanksgiving food. 😊. Your Christmas sweaters are gorgeous. Hope to see you soon 😊
The Skeindeer festive yoke sweater looks beautiful! I was so enchanted by how pretty the colourwork was that I went through all my video history to find it but I couldn't because I watch a ton of podcasts while I knit, and I watched your last video in its entirety last time and didn't pause to buy the pattern right away. I almost gave up looking for it and then you posted a new video, thank goodness 😌
You should look into travelling loop method for when your cable is slightly too long for your circumference of knitting, it's my favourite method I choose it over magic loop all the time to avoid that laddering
Thank you! We’d love to hear how it turns out for you if you do decide to make an Eva Cardigan! Also, so glad we aren’t the only ones who love a good tiny sweater! 🤗🤍
You two are the cutest! Love all your beautiful sweaters (tiny ones too!). I knit several of the tiny sweaters one year and they really were fun! I’m busy helping my granddaughter with wedding prep so not getting a lot of sweater knitting done right now. But it’s all worth it 😊. I look forward to the next episode.
Yay, new episode 😍 I recently finished the Eva and also did a true 2x2 sewn bind off (following Irina Revo's tutorial). It turned out very nice. However it adds more volume to the bind off compared to what the pattern suggests. This resulted in a little "step" down to the button band that blocking couldn't fix. Not a big deal but it bugged me. So I added on a two stitch i-cord to the bottoms of the button band and then "grafted" it together with the corner of the ribbing bind off. Turned out well. Getting the corners to look smooth took a little fiddling with the yarn tail and a darning needle but it was worth the effort!
Hmm you make me think I’d better get going on a Christmas sweater- just can’t decide which one yet. Thanks for keeping me company as I knitted a cowl to keep me warm at work
Love the tiny sweaters. I made an advent calendar of mini mittens in colour work. I figured I could bang these out a couple a week. lol. Took me 18 months on and off to finish. But totally worth it. It comes out every year.
Hi guys, I don't know how you do it, but you make me want to knit all the sweaters, even ghe ones I didn't think I would knit, you just make them look soo good! 😍 As to the yarn bleeding, I can recommend soaking the yarn in vinegar as well, I've been doing it with fabric as well and works perfectly fine! 😊
Thank you so much!! I heard about vinegar being a possible solution yesterday! That’s good to hear it works for fabric too! I soaked the yarn in a mixture of vinegar and water in the hopes it helps! It’s currently drying, so fingers crossed! 🤞🏼~Jess
Your knits are gorgeous. I can't believe how much you get done even with some redoing of button bands etc. I feel better about my mistakes knowing you make some too, so thanks for sharing.
I can’t remember who said this but it was a knitter on UA-cam! They said something to the effect of, the difference between a new knitter and an experienced knitter is that an experienced knitter will go back and fix their mistakes, because no matter how long you’ve been knitting you’ll still make mistakes at some point. And I have tried to practice that as much as I can 😅
I am so excited that you are coming to the Oregon Coast ( that is where I live) and you will love having a warm hat while here so I think it will be worth the time you take your dix it. I also love both your Christmas sweaters… and the tiny sweaters … I can’t even tell you how much I love them. Another great episode 🧶💖
Thank you so much! Our trip isn’t until next summer since it’s for a family wedding, but we’re hoping that means we have plenty of time to plan our hand knit wardrobe for the occasion! ☺️🤍 glad you love the tiny sweaters as much as we do!
for sleeves I use 12 inch circular needles and love it . This is a game changer for me and I don't dread knitting sleeves any more . Maybe you should give it a try 🙂
I have been curious about 12 for a while! I'm not crazy about the super tiny needles for socks (I think 8 or 9 inch circular?) so I've been hesitant about trying the 12 inch but it may be worth a try! 😊
I have spun Corriedale and knit them into socks. They are holding up well. That is the only fiber in those socks. So I think knitting from that Corriedale woould be worth a try. Also when washing that black yarn you could use a color catcher and see if that helps with the bleeding.
This is so helpful!! If theres any leftovers from a sweater I think that color would make beautiful socks! I don't think we've ever tried a color catcher before so that is a great recommendation! If you have any certain kind you recommend we would love that 🤗❤
OMG I'm torn between wanting hundreds of those tiny sweaters but unwilling to put all the time needed into something so fiddeley. They look so cute tho :)
How fun - I am also doing the Festive Yoke pullover - I'm doing the all over colorwork version in a dark blue and white. Love your colors. I've been changing up the charts even more and have included some charts from Pacific Knit's winter doodle deck (highly recommend, btw). I love how her charts are in both dark against light and then light against dark - and the increase patterning - nice touches. I didn't have trouble with the short rows but I can't remember the details.
The festive yoke in a blue and white would be so beautiful!! I just looked up the Pacific Knit Winter Doodle Deck and it looks like its sold out but I'll be watching for it to come back in stock 🤗 I saw on Ravelry that some people really have trouble with the short rows and some have no problem at all, so maybe it varies from size to size! Its so good to hear the pattern worked well for you! I think theres so much you can do with all of the charts so I'm excited to have this pattern for next year's Christmas season too ❤
So excited to see one of you making the Salty Days sweater! I'm about to finish mine today, knitting my last sleeve as we speak. It's such a fun pattern to knit, you'll love it! ❤
I’m so glad to hear you loved the pattern!! It seems like the type of sweater that’ll go fast since you just want to finish each section and see them come together! I’d love to hear how you like it after getting wear it 🤗🤍 ~Jess
Really enjoyed the podcast today and all the knits. I live in Canada and I totally hear you about shipping costs. Work hard not to pay them but trying to not end up with yarn I don’t have plans for 🤭
Thank You both for another wonderful podcast. I enjoy your makes and FOs. Those little sweaters are adorable. What a great way to use up a little bit of yarn. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving day.
Your finished objects and WIPs are all beautiful. Can I ask how long the Oslo hat ended up being from the brim (unfolded) to the top of the crown? I would like to make this but dont want it to end up too long so thought i woudl ask now ahead of time. Thanks so much. :)
Rachel, you can always go in and duplicate stitch the legs, I think the sweater is beautiful,I love all the snowflake ❄️ motifs you chose, all your sweaters are beautiful, I love all of them, that sandes garn cardigan is stunning!
I think I will! I love how the rest of it turned out, but the reindeer antlers and leg make me laugh because the stitches are so far apart 😅 thank you so much!! 💛
I heard Andrea Mowry say it is best to snug the yarn after the second stitch when switching needles in magic loop, not the first stitch. Maybe that would help avoid the line in the sleeve of your cardigan.
Not yet but I want to! I have looked at the pattern and I think the gauge is super similar if not the same as the original Oslo pattern so if I made a mohair version I think I would try it without buying a new pattern 🙈 i think it would be so beautiful with mohair!
Hi! Love your FOs! Definitely wash the black yarn. I do this often. Just as you said - leave the ties on the yarn- in fact I always add more using loosely tied dental floss- that way it won’t move around so much in the soaking and will be easier to wind up! You will feel so much better knowing the dye is out when knitting!! Take care.
Okay I haven’t shared it yet but will in the next podcast! I went back and forth took two cm out and it is so much better! I wish she would update the pattern for a shorter version 😅
Loved your podcast and all the knits. I have used colour catchers as well drop in with smoking helps limit the bleeding of colours. Those sweater ornaments so cute. Of course I was thinking how cute would sparkle threads be on those little ornaments. Also Galt House of Yarn carries a lot of the Sandnes Garn Books and yarn if your looking for another source. Also located in Canada
Sparkle threads would be so cute!! 😍 ohh I’ll have to save the name of that yarn store, but also I have a problem and need to stop buying more patterns than I could possibly knit! Thank you for the suggestions and ideas! ~Jess
Thank you for the tip!! I’m trying vinegar first since I had some in the pantry (and according to girl math that makes it free) but if that doesn’t work I will look into this! ~Jess
Really enjoyed this video!! Was actually knitting the Oslo hat whilst watching. Just a question - did you wet block it? I’ve seen a few videos about the hat being big so now scared to block it incase it ruins it. Thanks!
Yes I did! Maybe that’s a part of it. I haven’t gotten to share this yet but will in our next podcast: I took it back two cm and only steam blocked the crown and I am much happier with it now! So maybe that will help 😊
Before you wash the loops (skeins) of black yarn, be sure to add more ties so that the strands in the loops do not tangle. Nothing worse than tangled yarn.
This was my first time ordering Pickles, but I ordered directly from the website and had no problems! It didn't come with a tracking number, so that was a little nerve-wracking, but it came in about a week and a half 😊
Jessica, regarding your Xmas Sweater which is Beautiful 😍 I suggest you measure your Arm length from the Underarm too the length you require. All knitting patterns are Only a Guide! Adjusting garments for a better fit is not hard. Andrea Mowry talks about this Often. Also for picking up Stitches for a Button Band the Ratio is to pick up every 3/5 stitches from the garment Not Every stitch, this will stretch and is Too Big, the same Needle Size for the Cuffs and Bottom are also used for the Bands.❤
@@thosetwinswhoknit I agree, I love my name so much! I'm Rachel... it means little lamb, and if that isn't the sweetest thing for a lover of all things sheep and wool, I don't know what is!
Our trip won’t be until near the end of summer since it’s for a family wedding, we’re just already thinking about everything we want to do! We hope to spend a few days on the coast, a day or two in Portland, and then the wedding is a little east of Portland. ☺️
Susan B Anderson of Barrett Wool Co. (Wisconsin) sells a little set of 6 wooden mini hangers with a red & white barber cord & a little bag, which you can use for your mini sweaters. She has her own yarn line, kits, & patterns, & also has little holiday garment patterns. (The long johns are adorable!!) Check her out! Her pattern writing is impeccable!
I think so too! Actually watching this back, it looks better in the video than I think it did in real life, so shortening it just a bit will hopefully be all it needs 🤗
Maybe it’s just me, but the hat isn’t bad at all. I’m the opposite, I cannot do hat that fits perfect on. I prefer them a bit loose. I feel like I’m wearing a head condom when it fits too perfect lol
Lol I love that description 😂 watching this back, it actually didn’t look too bad from certain angles! I feel like maybe the way it blocked made the shape look odd, but maybe if it was a little rounder and less flat it would be okay so I may try blocking again before I take it back! 😊
just find your podcast, you are so cute and you knit so cool things... but in 20min I got already 3x add and it's annoying... I would like to sit, knit and watching your podcast, but with so much advertising is not fun...
UA-cam changed their ad policy this month. Creators do not have control over how many ads play, when they play, or what the ads are that are shown. It’s very frustrating. Sorry to hear that this was particularly annoying for this video 😔
Are you watching on the tv? I’ve noticed for some reason (no matter the vid) I will get double or triple the amount of ads on the tv compared to when I use the UA-cam app on my phone. The tv also gives me annoying back to back un-skipable ads. UA-cam has been increasing the amount of ads bc people are using ad blocker, but the extra ads just makes more customers use ad blockers
UA-cam changed their ad policies this month, so unfortunately UA-camrs don’t have control of what ads play, when they play, or if they are skippable 😔 I’m so sorry to hear it’s too much, I know that is so frustrating!!
Hey, about your sweater bleeding soak it in vinegar vinegar stops the color from bleeding from the yarn. Otherwise you’re just gonna keep rinsing the color out.
I’m so glad you commented before I re-washed it! Thank you so much for this advice! I will try it! 🤎 ~Jess
The inhume squeal that came from me seeing the mini sweaters!! Ladies, your Christmas sweaters are gorgeous!! It's very inspiring :)

just find your podcast, you are so cute and you knit so cool things... but in 20min I got already 3x add and it's annoying...
Tooooo many ads. I don’t mind a few but every 5 minutes!! Sadly, moving on.
UA-cam changed their ad policies this month, so unfortunately UA-camrs don’t have control of what ads play, when they play, or if they are skippable 😔 I’m so sorry to hear it’s too much, I know that is so frustrating!!
I only had one add. So strange.
Plus, it’s not
Like they should be doing this for free and for fun. It is an income and they deserve the add income
Beautiful projects 😍🫶🏼 for the Artisane cardigan did you have to purchase a kit in order to get the pattern? 🤎
Thank you! I did not, I was able to order the book by itself from SKD Yarns 🤍 ~Jess
