@@chriscojeen9804 Chris it must have been close to 4 years ago that I wrote that cuz im 69 y.o. now . But I sure do miss Johnny his rock/blues was like nobody else. Still brings a tear to my eye thinking about him being gone and I havent listened to Tokabilitor in a while because it reminds me of all the good times with my friends that are gone also. My phonograph needle about wore holes thru Progressive Blues Experiment !!! HAHA how bout Johnny in that poncho with a prince valiant hair cut. God love him. Have a Blessed day..... Edgar?? That was the absolute most outstanding rendition of Johnny I’ve ever heard!! You own this style. If I didn’t know better I say it was him. You have the explorer tone on the SG too!
Johnny is a legend. Just seeing you play his licks make me love Johnny even more. What an underrated guitar player. How is he not in the rock and roll hall of fame!!!
@@privateer0561 in my opinion he is underrated. Never discussed much when I hear people talk about their top 5 or top 10 favorite guitarist. And he isn’t in the rock and roll hall of fame.
Johnny winter. Big influence on me. Thanks for this. Never had proper lessons. Just a need to get something out of that guitar I bought when I was 14. Thanks to Johnny and all the greats that gave me lessons through my speakers and decades of listening
Thank-you so much for this blast from the past, I'm 62 yrs young ,I'm a drummer and learned to play drums from the Album ,Johnny Winter And Live...,Love your playing, saw Johnny 5 x live , Don't take these video's down, you just gave me a reason to keep playing drums. 👍👍👍
Thanks for the upload. You're an amazing player! My hearts heavy today. I probably spent more time listening to JDW than any other artist growing up in the 60s and 70s. Watching you play Rock Me slow mo made me appreciate his talent even more. As an average player, I think it would take me 2 years to learn it like you did. Great vid. RIP JDW. You will always be with us.
Absolutely stunning!! Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful version. You're an outstanding player who captures the essence of The Master Johnny Winter RIP!
Seen Johnny Winter 4 times the last time I seen him he came out on stage did not say a word and started ripping for 40 min all he said the was Oh-Yeah, A true Master love it.
Any fool crackin' on this guys picking is an idiot. Been listening to Johnny since the late 60's and this guy is as close as it gets to the real thing.
Anyone who who introduces themself to the world with a handle I own a gun with a profile pic of Jimi Hendrix should not be tested. Do as the man says! 🤘
I was shocked to find out that Johnny played through a Music Man 4x10 and a single chorus pedal. Treble maxed mids scooped to zero and bass as well never higher than 2. What a treat to come across this video. Rock on Sir!
I hope you haven't "retired" and that you're still playing. When you take it to the level you've taken it to, it 's become part of who you are. Keep Rocking ! If only to keep our sanity and cause you're great at it.
@Mary Teresa Guitarists don't retire from playing. They only retire from using it for work. We continue to feed our souls and entertain others until the day we either die, or sadly in some cases, are disabled to the point it's impossible to play.
Ha...yes! Totally kickass! I forgot just how friggin' fast Johnny's fingers were back in the day! And this is an exceptional cover...nice lesson in hot blues licks!
Holy Cow, what a spot on version of Johnny's song. I could have easily thought I was listening to Johnny himself. But what impressed me more than anything else was that you made it your own. Great job.
Thanks for this amazing video! This is exactly what I needed to watch to help me escape out of a long struggle with pentatonic cliches. So many cool little things in this video that are relatively easy and sound great! Thank you!
This album i has to be one of the greatest rock/blues records EVER. I Iknow every lyric and every lick in my head to a note. Never really tried playing it because my skill set isn’t quite there but I’m going to give this a shot! Thank you for posting!
That is Beautiful Man. Saw Johnny Winter in a small club in San Jose back in the early 80's. He was less than 4 feet away from me the entire show. I did not learn a single lick that night, I was so overwhelmed. Thanks you so much. Cheers...
Awesome. Johnny W is one of my all time favorite pickers. You video is great! I never can get enuff of watching him or his fans playing in his style. Thanks! ;)
I didn't realize the way you played it is not faithful to the original. I think it is beatifully played, truly amazing. Don't take it off youtube, it is a blues licks clinic. Great job.
Great work! I would say you have really nailed all the essential parts (and added a lotof other great Johnny Winter licks that fit in perfectly. Thanks for sharing this!
I was just on to find a good SRV tune to learn , testify , for to impress a friend ... JDW makes hay out of it ... this is truely STANDARD...the SG is un perfecto , like crazy man , diggit !
This is a fine tutorial on Johnny Winter style. I think the phrasing is very Johnny. Having been a JW fan and player for decades I give you my seal of approval.
I saw Johnny play live in the 80s when he was alligator records era. you got this song nailed..can't find any vids of Johnny teaching guitar..this the next best thing.
