I had the pleasure of seeing this song live in a 500 capacity show in NYC just before COVID. best performance I ever saw, this is by far my favorite song by them!
World of Mercy is a remarkable song, but my god it is Exhausting. Something I'm so amazed about is how Kyo writes such tense, deep lyrics about the beauty and pain in the world - and the band creates that atmosphere with him. They build that world around and beneath his lyrics and his voice to give them life.
Everything about that livestream was harrowing. Rewarding, but just terrifying. There's places Kyo goes live, places he probably shouldn't, it's too real. Feel every second of that song.
Thank you a lot for your great reaction :) Since their last album "The insulated world" consisted of rather short songs, singer Kyo wanted something long as the first single after that. For The World of mercy they mixed and combined two songs together. And they wanted to 'close' the world they created with this album to start something new and different again, hence the connection to Ranunculus.
Thanks for the react! I guess nobody will talk about how absolutely awesome Toshiya looks They all have so much attitude in their respective fields, can't wait for their next releases
Alex you described them perfectly. Dir En Grey is the only band who can bring our suffering to public in such an authentic way. Kyo is a master in these lyrics and exprssion.. I would recommend Dir En grey Embryo with subs. it is about abusing. and it is incredibely deep. They have one of a kind style for what? ^^
This live performance is amazing, but you should also check out the studio version (even if it’s off camera). In my humble opinion, the studio version is more atmospheric and beautiful.
