Dave is a cool dude. His bushcraft survival book is he best I’ve found other than Les Stroud’s ‘Survive!’ It may be even better. This man has incredible knowledge and a great way of expressing it.
PKS are great knives, own several myself.Really enjoy and like the Buffalo Skinner. Met Dave a few years ago, rather awesome guy! Full of a lot of knowledge.
I bought one of the cheapest knives Dave's sales, an I am proud to own that bad boy. It was around 40 bucks, an I still can't believe how well it works.
I stopped halfway, I can't see the knife. Sometimes people make a review of a knife but they keep their hand all over the handle and they don't stop moving it around so we can actually see it
Nice interview. I have the mountain lion also with the SGO Sheath for a year now and it is great. Their 2qt canteen cook set is all i use in the woods on day hicks
I am happy with the Mountain Lion...I have that blade too. Actually I sorta warped the refined edge of the grind by batoning through some stubborn wood, but other than that, it's a great feeling blade.
Love Dave seems like a great guy with lots of knowledge and great outdoor gear stores and his channel only got me more interested in blades gear survival etc. Really like that pks survival knife great looking grind and a great size. I would really love one of those dagger neck knives please sell some on your site I think people would love them I was about to go straight to your site to purchase one until u said there not for sale in your store 😢.
Yeah, great guy. He wouldn't dream of changing his opinion because of money. He'd never sell a knife that went completely against something he preached in the past. Get real. There is no such thing as a one tool option, or anything close to it. Even if there were such a thing, it wouldn't be a knife. There is no chance of being caught with only a knife, and especially not with a knife like that one. It can't happen unless you're too dumb to live. He knows this. But he has a knife to sell. Go back and watch all his shot show videos. It should open your eyes.
With no bolster that ranger conservation knife is a joke. Imagine trying to spike that knife through a lions or rhino skull with no bolster. Only thing your gonna go through is your hand
That's a good point. I didn't look that closely to be honest...as I was focused on filming and editing. I think you're right about the need for a guard on something meant to be that aggressive.
G C :- Absolutely correct. On a regular bushcraft knife, a guard is superfluous, but on a knife that might be used in hard stabbing...then a guard is required, maybe even a double guard.
G C you’re not going to stab through a rhino skull fast enough with any knife and I don’t think that’s the purpose. It’s more likely to be used against smaller animals like cougars and stuff. And they also carry firearms so why would they bother fighting a lion or rhino with a knife. I get your point though. You’d be better off with a big bolster and fingerguard on a knife like this
Who, battle horse? He's had his own knife company for a number of years now...it makes sense that he would use them to make the blades. I have a couple of them...I can't really honestly say they are totally like battle horse...different choice of materials, but still a bush style knife for sure.
It was blind horse at first, then it split into two different businesses, battlehorse and lt wright knives, Dave is/ friends with both but had always said he would build his own in front of both owners multiple times on UA-cam. I remember thinking wow they don't mind? But when you're doing good you don't mind. I bet since sales seem to have slowed down they would. But yes, he always maintained that he would. Even toured their shops to learn.
How often a ranger has to pierce the skull of an attacking animal? Is there ever enough time to even be remotely successful with a move like this? Even so, would you consider buying this just because it has that feature?
I can't even pretend to know what a ranger needs to do. But I think people would consider buying the knife because it is a limited edition exclusive that has a charity aspect to it. Just my thoughts.
There are a lot of knives released that while they have certain design elements, are not always used for that intended purpose. His ideas was a new knife design, and donation to their cause. I’m sure people will find many uses for the blade and am glad he stepped up to help design it!
@@DailyCarrySolutions I understand the purpose, the cause and the need for a design to serve that cause. The value of limited numbers too. However, I was stating a whole different thing, that has nothing to do with donations, new designs, causes etc. No need to repeat the question. Just forget it. Indirectly, I got my answer. Is it a heresy to question the words of Canterbury? Even when he's giving hilarious reasons and user applications?
Horrible camera man he talked about the new knife how it can pierce the head of an animal.. and about the design but the cameraman did not show it did not show the knife or he showed it for like 10 seconds and then he went back to looking at Dave again show the knives we're here for the knives not for Dave we could hear Dave talk about the knife we came here to see the knives wow... But I think outer limitless that guy was maning in the camera...I hope Outer limitless did not do this on Purpose..
Or have you ever thought that maybe it was our first show working together and we were learning how to film an event like this and since then we've filmed like 200 features together... most of which are chalk full of great blade footage and content? Could that be the reason? Just a hunch. I would love to see how you do at a show like this... let me know when you have your post ready and I'll critique you.
The knives Dave Canterbury shows are almost all as silly as it gets. People who buy knives like that are living in a fantasy. The Wildcat is the only good, sensible, real world knife in the lot. Which is probably why he carries it. yet still he hawks the other knives that would make the person who carried one a laughing stock out in the wilderness. Guess that's why I never could see things for a living. I'm great at selling things I really know about, really believe in, but not things I know are silly or useless out in the real world.
I think there are a bunch of great options in their blade lineup. I have the Mountain Lion...it's awesome. I feel like many of their designs are similar, yet different enough to fit someone's nees.
James Richie :- It is difficult to come up with a new design for a bushcraft knife. The basic design has been around for thousands of years, so to break into the marketplace the knife pattern has to be jazzed up...tacti-cool-it . Unfortunately these newer designs are often less functional than more plain patterns. For example, most Scandi blades are very similar, and the same holds true for machetes, swords, axes, etc. Form follows function. The Pathfinder knives are acceptable designs, but depending on your knife usage, and on the other tools in your "chest" eg. saw or axe...there are simpler, less aggressive knives out there that will do the job, without you looking like a woodland warrior.
'Thats an exceptional knife'!!. Hahaha.. youve never even had it in your hand never mind used it!! Kiss kiss suck suck!! Amazed D C stood there and swallowed it up. But then ... !??
My knife collection won't be complete without a Dave knife.
Thanks a lot again for supporting our cause, Dave!
One advice - when you talk about knives ... SHOW THEM instead of people - we can still hear them in the background.
It's the nature of the show...it's a whirlwind of activity...so the interview is sometimes the focus of the video, as is the case in this one.
Dave is a cool dude. His bushcraft survival book is he best I’ve found other than Les Stroud’s ‘Survive!’ It may be even better. This man has incredible knowledge and a great way of expressing it.
yeah les is awesome

I have the mountain lion...great knife...strong, sharp as hell, and stout for sure!

Which model did you get? Definitely sweet blades!
I can't find it on the site, I can send a photo, just not sure how in this format
Awesome review… awesome blades.
Awesome work, love all those blades
Thanks. That was an awesome video to film! David is awesome!
I stopped halfway, I can't see the knife. Sometimes people make a review of a knife but they keep their hand all over the handle and they don't stop moving it around so we can actually see it
It's not a review. It's an interview
we wont this knifes in Europe at same USA price! Dave: do somethings!
Really enjoyed this video keep up the great work be blessed
Thanks, I appreciate it...thanks for watching!
GREAT VIDEO !!! Dirty by design. Looks like really good knives.
They are great knives...I have the mountain lion...it's been solid.

Dave seems like a good dude
I like Dave...he has always been very accommodating, professional, and knowledgeable in my interactions with him

James Ritchie 🙄
What an honor....Dave is a great guy. You should have said...."Mind if I lay my skinners on that bad boy?"
Wow I want one of those Neck knives that were only available at the show !
Yes, the daggers? Those are sweet!!
I love them knives

You know I really don't need to see the guys talking I would really rather just listen to them and see the freaking knife
Can't see the knife
How do you feel about the d2 kabar extreme production knife??
It looks cool... like many of their other designs. I like D2 as a good working steel
Did he mention jeff white bush knives?
Awesome content.... Thank you!
so basicly he realised blackhorse knives was a middleman cutting into his profit so he took their style and made them himself.
