If you get the time, I would much appreciate you filming a video about some simple stuff that could work against a knife attacks. I know I'm being cheeky with my requests to a busy man, but something along the lines to get one out of the jam that knives bring would truly be appreciated on my part. Sorry for bothering you and Cheers!
Enjoyed the video very much thanks. When I could carry a flat sap as a cop (retired for many years now) it was an effective tool. In the winter I would carry the sap in my right hand glove. Our saps were long with a strap and flat steel spring in the handle and flat lead in the head portion. In plainclothes we would put it in a paper bag tied with a rubber band and stuck it in our back jeans pocket because the handle stuck out. We called it our little bags of pain. When they told us no more saps but issued collapsible batons they weren’t half as effective as the saps.
I have carried one for years. It is very easy to forget that a Sap has 5 striking edges. The two flat sides, the two ridged sides, and the tip. They are incredibly effective when used to jab with. The extra reach always surprises. The flat sides for striking at joints or thinly fleshed areas. The ridged sides for breaking forearms or colarbones. They are legal where I live.
The 2 edges of a sap are devastating against collarbone or radius arm bone. Don't forget the butt end of the grip, which counts as a 6th striking surface. Hammer style blows on the opponent's face using the butt of the sap.
I have a Fosters Cablejack and man would this thing crush bones. Here in Arizona it's legal but I would not want to hit anyone in the head even half force unless I was fighting for my life.
Early in my police career, (1970) in S. California, I carried a sap, and used it, with mixed results. Usually with someone with heavy amounts of alcohol or pain killers onboard. I even had, and can neither confirm nor deny, possession of sap-gloves. Same results. Saps, blackjacks, billy clubs and the like, all kind of ran out of favor among cops with the development of the Kel-Light flashlights, and similar tools. Now in retirement I simply bore them to death with old war-stories. 😴
I did like the Mag Lite 3 C cell flashlight. I like 3 cell Cs because it would fit in my baton Ring and I could put it in my pocket without it falling out. It still had enough heft to ring bells.
How did the sap-gloves work for you? I have a pair, but idk if they would actually add any significant amount of power compared to just hard knuckle gloves off of Amazon
Reminds me of those round palm saps, with a little leather ring for the middle finger, little more low profile. But still hard to explain away as a paperweight :)
I have Boston leather sap and ASP steel agent baton. But boy I do not want to use them but they may have their day. I always carry a gun but rarely carry them. The asp is to defeat aggressive dogs that do not merit a kinetic solution. I consider the sap deadly force and would only use it as such.
No beat cop. Kelly was a special missions officer and has deployed all over the world and in many places "we weren't supposed to be" I have trained many times with Kelly and can say he's a world class instructor. You are only seeing a sliver of what he really goes over in a course. You can Google him and find much about him. Matt.
In the early '70s, I was undercover Md. special police at a huge high-end mall outside of DC. I carried an 11" Bucheimer blackjack (Texan, I guess). I am fairly sure I did not receive any training. I opted out of carrying a gun (you shouldn't be shooting shoplifters). However, I knew not to use it to the head. It could kill someone or cause severe damage. I had to use it on a few occasions when there was more than one person attacking me when I tried to handcuff them. Striking the knees and elbows was all that was necessary to subdue someone. I rarely followed through on a strike. Shoplifters and car thieves got the message with a slight whack. I can see why the Texan would be outlawed.
Thank you for this important secrets. Well I am searching a seller of this kind of saps and blackjacks in EU or even better in Germany. Do you have any good seller that you can recommend? Thanks
Neither is supposed to be illegal. Both are constitutionally protected. The difference is that guns are more useful for the primary intended purpose of that constitutional amendment, so people have been more thorough about protecting that aspect of the right.
As I get older, I appreciate these older film noir tools.
…right? 😂😂

I can neither confirm nor deny that I frequently carry the coin purse you gave me.
😂😂😂🙏🏻💪🏻
Now legal in Texas. I carry one(sap)
Author of the only book ever on these kinds of weapons here, excellent video, just subbed.

@@alberttang6955 I will remember that for sure!
I'd much rather see cops using saps and doing SOME damage than cops using lethal stopping power because they're frightened by a squirrel.
Or Acorn
@@Almosteasyesebeat me to it.
Excellent video 📹 👍!!! Thank you!!!
I own a sap and two blackjacks by the Fosters brothers, really good quality. Its easy to imagine the knock out power they can generate...

Saps, blackjacks, and brass knuckles are all legal here in TX. An armed society is a polite society.
But while in the US Navy, on shore liberty, a roll of coins wrapped up in the dress uniform neckerchief made a handy defensive device. 😇

The Sap really delivers lethal power?
I dig this guy. I feel like he was a beat cop for at least a few years and not in BH or irvine.

Must have been fun to be a cop in the olden days.
Absolutely beautiful design, well done sir.
Do not be unarmed, my sisters and brothers!! GOD bless America 🇺🇸
That is a cool idea having it double as a coin purse type of thing. I want one just for having something so I don’t lose my keys.
Legality is something to worry about later. My own safety comes first.
Good information.
Yet now criminals go free for using the same defense devices
That's life for ya It sucks same thing with Guns too
Brilliant ... WOW
Where can you find the leather coin pouch by greenman? My GoogleFu came up empty. Thanks!
They may be out of business now, sadly
Look up Mean Gene Leather. I can vouch for the quality.
These are commonly part of many intelligence officers improvised weapons when abroad without access to most weapons
Smart stuff, thanks
I have a weighted bookmark.
Legal in Texas.
I'm a 76 year old man , and would buy your beautiful changer .
Excellent
4:27 Absolutley...lol no truer words ever said. You gotta cover your ass.

Just say you were mall security man. It’s ok. So was I.

Or pirahna bikky cliubs
How can I buy one of your change carrier , thanks .
My favorite hand weapon is a roll of coins. It's not illegal to carry and can add weight and power to my punch & hammer fist.
Fist loads should be malleable in your hand. Using anything stiff (coin rolls, rebar, etc) is almost guaranteed to break your fingers…
Love mine I got from you a little while back. Thank you semper Fi oorahha
Semper Fidelis
Where can I purchase that key chain brown coin sap that u had in the beginning of the video? Please respond? Thank you.
The maker is now out of business
Look up Mean Gene Leather’s Hot Tamale. Not the same but pretty good
Where can you get these in united Kingdom
Where can I get one?
Bag tag will take anyone out of the fight
🤙🏻
what with the tool being so short is there a possibilty of damaging your fingers if you hit the target wrong
User error is always possible but we’ve never experienced any issues
Denver Colorado allows officers to carry
I'm from Scotland whare everything for self defence is illegal I find it funny saps and blackjacks are illegal in the USA but guns are just fine
