My father and I never realy got along, and one year for his birthday I took him to to see The Who in Long Beach, Ca... and although we still never realy saw eye to eye after, even up until he passed away.. I'll allways have that night.
"Hendrix made love to his guitar. Pete f***s his." And you know, sometimes that's just what you need. My favorite part is the way he beats the hell out of that tambourine. Ahh, I love angry Pete.
The Who are so underrated. One of the most influential bands in rock & roll AND music history. They deserve a lot more credit and recognition in my opinion. They're just awesome. R.I.P Keith and John. This song is beautifull, so catchy and awesome. Okay i'll shut up now lolol.
+ProblemChimp truth be told Moonie was at his lowest at this point..he was out of practice and rough from drinking and not playing much.......at yet at his lowest he was still better than most peoples best....but your right, what a force the 4 of them were!
Absolutely unbelievable performance. At the top of their game. Barely contained explosion of energy. Watching this band of Brothers perform this classic hit at such a high level of execution is inspiring. Saw them in Denver a few years ago and I just couldn’t believe they were still performing at that level. Here’s to these four iconic artists and their support team.
Such language !! Zep were ok I suppose but hardly original. I saw a few bands in the UK around that time who were better but didn't get the breaks or luck to make it big. By the way, did you know Keith Moon thought of the name Led Zeppelin.
***** Music, as you know, is a matter of personal taste. If I gave you a list of bands it wouldn't mean anything to you as they were local. More famous ones would be,for example, Groundhogs, Family, Pink Faries, Edgar Broughton Band, Blossom Toes, Stackwaddy , Chicken Shack, Fresh Maggots and I could go on. Anyway that's just my opinion anyway. Check them out on UA-cam.
Out here in the fields I fight for my meals I get my back into my living I don't need to fight To prove I'm right I don't need to be forgiven No no no no no Don't cry Don't raise your eye It's only teenage wasteland Sally, take my hand Travel south crossland Put out the fire Don't look past my shoulder The exodus is here The happy ones are near Let's get together Before we get much older Teenage wasteland, Oh yeah It's only teenage wasteland Teenage wasteland, Oh yeah It's only Teenage wasteland They're all wasted! (Now you just listen and watch the video!!)
I LOVE this !! potent, powerful and passionate sounds from The Who . Takes me back to a field and an all night party out in the country , near Evreaux France . This blasted out over the loudspeakers as the sun was rising , we all woke up whirling and dancing xxxx Many thanks and much love M xxx
Do you reckon, he was fucked by this time lifestyle had really caught up with him. Want to see him at his best have a look at the Who at the Isle of Wight 1970 and see the difference.
Robcatist I'm sure he was better from start to finish earlier in his career but his drumming and Pete's singing on this version is superior to earlier performances that were more faithful to the studio version. This version is freer and played with more abandon.
Wilkster111 1D = One Direction; their song 'Best Song Ever' sounds pretty much the same as Baba O'Riley, except this is leaps and bounds better than Best Song Ever.
Roger Daltrey has one of the straight-up ballsiest voices in rock. I never had the opportunity to see the original line-up live, but did see the more modern version of 'The Who' about 5 years ago. They place still exploded the minute the opening synth riff for this tune started. Sent shivers down my spine!
AWESOME In-Your-Face Rock anthem!. I am 48 and trying to get out there & pound the pavement for a job-again-and this gets me going. Was watching "Behind the Music" the other day-it WAS addictive, then. Topic-"Bon Jovi" Apparently Jon's vocal chords were worn out on tour. See Roger Daltry-he belted every note out. Pete was his wiser counterpoint-and maybe a bit of a rest-but still! My 11 year old son is a rocker, and he adores the Who, Zeppelin, and "the artistry" of the Beatles.
Ouvir músicas de rock dos anos 70 é voltar no tempo, uma viagem muito louca,e dá para ter cerfteza eu os melhores músicos foram gerados nessa época 1950 à 1970
Did everyone realize that jazzman Terry Riley's 'Persian Surgery Dervishes' was the inspiration for Baba O'Riley? Today is Terry Riley's 80th B-Day. ~Happy Birthday Terry! Everyone who enjoys this song is indebted to your creative genius!
Im 15 and today we listened to this song in class. And when we asked him who it was by he said The Who. About only 3 of us knew who the Who were. This is why I have no faith in my generation.
I went to aconcert in 68/69 in Dunfermline the kinema what a night that was they all went mental on stage that night smashed everything and we smashed everything else what a night never forget brilliant
Its actually a recorded loop playback that Pete Townsend made by accident before writing the song. Just experimenting around on the Moog. Some of it is played backwards. Keith Moon wore the headphones to keep time with the playback because he couldn't hear clearly it on the floor monitor. Prelude to the modern in-ear monitors I guess?
A kid asked me today, "What music did you like growing up?"
"The Beatles," I replied.
"The who?" he said.
"Yeah, I liked them too."
Genius.
I'm 12 years old and i absolutely get it😅
My father and I never realy got along, and one year for his birthday I took him to to see The Who in Long Beach, Ca... and although we still never realy saw eye to eye after, even up until he passed away.. I'll allways have that night.
Ok...thanks for that
Marc Butler leave the guy alone ffs
And keep it for EVER in your heart
Noodles37UK huh?
That memory of your dad, when his gone.
Pete was definitely feeling himself too strongly that day, love the dance at 4:39 😂
That was the acid hirl
Hector Vazquez It was the joy of having money in the bank.
Hahahahahah! :-)
Hector Vazquez Thanks man, big smiles, with a drink in me.
Dude had some serious coke, lol.
"Hendrix made love to his guitar. Pete f***s his." And you know, sometimes that's just what you need.

Underrated, you must have completely seen a different show.
The first UA-cam video I ever saw, still my favourite song and I return religiously. Wish new music had half of this talent and soul.
4:36 This final dance of Pete Townshend, is 100% better than the dances of today.
Must be hard not to produce great music when your band has 4 musical geniuses at the top of their game.
+ProblemChimp truth be told Moonie was at his lowest at this point..he was out of practice and rough from drinking and not playing much.......at yet at his lowest he was still better than most peoples best....but your right, what a force the 4 of them were!
+RowdyMoon Magill Yeah, this was his very last gig... He died about 3 months later.
Daltry is one of rocks all time great singers. What a voice.
Favorite live version of this song! Thank goodness it was capture on 16mm film. Best live band EVER!
R.I.P. KEITH MOON - JOHN ENTWISTLE !!!!!
Have no doubt. The Who is the greatest Rock 'n' Roll band of all time.
1:54 booty shake to windmill to power stance to shoulder shake to crazy legs. awesome stuff.

THE BEST ROCK N ROLL BAND EVER!!!!!!!! THE BACK DROP OF MY ENTIRE YOUTH! THANK YOU ROGER,PETE,JOHN,AND KEITH!!
Absolutely unbelievable performance. At the top of their game. Barely contained explosion of energy. love how Keith had to duct tape the headphones to his head. he was so crazy they would have flown off him!
Wow! That's some pretty unbelievable musicianship. Feel bad I ignored this band for so many years.
Darren N I agree, it took me a long time to realise how good they were. Trying to make up for lost time now!
@@algeebop look at that drummer! He's all just drumming the synthesizer track!
@@algeebop One day..... I will be just like him.
I don't understand how anyone can listen to this song and not be completely blown away and realize that there life will never be the same
Listen to John Entwistle's bass tone. massive
The Who : Three of the biggest egos in rock and the LOUDEST bass player in the world. What a band !!!
Such language !! Zep were ok I suppose but hardly original. I saw a few bands in the UK around that time who were better but didn't get the breaks or luck to make it big. By the way, did you know Keith Moon thought of the name Led Zeppelin.

It just does not get much f'ing better! They were AWESOME!!! and this SONG is an awesome ROCK anthem!
Out here in the fields
I fight for my meals
I get my back into my living
I don't need to fight
To prove I'm right
I don't need to be forgiven
No no no no no
Don't cry
Don't raise your eye
It's only teenage wasteland
Sally, take my hand
Travel south crossland
Put out the fire
Don't look past my shoulder
The exodus is here
The happy ones are near
Let's get together
Before we get much older
Teenage wasteland, Oh yeah
It's only teenage wasteland
Teenage wasteland, Oh yeah
It's only Teenage wasteland
They're all wasted!
(Now you just listen and watch the video!!)
Gracias House, por enseñarme de esta gran banda.
hahahha vine por lo mismo, bendito house
Jajaja
jaj yo igual jaj
grandisima
Tank top perming brilliance.
It takes a certain level of "Manliness" to pull off a tank top! ;-) Awesome.
One Direction totally ripped this song off with 'Best Song Ever.'
+Tracey Claver You mean "best copy ever" ?
Behold, the Worlds most beautiful Song!!!
That's how you play a tambourine!
THE WHO - One of the best bands to ever exist. They give off such incredible energy that no other band could.
I had forgotten the craziness, so good to be back! :-)
WHO could ever replicate this.
I LOVE this !!
potent, powerful and passionate sounds from The Who .
Takes me back to a field and an all night party out in the country , near Evreaux France . This blasted out over the loudspeakers as the sun was rising , we all woke up whirling and dancing xxxx
Many thanks and much love
M xxx
This is what music is about... the beauty of the feels...
3:53 the absolute windmill!!
The most defiant, muscular, masculine song ever written!
Strange, I never thought of it that way...it was just all teenage angst for me.
I like how john entwistle is standing in one place the whole time while the rest of the band smashes guitars, twirls microphones, and breaks drums.
Dang- Now I'm awake and fired up ! Awesome
i fucking love this song.
The who are simply perfect hands down.
IKR :D!!
Hier zeigt sich wie viel Energie Feuer Wasser Luft und Erde auf der Bühne sind! The Who bleiben für mich nach wie vor die beste Band aller Zeiten ❤❤❤❤
めっちゃ好き❤❤❤
Keith Moon is really on his game here.
I see why 1D copied the likeness of this song; this could easily be the best song ever.
whats 1D? is it like 2D
Wilkster111
1D = One Direction; their song 'Best Song Ever' sounds pretty much the same as Baba O'Riley, except this is leaps and bounds better than Best Song Ever.
Yazzo I wonder if it was a tribute of some sort or just a rip off.
Chris Pie All After listening to it, it does sound like it but their version sounds like this version but with no talent.
Yazzo Shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath!!!
Here because of Family Guy
Dude same 😂😂😂
jajaj,, same here!
Seriously? Then I should give the Family Guy a shot then? :)
I'm here because I love music.
Hahahahah family guy to
I can watch this a zillion times !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pure heaven !...I wanna play the drums like Keith ! Hell yeah !
O GRANDE THE WHO TA IMORTALIZADO .
OMG 1:53 THE BUTT SHAKE
This song is just perfect for Saturday's hangover!! Thank you the WHO! :D
John just stands there and just plays that bass like a guitar.
lol they stole that riff from 1D fail!!
Abe Wichers troll boiii
one direction stole their riff bro.
jajajajajajajajajajaja who is one direction???
A shitty pop boy band from the UK that makes easy slutty girls wet.
yeah a 70's/80's/90's band stole a riff from a shitty boy band who formed after 2010
unbelievable. should be called teenage wasteland though
Look at the BEAST of a bass guitar! awesome!
reminds me of roller skating in the 80s, this was always the last all skate song at the rink~!
Roger Daltrey has one of the straight-up ballsiest voices in rock. I never had the opportunity to see the original line-up live, but did see the more modern version of 'The Who' about 5 years ago. Happy birthday john. The god of bass guitar players.

AWESOME In-Your-Face Rock anthem!. I am 48 and trying to get out there & pound the pavement for a job-again-and this gets me going.

My 11 year old son is a rocker, and he adores the Who, Zeppelin, and "the artistry" of the Beatles.
Great video! Nice having Keith on drums. Who's Next and Live at Leeds were my go to vinyl in college.
son geniales..el guitarra esta sublime
Ouvir músicas de rock dos anos 70 é voltar no tempo, uma viagem muito louca,e dá para ter cerfteza eu os melhores músicos foram gerados nessa época 1950 à 1970

Just saw these guys last night at Staples Center. So freaking Great!
Kingscrib No I didn't. I always wondered where the song title came from since it's nowhere in the lyrics.
GREAT MUSIC NEVER EVER GETS OLD!!
im 14 and absolutely love this song, it will never get old
Saw this at theater when it came out.
It literally changed my life.
Entwistle, fret grind at 0.52,, It was all over from there....

Last day of summer vacation, I'm listening to The Who!
Never knew what this was called until I heard it on XFM this morning, cheers XFM!
The keyboards for we elders were something magic, you can imagine the whole song!
