One thing I like about your videos, collectively, is that you try to explain your thinking, including the parts that you probably wouldn't think consciously about if you weren't making a video. Learning the technical aspects of drawing or any other medium takes research, work and, especially, time. But learning how and when to make the key artistic choices that are needed to make a piece your own and/or to elevate it beyond the ordinary is something that we don't hear a lot about on UA-cam (or Patreon, for that matter). But, you do seem to make an effort at this. Thank you for that.

My dear Sir you truly are a master at your craft. I am completely and utterly envious, lol. Your skill is just incredible, I also love Greg"Craola" Simkin's art work. His paintings are a bafflement to my senses. His medium of Acrylic paints with a touch of dry retardant is impressive. Could you add a reflection of what the eye actually see? You're so great at the eye. How do you look into a real eye to draw it. Do you have a doctor's tool to look into it? You're extremely kind by teaching your art. I am 74 years old and really can't afford to finance your career. I have been painting portraits since I was 13. Self taught, thought. Couldn't afford to go to an art school, had to work since I was young. But painting have always been my passion. I never thought of painting one particular part of the body and master it as you have with eyes. You're amazing! Thanks for sharing. Wish you success in your career, you deserve it!

The whole book is of irises. Self explanatory.
May I ask how much time you spend on a drawing of that size? Would it be different if you were drawing an unfamiliar subject vs a familiar one? I think your emphasis on a “plane of sharp focus” is one reason why your drawings look like photographs. Thanks for these tutorials showing your process!
