I love that area. Used to ride it alot many years ago. This has inspired me to maybe go revisit that part of the Pisgah Trail system. Except for Black Mtn. That is alot of suffering.
Avery is awesome!! Clint noticed I could here an extra rattle on your bike. at 5:29 when going over the cut log sounded like maybe your headset, but at speed thinking maybe your dropper or something seems loose. Keep Shred,N
Sentinel is running smooth and quiet. I think that sound was a rocks shifting around under my tires. But who knows. The GoPro mics can pick up all kind of things, even hydration pack tubes bouncing around.
Nice, did a group ride up to Middle Black and Lower Black with a local Asheville outdoor clothing company named "Weevil". So fun and there were some speedsters on the ride too. They are in the process of re-routing Middle Black so the route we took won't be there much longer.
I rode up Avery Creek last year (a ton of trees down so the downhill was basically not rideable). I wouldn't recommend riding up Avery Creek! Brutally steep on the lower section. The tunnel of trees at the mid section near the trail crossing is very cool though.
Just rode Bennett and black before they shut it down, hopefully ride Avery next week! How long ago did you ride here looks recent , the conditions have been perfect. Thank you for the video it’s nice to be able to share with others who don’t ride or who want to come ride with me. They can see what all the fun is about.
Did you go down black mountain? Climb is soul crushing and a lot of it is pushing the bike honestly but on the way down that sentinel will have to give all it's got :)
kind of a silly question, but being a xc rider ....... that looks great going up but not down of course. Do you see folks climb up and then just turn around before the downhill? Do you end up catching a ride back to your car when you are done with the downhill? Or, are there better trails for xc on pisgah?
The first time I rode these trails I was on an XC bike with a 71° head angle in 80 mm travel... that was a long time ago and I survived. You can do it you just have to go slower on the downhills. Dupont State Forest is probably better for shorter travel bikes. But I love this type of riding. Long climbs and then fast, fun and rough descent. If you just want to ride your XC bike in Pisgah and not get beat up but still get a good workout, there are a ton of dirt roads to ride.
Was middle black open and ridable? I've heard it is being reworked and possibly rerouted. I'm heading up next week and wanted to ride Avery and middle/lower black. Always enjoy your videos on everything. Not sure how hard it would be, but a link to your parking spot and ride route would be awesome.
I agree, Clint always has great videos. I do like your idea about adding a link for the parking spot and ride route. Heading out there in July and that would be helpful. Thanks
Sweet POV for such a sweet trail! Yeah !
I'm a new subscriber and I like the way you don't over commentate on your videos you let the video do the talking.
I rode this area almost every Sunday for 15 years, starting in 1990. Big fun then... Big fun now..... with a lot more cush.
Perfect, I’m on my way to Pisgah for 4th of July week.

Middle and Lower Black are awesome, especially lower.
Nice to see you back doing a trail ride video.
It's nice to be back!
Love the video Clint. Going to Kanuga next Saturday and I belive I will follow that up with Avery Creek. Just looks like to much fun not to. Cheers.
Such an awesome trail!

Great to see you riding without reference to your recent ITB issues!
Yes!

I've got a video coming out Sunday of middle and lower black.
I will definitely do this ride next time I make it to brevard!👍🏻👍🏻

rode this on my xc hardtail this summer, not recommended... haha, was holding on so tight my hands were numb by the end.
Where is the no roller blading sign?... always gave me a sigh of relief after that climb
Watching from Philippines
Pure ride video!💪 really got a sense of the trail.

Last Thursday to Sunday.
hey clint did you climb up clawhammer rd??
Yes. I've never gone up Avery road to club but I thought about it.
I’m a little confused, you did part of black mountain and it led into Avery?
Up claw hammer, left on Black Mountain, left on Avery Creek.
@@ClintGibbs thank you, I’ll be hitting this next week
Sweet! Get your climbing legs ready for a claw hammer and the start of Black Mountain! Enjoy.
I guess thats where Ebikes have their place. Way more turns in a day.
Yea, it looked like a 45 min climb and 9 minutes down.
@@robtodd4726 That’s about right. I did that same route a couple weeks ago, and was like....yeah, this is what emtbs are for.
Are e-mtb allowed there? Asking for a friend 😉

Great video, I saw you mentioned someone passing you on an e-bike. Are those allowed in Pisgah trails ? Can you rent them in the area?
Those technically are not allowed in Pisgah.
Are ebikes allowed?
Not in Pisgah

My son and I are going up mid June. Do you know when they’re rerouting
Upper black is already shut down. Middle black doesn't change until end of July.
Great video 😊
insane! how would I fare on my trance 29 (assuming I make the climb)?
Trance would be fine. Would have to pick lines a bit better than on an Enduro bike

He parked at horse stables
@@danielvillada277 thanks Daniel!
You missed a jump, in fact you missed all of them ;-)
I didn’t miss them at all. I saw every single one of them 😉
“He’s on an e-bike” which aren’t allowed in Pisgah, why we can’t have nice things! Follow the rules folks!
Dude, why don't you just move up here.
Trust me, it's something I think about often.
Great downhill run. Almost got motion sickness watching it.👍🚵🚵
