Black mineral salt tastes of egg because of its sulfur essence. It might be a good substitute for the tamari for a more egg-like experience

Heck no. Dont REMOVE the only bit of moisture in it. lol

Love tofu scramble…… want to let you know a way kewl ingredient to take a scramble to the next level ….. kala namak … aka black salt. It is a product from India. It has a sulfur like taste and smell, so it adds a truer “egg” like flavor profile.
So anytime you want that eggy taste kala namak is your best friend. Try it ….. love it.

I was intrigued with the flavor combination, using curry and nutritional yeast, for example. I headed to the kitchen and found I had one tiny hot pepper. I crumbled the squeezed tofu in the pan, added the yeast, turmeric, curry and black pepper. Meantime, I minced up a tiny bit of onion and a handful of spinach, which I sliced thin. At the end I put in all the vegs and stirred around. Served with a bit of black salt and WOW! Thank you so much for this inspiration!!

There are many versions of scrambled tofu and it depends on taste.just like she said it absorbs what ever flavour you add. You could add some silken to it to give it more smoothness and some stock or water to give it a bit of moisture again. I think this one is would be dry but that may be a preference. With tofu you can do anything to make it to your taste.

A diet high in protein, particularly animal protein, may help elderly individuals function at higher levels physically, psychologically, and socially, according to a study. The research suggests that as people age, their ability to absorb or process protein may decline. To compensate for this loss, protein requirements may increase with age.

I think putting the poblano & jalapeño in pan first & sautéed with some finely chopped onion & extra virgin olive oil & then add the tofu & seasonings & maybe add some chopped up fresh spinach ... I’ve been a vegetarian for 40 years now (turn 80 y/o in a month) & that scrambled tofu didn’t look too appetizing ... too dry.

It looks dried out. I might be inclined to use 1/2T of tahini thinned out with water, mix it with the spices and less nutritional yeast and mix it together beforehand and then add it to the tofu that I brown in the pan. Then it would be more creamy like scrambled egg would be.

I want to thank you for all you have done to make WFPB cooking fun, accessible, and delicious. I normally enjoy your videos and your recipes, but in my opinion this one missed the mark. Instead of your usual playful banter, the tone of this video seemed stressed or even strident. The recipe itself appeared so dry as if you were sautéing a lot of extra nutritional yeast that was sticking to the pan instead of the tofu. I would not want to be the one trying to clean that pan with all its stuck on bits. One cup of nutritional yeast seems like a lot for the amount of tofu used. Perhaps less nutritional yeast could have been used or the tofu could have been coated first with the nutritional yeast and spices so any excess could have been “shaken off” if that was the effect you were going for? Thanks again for all you have done to educate and keep us deliciously fed with WFPB food. Although this was not a memorable episode or recipe, I look forward to future episodes

Why do vegans and vegetarians try to make it look like or call it something else..it is scrabled tofu not scrabled eggs, its Tempe not chicken etc... you want those things..eat them otherwise why can't we say what ever the staring plant product is.... ???????

    • @CastledarkDweller27
      @CastledarkDweller27 2 роки тому +5

Oh for crying out loud. They are NOT even calling it scraMbled eggs. Look at the title of the video..."TOFU SCRAMBLE!"
It is what it is! And pfffft....carnivores dont own the rights to the word SCRAMBLE.
PS...it's nice for new vegans or people trying to incorporate more plant meals into their diet to have an IDEA of what the meal that they're ordering or trying to cook from a recipe, will be like. THAT'S why we call something TEMPEH CHICKEN. It clearly communicates that it's made of tempeh (so nobody was killed for this meal) but u can expect it to resemble chicken in either looks or taste or texture....or if u are really lucky, all 3.
And NO. "you want those things...eat them" That is NOT how we do things.
WE LIKE THE TASTE OF CHICKEN AND SCRAMBLED EGGS OR MEAT. that's not in question. What we DISLIKE is the piles of unhealthy saturated fat in animal products.
& what we OBJECT TO is the taking of an innocent sentient beings life ~ just to give us a meal that's gone in ten mins. ESPECIALLY since it's NOT NECESSARY these days cos we have a multitude of fab alternatives available now & can still enjoy those flavours & textures anyway!

@@patricialynveal4017 but yes i agree...it's best to just tell the damn truth.
      call something what it is.
for example: "TOFU SCRAMBLE" is what it is.
it's tofu but it's all scrambled up!
      have a nice day : )

This only looks like scrambled eggs. Curry? Turmeric? Not interested in a very dry curry tofu... Usually, I omit turmeric when people add it for color because it ruins the flavor of the whole dish. I only add turmeric in authentic Indian dishes because they know how to best pair turmeric with other Indian spices.
It probably smelled and tasted just like Indian food and not at all like eggs.
Too dry. It nearly resembles the _burnt_ scrambled eggs my younger brother likes because he doesn’t really understand that browning your eggs and rubberizing them is usually considered _bad._
Sometimes I really wish you would try some actual animal products to compare the flavor. You don’t have to swallow lol. Veganism is a cult...
This doesn’t resemble scrambled eggs in the slightest bit in flavor.
Well... It did look too good to be true lol.
This should be renamed to “dry curry tofu.” There’s nothing remotely reminiscent of _scrambled_ eggs outside of the color and texture of this food...
As somebody who loves actual eggs but can’t have them because of an allergy, this is really disappointing. I’m not plant-based for the animals. This is a “vegan for the animals” kind of recipe...
