Her daughter is four year old and Mom is still picking out her clothes for her and dressing her up like she's going to Sunday School, in a fancy dress and pantie hose. Speaking as a girl, I HATED wearing hose as a child because they were hot and itchy and uncomfortable. Why isn't Mom allowing her daughter to pick HER OWN clothes and allow her to have some independence and freedom to discover her own style and identity. And I think it is WAY too harsh to PADDLE her 4 year old child AND give her a timeout, just for crying over not wanting to be stuffed into these fancy clothes. As Marmee from Little Women wisely said "If you hit and humiliate a child, the only lesson she will learn is to hit and humiliate." Mom is treating Avery like she is a living doll and expecting her to be perfect and she is playing dress up with her doll. She's not allowing her daughter to change her mind or have her own style choices....even if she gives her daughter some pre-selected options that match and let her choose from those options. At least it would be HER CHOICE. She is being way too strict and unreasonable with her expectations....the child is FOUR, not sixteen....and the child is chafing under her Mom's impossibly high standards. Speaking as an Auntie who is helping raise children who are this age, it is a losing battle to expect them to listen and obey and be perfect little angels all the time, who have perfectly clean, matching outfits on.
I am an organized person and i labeled kids stuff especially when learning to read. I did it to make it easier for them to put things aways and make it simpler. It worked. Made life simpler we had more time to spend as a family. But it all went out window moment they became preteens lol 🤣. But their areas are their responsibility. We still make family time and conversations games a priority over their chores. If i got to spend hours with my teens hanging out i will do their chores for them later. Because that time is more important

If you want a teen to respect you, give them the respect and autonomy a teenager is old enough to handle. They don't need minute to minute schedules. They are old enough to do it on their own and if you give them that liberty, they will be MUCH more responsive.
