- We sit down with Pitt St Skatepark owner Jake Skinner to discuss how he converted an old Sainsbury’s supermarket into a skatepark. This colossal project was not only for the Portsmouth skate scene but for the entire community, offering art classes, inclusive to all-wheeled sports, hosting music events and much more.
Go Skateboarding Day is an opportunity for us all to celebrate skateboarding in its truest form, to go out, have fun and skate with friends; for us, this project embodies this ethos, and with thanks to Portsmouth City Council, Jake, Jenna and their team, Portsmouth has gained an incredible asset that can be enjoyed for years to come.
Skateboard GB are stoked to have financially contributed to the build of Pitt St. Skatepark in collaboration with Habito. The Pitt St crew also raised a whopping £31,970 through a Crowdfunder UK campaign, including a £10,000 contribution from Sport England. Skateboard GB works in partnership with Crowdfunder and can advise and support you with crowdfunding. If you are feeling inspired by Jake & Jenna's incredible achievement, please check out our website for links, info and advice.
