As it was born out of the millennial celebration add in the torches etc. it’s the most Walt thing since Walt if that makes sense.

This will always be my favorite nighttime show ever at WDW. It truly captures the spirit and purpose of the World Showcase. I hope the upcoming Luminous hearkens back to this vibe a bit more than the current Harmonious does. I enjoy Harmonious, but I miss the heart and soul of IllumiNations.
I am so beyond thankful that this has been captured in 4K. I haven't seen this since I was maybe 9 years old, and it impacted me in such an indescribable way. Unfortunately being that young, my memory of it is not so clear, and I am doubly devastated that it is now forever gone. I will never be able to experience it again as an adult. This presentation was profound in so many ways. It inspired wonder, creativity, a passion for the future, the unrelenting beauty of the earth in such a subtle, and intelligent way. The new presentation seems to be so much shallower, catering to an audience of increasingly shorter attention spans, and focusing more on franchises, and entertainment. What was so great about EPCOT was that around the millennium, while Disney is...Disney, EPCOT itself seemed slightly detached from that identity. The attractions there led to inspire children, to get them interested in science, other cultures, and subtly encourage them to think more. I dearly miss this, as it seems the sense of wonder, and curiosity is being replaced by the success of their franchises.
As terribly sad and heartbroken I am to hear that it’s ending let’s take a moment to look at the bright side. This show was at first never planned to last for 20 years. But rather...it was suppose to end along with Tapestry of Nation in 2001, after the millieneum celebration was over. But it was SO successful, they decided to keep it going.
One of the best shows Disney ever produced. I made it a point to watch it every night after my shift at Mission Space because it was such a great show. They need to bring this back. Even if only for 1 night a year.
I know that this video has been posted for a while but my best memory is watching this on my mother’s 20 th anniversary of her passing and my daughter playing with a child that she just met and it being Epcot neither child spoke the same language bet acted like they knew each other for years and enjoyed their time together. My mother would have been proud.
This was recorded in 2018. I was a Photopass photographer back then and anytime I was shooting at night by World Showcase, I’d always love to hear Illuminations. Plus, Promise always choked me up, and still does to this day.
It could me more dramatic, fireworks wise, but I love this show so much. I remember towards the end, you could get a fast pass for it! I actually hugged my husband during it and crying. Because I'm a super emotional gay man. That finale and We Go On still breaks me down in tears.

This show - the music especially - has stayed with me through the years more than any other Disney park production. Sucks that videos can't truly recreate the feeling of being there in person, you feel the booms of each firework and everything just sounds amazing.
