It was so perfect. It matched Epcot. The last park show with a real relevant message uninfected by Disney IP marketing being shoved in your face every 10 seconds. I miss the Disney World of my childhood. Thank you for taking the time to produce this.
I would probably say animal kingdom is the last park that has a real relevant message and isn’t really pushed with IP. But Epcot for sure was my favorite park. While there’s still elements I enjoy in the park today, illuminations for me was the nail in the coffin for that classic feeling
As of when this comment is posted, on September 30th, 2024 at 9:00 P.M. it has officially been 5 whole years since the last show of Illuminations: Reflections of Earth. It’s crazy that it’s been that long, as I have so many memories of all the nights at Epcot watching this show to end the day. This was truly a masterpiece of a show, and the best nighttime spectacular to ever exist. It uses amazing special effects to tell the story of the creation of earth while celebrating the end of the 20th century. It’s crazy to think that this show was only supposed to be around 4 years, yet lasted 20 because of how good it was. I’m glad I got to experience this as it was truly the best show, and may Illuminations live on in our hearts. Edit: just finished watching this video (again x30 probably lol) and it still gives me the chills to this day. Such a well put together show, and there was never not a night after this show someone would leave in tears. Change is hard, and the new shows might not be the best, but we have to be optimistic about the future. I mean, that’s basically what Epcot was all about, something we need more than ever these days. Although you are deeply missed by many Illuminations, may there be many more great spectaculars to come in the future.
Thanks for getting two minutes and 30 seconds of the props being moved to the middle of the lake during the day. People usually don’t see you that which makes it rare to see thanks again!
Thank you. I tried to get a little of everything. I have great memories of sitting down watching it with my daughter and frustrated of the bridge making my late to dinner :)
The end on an era. That's how things were, are and will always be. We always think out time was the best. I enjoyed Illuminations when I was young and was lucky enough to take my children when they were young too. I am now watching this from my hospital bed, remembering those moments and cherishing them all. How lucky I am to have seen this in real life. Now, new generations see the new show and probably think that their time is the best. Thank you for preservignt he memory for all and especially for the last burnout moment which I had never seen before. It was so special and bought closure to the expericnece. What a wonderful video
Omg this was perfect. The first time I saw it, I was coming from a restaurant in Italy and ended up looking up right at the finale from a light pole. It’s a core memory for me. God I miss illuminations
r.i.p Illuminations Reflections of Earth 1999-2019 i remember seen the final performance at the Epcot on January 2019 we got perfect view to see it, and it was good
I have memories of being absolutely AMAZED by this show, so I got curious and had to look this up. I live in Orlando and saw the past 2 Epcot shows. This one is definitely the best. Better music. The lights on the buildings going with the music. More fireworks. The Lazer designs. SO much better! Epcot needs to bring this back. Or at least bring these elements back. I saw the new show the other day. What they have now is nowhere near as good. Not even close.
I’ve seen hundreds of videos of Illuminations (and filmed quite a few myself), but this is by far the best one out there. It’s the definitive version. During the Celebration segment of the show (around 12:30 in this video), I wish Disney had kept those shrieking sidewinder fireworks. I think they got rid of them around 2014 for some reason.
I cried watching this. This show was my childhood, having seen it a dozen times with my parents. I'm sad I won't get the chance to see it with my son when we go this fall.
tbh i disagree... this show is beauuuuutiful and its very nostalgic, but as a latina i feel very much more represented in harmonious and i think many other people too. besides harmonious feels more like disney. but hey its just my opinion lol
I am a latina too but Epcot it wasnt ment to have Disney characters and reflections uses people around the World, i loved reflections si my fave, harmonious no like i am sorry
@@patriciarodriguez4643as a fellow Latino I very much disagree with you. I feel very much more represented with illuminations because it was a universal show. Instead of depending on individual cultural representation, it depended on representing humanity as a whole and showing all of us that we are one human race equal and together. I’ve never been more inspired by anything representing unity, harmony, and optimism more than this.
The only time I've been to Disney World was December of 2007. It was a trip my parents had planned for us to go in April of 2006 but, unfortunately, my mother passed from cancer that year. My mother loved fireworks and Disney and couldn't wait to take us there. This became my absolute favorite nighttime spectacular of all time, from the visuals, to the music. I didn't get to see it close sadly. I'm so glad I found your video. Thank you for posting it!
THE. BEST. EPCOT. FIREWORKS. SHOW. EVER. There will never be a show as great as this one! I miss it so much! Thank you for putting together a great video!
I will greatly miss this show it is so much better than the new one. Illuminations was the show I have seen since our first trip when sister was in a stroller & we have seen everyone we have gone since. Illuminations had original songs made just for the sow you could hear anywhere else.
WHen I went to disney in 2017 this was one of my top shows at the time, How the earth was made (chaos) to how its being told now. I will miss you illuminations and tbh nothing can top you
I was feeling nostalgic and have been trying to find the video of this show with the best angle. Since 1992 I estimate I was have visited Disney 12-15 times. Wish I could still see this show, will miss the globe.
I was so young when I first saw this show. Maybe 7 or 8. I’m 23 now and it brings the happiest memories back to me. I can’t help but cry. Especially when the globe first starts gliding out.
Not at all. I saw this show back when I was about 8 as well, then again at 16. I’m 30 now, and watching the video absolutely has me choked up. Fond memories flooding back over many long years can absolutely make you cry.
@@BAKER22-l4u Not at all. The way the music works in this show is incredibly complicated, and it's one of the elements that can make you cry. It's leaning into many different rhythms and not just a usual pop beat or orchestral rhythm either.
It was perfect! So much better than the stuff they have today. The parade that went with it in the daytime was also the best! They need to get back to this sort of entertainment. My kids grew up to this and will never forget it!
Thank you for such an amazing video! This show will be greatly missed and it's so nice to have a high quality recording to remember it by. (I still think this was the best night time show Disney World had to offer and we always made time to see it at least once on each trip)
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was SUPERB! Thank you for capturing the show in such great quality. I'm missing this show now a days, and this brought back so many great memories!
Thanks for posting this. Still brings tears to my eyes. Unfortunately, another bad decision made at WDW in the past few years. This show was Disney at its creative best.
We flew down to see the final two performances😢 The final night, it started raining about 30 minutes before showtime. Nobody left, and then, the rain stopped. So miss Illuminations💔
Illuminations always brings back wonderful memories. My daughter loved the show so much we had to see it multiple times on any trip to Disney. There are some other decent videos out there, but this is by far the best! Adding the preparations and shut down activities, the views from various points outside the park, and the closing song were all incredible touches.
I put this up on a huge projector screen right next to my hot tub every weekend. I wish I could show the set up here in the comments. This is the PERFECT video and makes me feel like I am there every time
Only just found this video! Certainly one of the best recordings of Illuminations there is, so congrats!! Seen it live multiple times, but this certainly does it justice! Thank you!!
This was MAGNIFICENT, EPIC, AWESOME, EXCELLENT, STUPENDOUS, COLOSSAL & a dozen other adjectives. (I didn’t even google these.) What a true labor of love & respect for beauty & inspiration that WAS Illuminations. I especially loved the footage of the images on the Earth. I was watching & did a double take. I rewound & froze & rewound & froze until I could get a screenshot of ELVIS!!!! I had no clue he was in Illuminations too. The destruction of the globe was heart wrenching. It was the final dead knell for a wonderful memory. I wish Disney had repurposed the globe as part of an historical exhibit. But that would have lead to rumors of Illuminations returning at some point. I’m not inspired by the replacement fireworks show. I prefer the soundtrack score for Illuminations over the modernized. The words “Thank you” isn’t enough to express the gratitude I have for you dedicating a week to record & preserve this treasure. The editing is a brilliant masterpiece.
It didnt look destroyed to me. It's too big to just truck in 1 piece. I think the pieces of the globe probably went into the archive while the barge part was scrapped.
DentedJourney, this photo is why I thought the globe was destroyed. www.orlandoweekly.com/Blogs/archives/2019/10/07/epcots-illuminations-globe-seen-demolished-in-photos-over-the-weekend?media=AMP+HTML
Thanks for this beautiful filming of Illuminations. Brings back soooooo many beautiful memories of better times. We all await the new Nightime Fireworks Celebration at Epcot. I hope it's soon.

VERY well said!!
Same. It was truly a better place. It's still enjoyable to go, but it used to be something truly special.
Perfectly said

I was shocked to stumble onto that.
I don't recall where I found it but it might. I think it was a tv news segment.

Thank you for the kind words.
