    You helped me more than Garmin Tech Support. I just bought a 890 today and was having problems entering RV and Vehicle info but you walked me thru it with ease. The 890 does more than I know and would love to learn how to use more of it features. More videos please !!!!

    Good tutorial, but I'd like to know what you think about how it works. We've done 3 trips in the past couple months totaling around 3000 miles and we are not liking this unit at all. Things like telling you to turn into a driveway that is just access into a farmers field, an inability to reroute itself (telling us 30 miles past where we opted to go an alternative way that we needed to turn around), or telling us we needed to turn off the truck route we were on, down a small residential street (it falsely claimed was the truck route, and across railroad tracks that were nearly impassable in a Class C.) We purchased Garmin for their reputation. Heck they make chart plotters for shipping and flying industries. But we find ourselves lacking trust in the information we get from this unit. The final straw was her trying to reroute us both legs of our trip saying that I-20 was closed. It was not either day. I wouldn't recommend this unit to anyone and I've lost faith in Garmin.

      First Natan thanks for watching. I have not experienced anything like that as of yet. I really like ours. I really like the voice command option and use it alot. Have you done any updates to the unit? I am wondering if that would improve your experience?

    Great job with this review. I bought this a couple of months ago and didn’t take the time to learn how to use it. I though it was like a regular gps unit, so many extra features you need to take the time to learn how to use. We bought it after we had some really close calls while traveling from Florida to Nova Scotia this summer. Larry

    Good vid. Love our 890. The app for your phone is great too. You can input your destination right on your phone without having to remove the unit. Also, it will show your messages from your phone right on the 890’s screen.

      So far no dislikes. The best thing for me is the voice command. It so easy to just say "ok Garmin" and then tell it where you want to go. I also like that it shows the mile markers as you're traveling.

    Another reviewer said theirs sent them across the George Washington Bridge in NY, and the inner loop of DC - places NOT designed for RV's. Have you had that issue? Is there a setting that would avoid those situations?

    • @Jonesin2Go
      @Jonesin2Go  2 роки тому

      I have not had that happen yet. There are settings that you can change from RV to Car mode. It could be that they may have had it in car mode by mistake.

    The problem I'm having and attempting to work out with Garmin and/or RV TripWizard, is to have the unit receive a pre-planned trip (.GPX file) and display that trip properly to navigate from stop-to-stop. If you do pre-planned stops, are you having THIS problem??

    • @Jonesin2Go
      @Jonesin2Go  3 роки тому

      I am not. However I enter all my trips and preplan trips directly into my Garmin.im not sure how you are telling me you are trying to enter your trips. I can say that since I have owned the Garmin that I don't use any of the apps I used to anymore. Just the Garmin

    Thank you, great info. I have a question or 2, maybe you can help me. We live in New York and we're heading out West for 2 and a 1/2 months in May for our biggest trip yet. We are only RVing for one year.. We have a class C and flat tow our Jeep. We have been using Google maps and RV Life and it works good for us so far. There has only been one time where we lost our signal and got a little jammed up but nothing too serious. Going out West is another story. So we're thinking we mabey should get a Garmin. I just looked on my dashboard and windshield and there really is no room for that huge 8" screen. Even 6" would be to big. Do you think I should just get one that's made for a car? Or do you know if there are any other options? Or is there a small one that I could put in the height of my RV? I like the idea of putting in the height so it don't direct me to any low bridges. I think one that's much smaller would maybe fit ok. I don't need a big screen but I like the idea of having a satellite map instead of something that could lose the signal. I'm just looking for some advice, any help would be appreciated. Also does the Garmin have an attachment where you could hook it up to something other than the window? I'm also gonna try to call the Garmin company hoping to get someone on the phone for ideas. Thanks.

    I am curious if when planning a trip if the unit has any features to help with fuel stops along the route? In other words can I predetermine where to stop for diesel based on mileage? Thanks for the informative video!

    • @Jonesin2Go
      @Jonesin2Go  2 роки тому +1

      You can search that category, however I think it will only search so far out from your current location. Unless you put in a destination. Then yes you can add way points along the route. I use an app for my diesel discount card and then plug that address into my trip. Works out pretty good that way for me. I hope that answered your question.

      Follow up ... yep, that’s it. In the settings menu, under display, there’s a setting for “sleep” after x mins “Off Powered Dock”.
