@Torah Muscle That's right. Even without an investor, they are given a chance to reach a wider audience and to grow their business themselves, even if it's in smaller steps. If their products or services are any good, they will benefit from the exposure, no matter what. Again, it's not the same with having an experienced investor on board, making calls and decisions and using contacts, but that also comes at a cost. It all comes down to how good are all these people in managing their businesses themselves.

I thought it was super crazy to hear Lori say she couldn’t help get it into supermarkets knowing how much power she reigns over so many stores now
Yea but this looks like a very old episode
Lori looks really young in this episode but I don't remember this one.
That was "then", and this is "now". This is probably from season 4 so both Lori, (who joined the show in season 3) and Daymond had not yet invested big in to food products.
yeah this was 2012-13 i think. Big Shake was on the show in 2011 and Daymond said it was a year after big shake had been on there

Damon's heart was really all in on this. And for that, he was out! This was more personal than business for him.
Sad to hear about the anchovies fiasco. It sounds like an awesome product.
Update September 2023:
They're out of business. Their blenders had massive malfunctions and they were sending out half ground chicken. Many consumers bought the product and got sick, and some of the dips even moved. They got sued, and Robert and Lori lost 100% of their investment.
This style of dip has been around for a while, every once in a while I’ll run into some sociopath that raves about how this is their specialty and you have to try it, and it always ends the same, we all take some out of respect and then the rest sits there untouched and inevitably leftovers in their fridge.
"a while" ... one could even say it's been around for about 9 years.
Lorie actually stole one of their product right after she hugged them, lol
The gulp that Mark did when hearing it was a chicken slurpy😅
To be truly honest, They got a deal partly because shes pregnant and they feel sorry for them.

Per the FDA, on June 26th, 2013 they were ordered to recall 12,560 lbs of their Buffalo Blue Cheese Chicken Dip due to mislabeling and undisclosed allergens, in this case anchovies. The last activity the brand seems to have had is in 2014, so likely they weren’t able to financially recover from it, especially if they were dropped by any retailers.
When the Sharks try to be nice, this is what happens.
They named the baby before it was born. Bad luck, bad mojo.
What a waste of an investment
Knowing what we know now about the anchovies, Daymond made right call but it was EXTREMELY close.
I’m not a business person, so forgive me- couldn’t they’d have just corrected the mistake and removed the anchovies OR listed them in the ingredients??🤷🏻♀️ just asking..
I’m not a business person either but my guess is the cost of the recall, along with the stock that had to go to waste, was too much for the company to survive financially. And since it’s one line of product, they can’t rely on other products to generate revenue to keep the business afloat while they alter the recipe.
