Love that you are back on the road! Definitely makes the podcasts more interesting when you can add some international flair. Looking forward to following you through Mexico! 😍
We are also glad to be bringing more destination content and are excited about Saturday's video. Now that we are back on track, we should have destination videos almost every Saturday. Tuesdays will almost always be a podcast. Thank you for watching and sticking with us, Robert. 😊
Great advice! Bottled water, especially where you are in Mexico, is crucial! One of the routines we do (also a great exercise) is buy 220 ounce bottled water and carry them to our apartment. It’s like a weight routine. I also love going to the gyms. Many places have affordable daily, weekly and monthly rates. Not only does it help me keep in shape, but it also integrates me into the local environment. I could write an article on the different gym cultures I witnessed in Mexico, Bulgaria, Chile etc. it is really fascinating. Great video.
Just wanted to say thank you for the videos you both created. They've been very helpful with my travels and plans to become an expat next yr. Take care and safe travels.
Great tips. When we stayed in Seville for 2 months, we joined a gym. I was nervous to go at first, but after a week, I felt like just another member. It was so nice to get in a workout during the week. We will try to include this in all our future long stays. It makes the traveling more enjoyable!
Great advice! You inspired us to do a UA-cam workout in our hotel room right after watching your video. If you want some really good healthy food, try Aguacate Veggie Bar. We had it almost everyday while in San Cristobal for a month. They were just opening the Oaxaca restaurant when left and weren’t able to try it there but I’m sure it is just as good!
Good subject! Thank you. 🙏 My husband Jim and I started traveling in an RV full time 5 yrs ago. I think we’ve both put on 20 pounds! We are flying to Bangkok this thanksgiving to backpack Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia for 3 months. We are currently working on shedding those pounds! I don’t want to put it back on when we get there! Happy days to ya both. I appreciate your content so much! Angela
That sounds like an amazing trip!! The great thing about SE Asia is the food is healthy and you get an appropriate portion size! That plus backpacking you should return a lean mean fighting machine!! 😁
Very helpful. I am trying to working on all of these areas at present. Would love to know some of your go to recipes, as we are still struggling with this.
Great tips... Especially the exercise bands and yucky green powder lol. Tough to get enough greens when one is worried about them being washed in the local water at a restaurant. As for bringing the exercise bands with me (I am a one bag 35L carry-on traveler, with a personal item for under the seat. I was able to totally hack the system and bring so much more with me. I bought a reversible stuffable camping pillow (plush soft material on one side, synthetic on the other) it can be used to either stuff for a pillow or to put laundry in. I however use it to transport my exercise bands (full quality set). Now the best hack I was able to do was, I also have a rustic canvas messenger bag that use for my camera gear and snacks while walking around. (I love the rustic because it does not scream rich). I am able to stuff my bands in the messenger bag and cram the messenger bag into the reversible pillow. This pillow now has just enough padding that while it is stiff it is still comfortable enough for me to put down the airplane tray, put the pillow length wise up and down, bend forward and "hug" it while my forehead is supported on top of it as I lean forward. (my preferred way to nap on a plane). Since pillows don't count towards carry-on items for most airlines I get to take more on and put it to good use. Sorry for the long post, but I do love this hack. Enjoy Mexico.
Quick question. We booked 5 nights in Rome and a cruise back for November. When I look at the state department website it says we need 10,000 euros to enter/exit. Do they check this? What counts? If I have 1,000 in checking but 100,000 in an IRA is that good enough? Is a credit card with 20k available balance good enough? Will I need to show balances to someone? If so, is showing in the app on my phone good enough?
Great video. We took an anti-parasitic every 6 months as a preventative in MX. I recommend Loxcell. You can find it in most MX Walmarts or Farmacias. You can also take it if you feel a little friend rummaging around your tummy.
Thanks as always. I've been lucky. Every time we travel and I feel like a few pounds are "mingling " around my tummy, I just order some water from the tap. My favorite exercise bands are Billy Idol, Springsteen, & Olivia Newton John. 6:16 I use Pandora so takes up no space in my luggage. 🤔😉
We're the same with water because bathrooms are difficult to find when we travel but we usually carry or find a banana for a snack and the potassium. ❤️
Have you found a way of regulating your alcohol intake? When we were working, we used to drink alcohol mainly on the weekends. But since we recently retired, every day is a weekend, so we have not yet found a routine for this aspect of our lives.
We are able to keep our consumption in check. If we have a few beers or wine one day, we will choose not to drink the next day or two, it is a rear if ever that we over consume. It is something to be aware of.
Where was it hardest to eat healthier and lighter? I recall you guys loving delicious Eastern European foods and beers but also saying it was heavy and tempting.
Really anyplace we've been, there have been lighter options - but yes, the Balkan countries love the heavier foods that are so yummy. The only time we struggle the most to stay on track is when we stay in hotels and have to eat out more, but with a kitchen we can always keep it lighter. Cheers!
Hey I walked the Camino and didn’t lose a pound 😂 Carrie can you share which green you use? I get meat and carbs but greens are a little harder when traveling
It's so hard to lose while traveling, even when walking a ton. And finding greens while traveling is so challenging in certain countries. These are the supergreens I travel with and really like: amzn.to/3XOpPqM.
Great tips. When I travel, no matter for how long, I strive to stay on my home routine, for food, exercise, etc. My breakfast is always yogurt, fruit, low-fat granola, no matter where I am. Agree that greens are vital. Sometimes it is hard to find a salad. Sleep is always the biggest challenge. The white noise app on the phone is so helpful.
🌏🙂I found your channel recently and love your travel Videos and I myself am still figuring myself out how to do that later. One question: When you travel, do you still need to pay your rent for your Apartment or house in the USA? Or if you paid off already everything in the US, does it hurt, when you need to pay rent overseas while your house/apt in the US still standing there (without rent)?... Just curious. 😊
We are so happy that you found our channel!! We actually sold everything to travel so we have no rent back home. When we do return to visit, we either house sit, or we stay with family. Thank you for watching!! 😊
@BrianandCarrie hey brian, was curious this is probably a silly question but do they have dark beer like italy, greece, now we're talking about Albania Montenegro? I don't know if you'll take a trip to Scotland but one of the dark beers I thoroughly enjoyed there was McEwen Scotch 80 it was delicious better than Guinness I think.

@@BrianandCarrie I changed my sunscreen comment, cuz it sounded attacking, I hope the version I finalized sounds less opinionated & more kind.
Carrie, would you be willing to demonstrate your workout routine?
We each use UA-camr Growingannanas. She has easy to difficult at home workouts.

We are considering doing the same thing on our next long stay. It is surprising how many gyms there are when you start looking for them.

Us too!! Thank you for watching!! 😊
Very helpful. I am trying to working on all of these areas at present. Would love to know some of your go to recipes, as we are still struggling with this.
That can sometimes be a challenge. We eat a lot of chicken and veggies when we cook at home.
Very helpful. We've been full-time for just over a year and struggle with the go-go-go more than anything. We're going to focus on this for year 2.
We remind ourselves that this is a marathon, not a sprint.

Great ideas, James! Thank you for the tips! 😁
Great tip about the water bottle with a filter! I’m looking into buying something like this. How often do you need to change the filter?
We change the filters 2 months. Ours also has the UV light.

I think if you bring in 10,000 Euros you need to declare it? You don't need proof of what's in your bank account.

Thank you for the tip!!!
Hey guys, what shots did you get in Asia to prevent food borne illnesses? Great video as always.
We got the Typhoid and Hep A vaccination, each helping with foodborne illness.
