Cool breakdown, glad to see you enjoyed it. And for the record, you are right, the instruments played in the video are recreations of the bands actual gear (albeit simplified for animation). The only exception being Elliot's' whose keyboard was swapped out with a fiddle for a more piratey look when animated.

Dude the thing that hit me first of this videos is the animation just holy shit its so smooth
@4:18 - My favorite Alestorm song as far a Hooks go is also "Fucked With An Anchor". That chorus is so damn catchy, it can literally get you in trouble in some situations as I'm always finding myself singing the chorus all day long after listening to the song.
Fun tidbit: If you enjoy the profanity of Fucked With An Anchor, apparently the track Cannonball from the upcoming album makes FWAA seem tame a family friendly. Might have an extra song to get in trouble with

Absolutely my favorite pirate metal band -- of course I can't say I've heard too many pirate metal bands, but I'm sure these guys would still be the best.

Well, the audio version was released to Spotify and all that like an hour after I filmed the reaction, so at least I was able to listen to it on repeat when I was done editing the video. Haha

I have listened to this song about a thousand times and seen the video probably about the same amount. I have heard this song so many times in the past week I know the lyrics.

This song was definitely a quick favorite for me. I love Alestorm. They are excellent musicians, who dont take themselves super serious. It's a great combination.

I used to listen to Alestorm back when I was in school about 12 years ago and I love the fact that I watched this and loved it just as much as I loved their music back then

Wish I could give some music back, but you seem to have most of it covered! Only really noticeable absence of artists that I love in the songs you've already covered are Ricky Warwick (Almighty/Black Star Riders) and Andre Matos (Angra, Shaman, Symphonia, Avantasia), but I'm not sure that they're appropriate.

Oh we lost our minds when they played in Pittsburgh just a few days ago when they played this song. Was a hell of a set at Stage AE. So sad they didn't play longer
I saw Alestorm in 2019 and I would say it was the most fun gig I've ever been to. I agree that this song would go off in a live setting.

I think Tank has unconsciously set a challenge for animated music videos- being sufficiently detailed that he's still able to accurately break down their gear

With the question of Captain Yarrface's credits, it's to do with like a tag line (or whatever you want to call it) that Rumahoy has. It reads "welcome to the sea" I believe, so with a bit of creativity it became courtesy of the sea (welcome to it)

I really like the way they went with curse of the crystal coconut and the silly, catchy songs and was almost dissapointed with magalans expedition, but P.A.R.T.Y is already one of my favorites :D
Have you seen Curse of The Crystal Coconut? It is both funny and catchy and a tribute to the Donkey Kong animated series most of us saw as kids.
Been listening to this song every day since it dropped... whenever I feel like I need a 2nd wind (quite frequent working 2 jobs... more like on my 12th wind😅), this song does it! Definitely gets my vote for song of the year!
That captain yarrface credit at the end is a reference to his lines in Tortuga, there's quite a few easter eggs hidden in the animation in various places

I found an Alestorm CD in a random Vintage Stock in Kansas which is really neat because it's not often you get European pirate metal across the big soup to the middle of the country here, that's quite a Treasure Chest Party Quest
I have heard this song several times now and watched the video most of the time. I love it, such a fun song.
I guess I'm "old Alestorm" where I got in during Black Sails at Midnight so I saw the transition into harsh-screaming vocals and the more fun vibe having been creeping in more and more.
I love it all, Chris reacted to a comment I made about the video and he made a comment how half the fans hate the other half of their songs and I jokingly said that "humor is a sub-genre" lol which isn't far off from your own points you have made that there's this resentment of humor or fun in metal
I couldn't recommend you enough to check out the Australian band Claim The Throne with 'Set Sail on Ale' or 'Zephyrus'. They even toured with Alestorm in Australia some years ago ;)

Great reaction Tank, i love when bands just look like they are having a blast much like feuerschwanz or Nanowar...but I'll admit not every Alestorm song works for me (occasionally a hair too much toilet humor for my personal tastes) but when they nail it, like with this one, omg do they nail it... I'll be humming that hook all day long and happily

I only really heard of Alestorm when they released Drink through a random link, I've been hooked ever since. I do think this a bit more of the melding of their early and newer stuff, definitely has the sort of bouncy feel from Mexico but also nods back to the likes of Keelhauled. I love it, in case you hadn't already guessed :)

Funny Alestorm story. Back in 2009 at the Wacken Rocks Seaside festival I was in one of the opening bands (Tribe - released one album - pray for calm… need the chaos- toured with Hammerfall and Dream Evil as well as a few festival slots around Europe, then imploded and that was that 🤦♂️😂). Anyway as we were setting up I was approached by someone to play drums for them at that festival. The drummer had got so pissed at the airport in the UK that he wasn’t allowed on the flight! I wasn’t a fan of the whole pirate thing so had paid no attention to the band. Knew the name but not a single song etc etc. so obviously I declined the offer politely. I was then told that it was ok as he’d done this before 🤣🤣🤣🤣 and they had full backing tracks on their laptop so all was good. They just would’ve preferred a live drummer!!! Rock and roll 🤘🤘🤘(I still haven’t heard a single song by them but gonna stick around till the end of the bud ✊😉
I know Crowbar are Non Heavier so maybe Alestorm are Non More Pirate? 🤷🏼♂️🤘
Paddy and The Rats did a song Party Like A Pirate that was released very closely to the time this was, I believe, that was equally as good in my opinion.

Lyrically this is such a simple song but damn if it's not catchy as all hell. Been listening the heck out of this song and it hasn't gotten old yet. Plus the animated video is awesome as well and a ton of fun to watch.
The lead guitar player of Alestorm used to be in Leander Kills a few years ago.
I saw them at Copenhell this year in Denmark and they killed it with this song. the crowd drank it up like the seventh rum of a seventh rum!! * Side note. we set a crowd surfing record for the festival at almost 2000 for their set!!

Definetely "Sober" is a parody to Alestorm (eye-patched duck present in other Alestorm clips as well - Shit Boat for example).

Yo Tank, in the second verse, Chris mentions "Captain Yarrface" who is actually the vocalist of another awesome fun pirate metal band called Rumahoy. I highly recommend their really fun track "Forest Party" and it has a music video.

Also, apparently Captain Yarrface is part Australian (could be wrong, though). The line that references him drinking beer from a shoe, is something that happens in Australia; it's called a "shoey", where you fill a shoe with some kind of alcohol, usually beer, and drink it.
I've read somewhere that Rumahoy were originally from Scotland and they've known Alestorm for ages. The shoey I think is a reference to Australian pirate metal band Lagerstein
