Elisa- I commend you for traveling alone and the creative use of your Rav for a camper. I am looking to convert my Ford Escape in as minimalist as possible. I, too, have traveled solo when I had to. I find it exhilarating to count on myself. I have to admit, there have been a couple times when I questioned my safety. So, I admire you for having courage to explore alone. By the way, do you happen to be an introvert such as myself? Hope that wasn't too personal. Stay safe and thanks for your videos. I have more ideas now how to go SUV camping. Hoping I can visit my friend in Colorado in my camper SUV someday.

The clam looks a lot easier to set up than my "pop up" canopy. Its that time of year in florida that I dont do much but hibernate in the ac, it feels like 108f today in Jacksonville.! ug spray and sun screen are pretty much a must have along with a water bottle. I always have a walking aid, either a trexing pole or my staff. a package of firecrackers and a lighter are good to have at hand for wild animals.. If you get to gainesville (paynes prairie is a good camp spot) the university has a great natural history museum one section explains all the different terrains in florida. The art museum is also worth a tour

I spend a bit of time wondering about your van build and how you and bunny are doing being trapped at home. How is the training for the marathon going and especially how are your plans coming together? Another Utuber friend spoke of bears in their video recently and it brought up my thoughts from back home in Montana. A large percentage of attacks happen around berry bushes. Bears and people both like and enjoy feasting on berrys so it's best to investigate the whole area before indulging. I do not fish but in Alaska it was true pleasure to watch the bears during the Salmon runs. I treat all Monkeys as if they are in Thailand where they are sacred and to be left alone.
It was good for me to see you getting outdoors and enjoying this wonderful world. I am hoping your van build goes well and the next adventures take you further away from civilization. Stay Beautiful both in life and in heart.

I used a small air horn to keep the monkeys from attacking me once when I walked those trails. It literally stopped them mid attack. It would probably work well for bears too.

there are several types of monkeys in Florida that date back ti the original Tarzan movies, some escaped but many were just released after filming and began breeding and some escaped from zoos during hurricanes

The professionals are saying NOT to and to fight as hard as you still can if attacked! Nothing to worry with the bears. But if you go to real mountains, is a different story. Florida bears are small and shy.

I really never associated bears and Florida before this video. You got me googling and I read that even if you got a shot off with a 9 mm, it would just make the bear mad as he mauled you to death. Yeah, I think I'll stick to watching you camp. You might want to consider camping with a much slower friend. 😂😂😂

If you were to see a bear 🐻 it would only want a bear hug, lol 😊
After seeing many YT videos , the bear behavior is that black bear are opportunistic and likely to be predatory of people, brown bears play dead and with polar bear always fight for they eat anything including humans as food. Blacks bears that will not go away are certainly seeing you as food supply. Please be safe either way with bear spray or something similar.

NEVER EVER play dead with black bears.
Rule of thumb, “if it’s black fight back. If it’s brown get on the ground. And, if it’s white….say goodnight.
Black bears will eat you. So will all bears, but you have a chance fighting off the back bear. The others? No.

I don't always have internet but on this video I was using my phone's hotspot. When I need to edit and upload a video I usually go to some cafe nearby.
Be careful hiking in Florida. A woman was walking her dog by the water was dragged by a Alligator. Her dog could not do anything about it to save her. Also be careful of the pythons they are out there. Happy hiking.

Tie a strap or rope to your stuff so that its easier to pull out.
And I will give you another piece of advice especially in the silver springs Ocala national Forest areas of that nature up here you should really wear a pair of shoes and not flip flops or sandals if you do have to get away from a bear or wild hog is going to be hard for you to do it with a pair of sandals

do you have to pay every time you camp?
Not always. It depends on whether I stay at an established campground or national forest. Usually campgrounds cost between $10-$60 a night so it can get expensive.
