  • Northern Nevada is home to some of the most toxic fish in the world, swimming in a 360-square-mile watershed dubbed a "superfund" site by the federal government in the 1990s. The problem is high levels of mercury; a legacy left over from the mining boom that spurred Nevada's statehood in the 1860s. Today, thousands of Nevadans, including residents on tribal land, could be at risk. In this special investigation, we look into how the mercury got there, who could be impacted, and how families can keep themselves safe.
