A lot of the country is facing water shortages, can you talk more about water-wise plants and landscape ideas of native plants? Can you do a video where you show beautiful ideas of no-grass front yards?
Good morning, Laura and Aaron, from Windermere, Florida zone 9b USA 🇺🇸 🌞 We are sunny 🌞 and 80's all week. Great tourist ⛱️days, for sure 👌 Happy Gardening Everyone 👩🌾👍
I recently discovered Baden Baden Germany. This is a resort town centered around 100 year old gardens, and natural Hot Springs. There is a river walkway that has bridges that cross over an old Roman canal into largest estates gardens which have been in place for over 100 years and it is amazing to tour these gardens and it is free. Every garden along the way is different and it is just a half mile walk from the center of town which includes tons of amazing restaurants and cafés and bakeries and lots of boutique shopping. And the hot springs are amazing. They are housed within a amazing therapeutic pool with Jets of various intensities.
You talk about being important to meet and see your listeners. Well I am smack dab in the midwest, will never meet you guys but ------ when I first came upon your channel I said to myself 'Nope, don't you get yourself stuck on a channel and one person's opinion'. And yet now here I sit, waiting for your vids to appear, I have my Felco's , my 24 cell Gardener Supply seed starting kits, my love of Proven Winners, Bonide, Espoma, the list goes on. Without finding your channel I would not have my little Facebook page 'Shades of Green'. So yes, your life has affected others, and I put myself in that category. I am 73 years young because I garden and you give me that incentive to keep doing it, my fingers are dirty, my knees ache, my garden blooms, my heart is grateful for you guys. Thank you.....
I’m with you Laura. Garden Shows are fine but I find it far more fun to visit a garden center and buy plants for my garden. One day soon ( I hope ) I’ll get to Andrew’s Seed Company! We live in Texas and are planning on a road trip. Andrew’s ranks up high with locations like Yellowstone! 😆
I always think I'm going to be more inspired by garden shows, but in the end the displays look very unreal to me because of the dark overhead lighting and spotlights. I think it detracts from the beauty of the flowers and other plants. I love all the workshops and merch though!
Hi Laura and Aaron, I just wanted to say thank you, thank you for covering the Seattle Garden Show this year. I live in Seattle, but my eyesight is failing and the last time I visited this show, the light was so low I couldn't see anything. It was very disappointing. So much that I didn't go this year. It was wonderful to be able to SEE the displays. For me this was better than actually going to the show. I hope you get to do this again.
Smiles: I’m from Wisconsin, where New Berlin is Noo Ber’-lin (accent on the ‘Ber’), and Tripoli is Triple-I. And everything else is a tongue-twister like ‘Shishebogama’’, ‘Kawaguesaga’, ‘Wauwatosa’ (loads of fun when talking to tourists!) . I heart local flavor!
Happy to say the Mesto Sprayer is available for sale….just received mine on Friday! I purchased it from Amazon. Thanks Laura and Aaron….always enjoy your videos, information and your positivity!!
I have an almost 3 year old that also gets extremely “fractious” when she doesn’t take at least a 2 hour nap. We offer her a nap and she stays in her room for 3 hours. If she naps is up to her. She also had the option for quiet time. She has a “safe” shelf of books and quiet toys she can play with during that time. She is also in a queen sized floor bed already so she has freedom to get in and out of bed, but she cannot come out of her room.
Please do a video on viewer submitted inspiration photos for small/urban gardens! It can be so challenging to create privacy and beauty in a small space. I would love to see how others do it. Thank you for all you do ❤
Note to Laura: Fungus gnats can be irraticated with Neem cake, and I mean completely. No mosquito bits or anything else works. I ordered Neem cake (naked neem) online. Put 1 gallon water in jug, add 3 1/2 heaping tsp to jug. Shake. Let sit for 2 hrs. Can use then. Can't use leftover mix, because smells. I propagated 85 plants this winter with this mix. NOT one gnat at all, when I used it as a water medium for propagation. Last year I had them hopping out of the containers and walking across the table, going up my nose, and just completely out of control. Please try this.
Nice! I just put a quarter of a Mosquito Dunk into my watering can and just refill with water to make a tea. That will last me all winter and spring, usually! Same thing, no gnats! Neem does work a charm, but I can only use it outside because the smell makes me nauseous.
Speaking of traveling with kids, come to Eugene! I've driven from here (Eugene) to Andrew's Seed and it wasn't a bad drive. Hendricks Park in Eugene is a great place to visit with the kids. There's also an ice cream place that's famous called Prince Pucklers that has a yummy sweet shop nearby called Sweet Life and a pizza place right next to that called Hey Neighbor! My favourite part of my city is the garden center called Down to Earth. It's beautiful and actually the company that creates a pretty well known fertilizer. There's also the garden centers called Grey's Gardens, Little Red Nursery, that are amazing. We're also just an hour away from the coast!
💯. Fellow Eugenian here. Great place to visit. Our little home and garden show is on March 10, maybe one of these days we can get Laura to give a talk there❤
It makes me so angry that some people have to continually be nasty to you guys, I love watching your videos because it brings something to my life I can't do for myself and I'm sure I'm not the only one ,keeping doing what you're doing and please don't pay any attention to those who just like to pick on others
Sandra Smith, thank you for your kind comment. I don't think I could have been as kind. Between the grammar police and Karen's . They just try so hard to suck all the joy out of life. 😢🤔😉
Philadelphia Flower show is back to the Convention Center and opens March 3. Hope to see you there next year! Please ignore the complainers. Over a million of us subscribers love the videos just the way they are. Your videos bring me much joy!
Another good video. Thank you. And always warms my heart when you say more time with the kids. I've been watching from the start and the kids are such a wonderful addition 😍 💕 ❤️ ☺️
Richmond IN is a smaller town but we have a wonderful Arboretum. It is named after Mr. Hayes. I took my children there many times when they were younger. They have many things for young children to help them learn about nature. ♥️ Love your channel.
When Aaron mentioned taking the kids to the coast I definitely had to chime in... One of our favorite places is Gold Beach (Oregon Coast) taking a ride up the Rouge River on the Jet boats, stopping in Agnus for lunch, last time we went we took our 5 grandkids and they had a blast.. There is also a botanical garden you can tour plus, a bit up the road is a prehistoric garden, complete with dinosaurs that is the most fun, even for us old folks😉If you live in Northern California or Oregon I highly recommend checking it out, it's a great extended weekend getaway💕
Hey Aaron, Regarding the video about ten perennials you can start from seed, tell the naysayers that one of your viewers had to garden on the cheap for years, starting most of my perennials from seed, using jiffy pellets in black plastic frozen food trays on my kitchen windowsill. Seeds will grow even without bottom heat and grow lights. If there's a will, there's a way.
Would love for you to come east and come to the Philadelphia flower show. Always the beginning of March. It's a wonderful show. I live in Maryland now but continue to go back to Philadelphia for the flower show. I watch you everyday and you brighten my day.
Laura, a good tip for keeping fungus nats at bay is a carnivorous Sundew plant. I keep 2 inch pots here and there around my seed trays and it works, totally natural. I also wanted to add, if you and your family go to the coast, stop in Lebanon and take a ride on the Santiam Excursion train! They have a steam engine they take out every now and then and it is so fun. Then on the way to the coast, stop by Garland Nursery on Hwy 20 between Albany and Corvallis. It is my favorite and has such a good feeling while walking around. Love your channels!
What do you do with them when you're not growing seedlings? And what if you get lucky and you don't have fungus gnats? I started seeds three years running without any issue and only got gnats last year.
@@Ibis333 I have them out in my pond as soon as the temps reach 40f. I have a good little collection of carnivores, who don't actually need to eat bugs, but if they are out in the open, they will attract them. I keep a sundew by my window sill for fruit flies in summer. Works like a charm!

Freezing here in England too. The Chelsea Garden Show should be on everyone's bucket list. It really is spectacular. You should get someone to do a live stream there for you. It really is the best of the Garden shows!
We woke up yesterday on the Eastcoast to 9*F. The reached 21*F in the afternoon and began to snow. The snowflakes were huge, and it was so pretty. We got about 4 inches of snow. Today it's 19*F. Just 10*F makes a difference.
Laura and Arron gardening expresses who you are an extension to show us and the world that flowers and etc there's another side of beauty and happiness to enjoy That's me too to give pleasure to my neighbors as well
I love the way you both prioritise time with your children. Those memories will be your greatest treasure. Even now with grown up children my greatest joy is spending time with them.
Lol, Aaron…”Oregon is a huge state.” Lol I’m from Texas…we have 8 grow zones in our state. 6b, 7a, 7b, 8a, 8b, 9a, 9b, 10a…we are very spread out and run the gambit of “what is available.” I always encourage family and friends who travel (in state or out) to go into garden centers and explore. They bring back varieties that are gorgeous but just cannot take the heat, humidity (etc) in our area. Such a conundrum when buying anything. I laughed out loud when he said that about Oregon. Thanks, love, love, LOVE your channel! Saw a person wearing a T-shirt with Garden Answer on it and chatted with her for a bit. Keep up the work, hard as it is but those of us who use your information, use it as hard evidence that we all can garden and love our spaces and dream big! ❤️❤️❤️
I can’t thank you enough for your videos, and knowledge of plants. I have Learned so much and have added so many new plants to my garden. Thank you ! Can’t get enough!
It's always a cozy start with my Sunday coffee. I'm looking forward to a great week here in N.C.. praying for no freeze as a lot of our fruit trees are budding out. Love the picture of your snow falling. Hugs from N.C ..❤️
Morning from WY. We have a town spelled Dubois. From my years of French I called it Du-bwa, but its pronounced Du-boys. I start planting in late May and pray for no snow. Last 2 years when I planted about May 20th it snowed the next day. This year I'm not planting until the last 2 days.
I’m from OH - it’s definitely a long “i” in East Palestine. We also have Berlin, Ohio, in Amish country. The emphasis is on the first syllable, not the second like the one in Germany. I got in trouble with a waitress the first time we went to Amish country because I pronounced it like the city in Germany.😬
Love the recap video. Went to the garden show just to see you both. Loved Aarons statement about living in Oregon! We live in Washington and no one lives anywhere else but King County or Tacoma. Unless they want to come see our tulips!
So many examples of place pronunciations! We could amass a long list, I'm sure. CON CORD, NC vs CON-kurd, CA is another example. Fun ruminations with you guys!!
Always the best part of my Sunday, worship at the workbench of Laura and Aaron,. It's just so nice to watch two people who genuinely enjoy each other and their chosen path. Oh, your gardening okay, too 😉😁
I had a naked backyard for about 15 or 16 years because other experts made gardening too complicated and fussy. I just did not want to deal with it. Until I found your channel via the winter bird feeder made from a bundt pan video. YOU changed my perspective on playing outside and make it easy to understand. My backyard has been transformed and it gets me out of the house and moving. You and Aaron are making a difference and I learn something every morning. Thank you.
I had an idea for a viewer submission videos. I think it would be awesome to have a video of everyones favorite plants/tress (Much like you all do the videos of favorite shrubs, perennials, annuals). I know I would enjoy expanding of my list of plants to keep an eye out for.
Water sprouts from fruit trees...I used to cut them out of my pear tree and let them sit on the covered patio to dry out. Then I would tie them with jute twine and use them as tall, natural, corner decor. I got so many questions and compliments regarding them.
Lovely hearing all your favourites and as you mentioned Chelsea flower show, personally my favourite is Hampton Court, the surroundings there are beautiful with room to breath, away from the crowds. Sorry to hear you don’t travel well, stick with what you feel works for you. Enjoy your vlogs so much even though I live in Wales 🏴 UK 🇬🇧, although not a novice my knowledge has increased, especially with plants I don’t usually use. So thank you. 🙏I have my favourites too magnolias, azaleas, acers, all bulbs and trying to increase these at the moment, I love spring. But I’m definitely going to try some of your flower suggestions, my garden is small, uk small 🤣🤣 wish me luck 😂
Baikal Scullcap seeds are available from Swallowtail Nursery. I bought them for this season based on your glowing “discovery” of this plant last season. PS, can we all band together and ask Swallowtail to improve their packet info? They don’t even have zones on their seed packets! Love you guys!
It was interesting to me to hear you experience Migraine attacks during travel. I have had Chronic Intractable Daily Migraine Disease for 7 years every day and hard to treat. About 5 years ago when I was very sick I started watching your videos. On days when I struggled to get out of bed I would turn on one of your videos and it gave me the strength to pull myself out of bed and get outside. Gardening is now my passion and saving grace. I even started a small flower seed Etsy shop last year! I am still sick every day, but I always have something to look forward too regarding gardening. I’m even working towards selling Tulip and Ranunculus blooms in the spring. Thank you! Much Love! 🌱🌸💗
Wow, I can’t even. I so much admire you for keeping on when you are always in pain! Do you live in the US? I wish you could get some type of nerve block or surgery to alleviate your suffering.
@@cynthiafisher9907 Thank you ☺️ That is very kind of you! I do receive Botox treatments (32 injections in my head and face every 12 weeks). It does help to calm the pain. However, Migraine is a neurological brain condition, therefore besides pain I experience multiple other symptoms. It impacts most my senses as well as digestive issues, cognitive issues, severe fatigue, etc. However, I push through and enjoy life the best I can 💜
Hi guys I love your videos all of them you are my morning routine every single day that you have a video posted. Wanted to let you know that Boston mass has a flower show every season and a home and garden show also at the expo. It's nice to see you are all doing well.
I live 20 miles outside of Philly and the Flower Show is always spectacular. There are many wonderful gardens in the area too - Chanticleer, Winterthur and the biggie - Longwood Gardens are my favs. Magical.
Yes! I grew up in Hillsboro just outside of Portland and we've been all over Oregon... Once you get past mount hood, going away from the coast, Oregon becomes all desert. Not the kind you see in places like Arizona, but the vegetation and trees and temp change drastically. The closer you go towards the coast it's all lush green forests and mountains and rivers. All of Oregon is very beautiful and it's nice to have a variety of environments to visit!
We went to Chelsea Flower Show 2022-on Member Day which was less crowded. I don’t feel a need to go again or take someone else to experience. It was crowded & challenging to get any great photos without zillions of people. However, give me a chance to tour the classic gardens again & again….I wept over & over seeing all the beauty. Dreaming of THOSE memories not Chelsea.
19:30 great comment about the Debbie Downer…. When you want to do something bad enough, size of your home and lack of greenhouse will not stop you. Debbie needs to see it as a challenge and become creative in making it happen. I grow from seeds the plants I want in a home that is 814 sq feet and no greenhouse. It can be done
I want one of those planters from Gardener’s Supply. Just the two of us and I recently started container planting my tomato plant last year. This will be so helpful not having to water and stake myself. Can’t wait to try it.
See, I know you’re my soul sister. If you’d just as soon “take the kids to the coast” as to go to the Chelsea flower show. I have suspected as much for quite a while. My absolute favorite place on earth is the Oregon coast!!!
Love your recap videos! I am so impressed with how you always find the pertinent video clips and photos to go with the subject you are talking about. How do you organize and store them so efficiently? Maybe we should also include Ken in one of the recap videos to tell us how you all deal with that? Not exactly garden related but very important for your UA-cam channel.
Eeekkkk Laura read and answered my question about water sprout on my hydrangea! 🎉🎉🎉Phew! Glad to hear I did the right thing by clipping it out! Thank you Laura!

A lot of the country is facing water shortages, can you talk more about water-wise plants and landscape ideas of native plants? Can you do a video where you show beautiful ideas of no-grass front yards?
I would love to see more Xeriscaping also
It was over way too soon this morning! I too love your conversations and banter. Such a great way to start my morning. So enjoy you both.
Morning Everyone 🥰
Good morning, Laura and Aaron, from Windermere, Florida zone 9b USA 🇺🇸 🌞
We are sunny 🌞 and 80's all week. Great tourist ⛱️days, for sure 👌
Happy Gardening Everyone 👩🌾👍
Laura, it is always so nice to see Aaron on camera involved in the projects and trips. He has good insight and a good sense of humor😊
I would love to see other peoples conifer gardens. Planning on doing several small spaces this year I would like ideas. 🌲🌳🌲
That self-watering container has such clever design! 👌 😀
We have a town near me called New Tripoli, pronounced New Tri-POLE-ee!
Happy to say the Mesto Sprayer is available for sale….just received mine on Friday! I purchased it from Amazon.
Thanks Laura and Aaron….always enjoy your videos, information and your positivity!!
I got one from Amazon, too! Took over a month to get but worth it. 😊
How much was it? I purchased from mesto directly and it was $18 but shipping bumped it up to $30
U can buy a different brand of mister from Walmart for $7.98. I got one and it works just like the expensive Mesto one, but I didn’t have to pay $30.
I did the same thing with my children. I really think that designated quiet time helps them develop their imagination and independence. 👍
Please do a video on viewer submitted inspiration photos for small/urban gardens! It can be so challenging to create privacy and beauty in a small space. I would love to see how others do it. Thank you for all you do ❤
Even my husband says thank you, Aaron, for the pronunciation of Spokane & Coeur d'Alene💕
That's so true
I absolutely love that you prioritize your kids/family.😊
Good morning all have a safe and blessed day 🥰
When Aaron mentioned taking the kids to the coast I definitely had to chime in...
You two are the cutest couple, I love to see the interaction between you two, you can see the love! ❤
Hello, Aaron, With all Ur Families Joy's, People just get out of sources, Jealousy 🙄 True Admirers, True Helpers, True Friends Honestly don't think of the Ulgyness other's fall into, "Pickling on" I call it, We, People Learn to live what they know, jealousy there are always them in every group, I choose not too dwell on negative and lift U All up in Many Prayers!! Freezing here in England too. The Chelsea Garden Show should be on everyone's bucket list. It really is spectacular. You should get someone to do a live stream there for you. It really is the best of the Garden shows!
I'd love to go to that someday.!
Good Morning ☀️ 🌸🌺🌼
Thank y'all for such a fun Sunday video, Laura you and Aaron do such a great job.
Excellent, interesting recap! I loved the onlooking cat during the Gardeners' Supply tomato planter demo.
Yes, so cute!
We woke up yesterday on the Eastcoast to 9*F. The reached 21*F in the afternoon and began to snow. The snowflakes were huge, and it was so pretty. We got about 4 inches of snow. Today it's 19*F. Just 10*F makes a difference.
Laura and Arron gardening expresses who you are an extension to show us and the world that flowers and etc there's another side of beauty and happiness to enjoy
That's me too to give pleasure to my neighbors as well
I love the way you both prioritise time with your children. Those memories will be your greatest treasure. Even now with grown up children my greatest joy is spending time with them.
Have y'all ever heard of Bellingrath Gardens and Home in Alabama? Great history and the gardens are spectacular. We went there for an Anniversary.
Good morning, Laura & Aaron ☕️ Another great recap. Going to check out that tomato 🍅 cage! Have a Blessed Day 😊🐈
Lol, Aaron…”Oregon is a huge state.” Lol I’m from Texas…we have 8 grow zones in our state. ❤️❤️❤️
Had to laugh too bc I’m also in TX! 🤣🤣🤣
I can’t thank you enough for your videos, and knowledge of plants. I have Learned so much and have added so many new plants to my garden. Thank you ! Can’t get enough!
Great recap. Loved it all. Thank you so very much for sharing this with us. Appreciated.🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Good morning
The Chelsea Garden Show is amazing. It does not disappoint.
Black goes well with lots of green in the background, white I think does better in open areas ❤❤
Good morning! 🌻🐝
I’m from OH - it’s definitely a long “i” in East Palestine. We also have Berlin, Ohio, in Amish country. The emphasis is on the first syllable, not the second like the one in Germany. I got in trouble with a waitress the first time we went to Amish country because I pronounced it like the city in Germany.😬
... I'm from Maryland and didn't know about the Berlin (Ohio) pronunciation... thanks for that pointer!... 👌👩🏼🌾💚 =^..^=
A long “i” would be like Palestine in Israel. It must be like “ee”.
Love the recap video. Went to the garden show just to see you both. Loved Aarons statement about living in Oregon! We live in Washington and no one lives anywhere else but King County or Tacoma. Unless they want to come see our tulips!
Awesome as usual! Look forward to my morning dose of your show.
Hahaha. My husband’s “Bradford pear” answer is “ jumping spider” whenever I or my kids ask him what kind of spider is this? Made me lol 😂😂
I love the stories about the kids
@user-dyf4dp2dgl9t I dont have telegram
So many examples of place pronunciations! We could amass a long list, I'm sure. CON CORD, NC vs CON-kurd, CA is another example. Fun ruminations with you guys!!
A houseplant decoration submission would be right up my alley!
Thank you.
Great video always fun and lots of good information to ponder over as I sit here looking out at 10" of snow! 😊🐝🌻🌼🌸🌺🌞
I had an idea for a viewer submission videos. I think it would be awesome to have a video of everyones favorite plants/tress (Much like you all do the videos of favorite shrubs, perennials, annuals). I know I would enjoy expanding of my list of plants to keep an eye out for.
Maybe by climate?
Great recap. I always enjoy these. Have a blessed day
Aaron's take on modern art: 👍👍
Yea please come back to Philadelphia flower show! Would love to meet you both in person. 💚🌻
However, I push through and enjoy life the best I can 💜
@@TheAndreawixson I’m so sorry you’re dealing with all these health issues. I will pray for you.
You guys are so great! You just make me laugh sometimes! So glad you do this together, what a team!
I’d like to see gardens on sloped areas in a video.
Lol I just started playing the video and from the next room I hear my husband say “Hi Laura!” 😂I may watch everyday.
So,much enjoyed the recap, thsmls for sharing with us
We went to Chelsea Flower Show 2022-on Member Day which was less crowded. I don’t feel a need to go again or take someone else to experience. It was crowded & challenging to get any great photos without zillions of people. However, give me a chance to tour the classic gardens again & again….I wept over & over seeing all the beauty. Dreaming of THOSE memories not Chelsea.
I'm with you Laura; my home and garden are my favorite places. No need to travel.
So glad you loved the Philadelphia Flower Show, I'll be going to the show this year with my daughters and we are very excited! 🌺🌸🌼🌷🌻
Good morning you two!
Your plants behind you are beautiful. I thought it was pictures at first they are arranged so well!!!!!
Snow day! Time to bake some cookies and read books by the fire. I hope you all have a fabulous week.
