  • Another relatively simple job to remove, clean, inspect, re-oil & refit the air filter. However, as is often the case this job didn't quite go so smoothly as planned....
Correct air filter fitment is critical to prevent dust ingress into your engine - if this happens then it can at the very least cause accelerated engine wear to the cylinder, piston & rings, often causing the engine to start to burn oil. YThe dirt can also wear valve stems & guides too adding to the oil consumption of your engine. It's important to make sure the air filter is in good condition & is well sealed to the air box to prevent this from happening.
    Enjoy

Hey Andy, great video. The reason for most manufacturers moving over to "no tools" filters is because a filter can be fully plugged during extremely dusty conditions half-way through the riding day, so it allows riders to carry a spare oiled filter and swap it out easily.

Good video Andy. I heard a similar story once about a washed air filter gassing up in the heat and someone having similar results at startup. Sorry I missed the last livestream. I would like to tell you that I was down at the pub, but actually I fell asleep before the stream started. Cheers.
