Another video that shows how professional you are. Hope Talon follows in your footsteps
just caught this channel by chance and its addictive, to see someone taking such pride in his work and the skill level and attention to detail is impressive I live in uk and some of the recovery agents in this country could take lessons from these videos . keep up the good work will be watching !!!!
Talon's comment about the 'Tator "This truck makes big things look small" is the truth! Great Video!
wow! i learn something new everyday as a truck driver of 29 years Ive always been fascinated with tow trucks i never new what it takes sometimes thank you Talon and Ron for the great work you do be safe and god bless.
Talon is a smart young man. He knows what his limitations are and he knows that Ron has his back.
You have taught Talon well Ron.
That was one great recovery! For being a "simple"pull it definitely taught me a lot in 20 minutes
I think Talon made the right call. Some young ones would have just gone " I got this" and end up ripping up the yard.. So Credit goes to Talon for making the right move.
That small dump truck pulled the rotator backwards... Woah that is some resistance..
Great vid as always Ron and Talon.. Thanks for Sharing it with us ! Stay safe and I hope you get some rest soon..
I agree with you' he's growing more skill each day and knowing it was past his abilities and calling for help shows that and he's a smart guy and awesome employee .
Couldn't agree more, but Talon has a great teacher!
First thing i thought of was... why not get the other truck and have the line out ... that will increase pulling force... but... wow didnt think putting wood in the tires would do the trick.
MrMag
Agreed! The most important thing is knowing your limits, and when you know that you don't know.
That picture of the american flag hanging from crane is the epitome of the the american spirit. God Bless you man!
Great job Ron. And props to Tallon for knowing when to call you for help instead of making the situation worse. Goes to show that you have a quality team that is trained well, and works together even better.
How much would a job like that cost
I so admire the work you do. It wears me out just watching.
Blocking of your wheels was interesting, never thought about doing it that way. Good job.
Poor poor pette and I am glad your rotator is ok I hope the driver of that black pette was not hurt I love your videos and It cracked me up when tallen said “now I don’t feel so bad for calling for help” lol made my day
Probably Talon called for help because he could not get the customer to shut up long enough to get the job done. Ron is more diplomatic with the customers who insist the job be done their way and will not get out of the way.
Excellent video, when I did my IVR training, we had to do the resistance calculations before starting the recovery. Most operatives would just have just have dropped the anchor cleats and ripped the road up. You did it with no damage to the casualty or the terrain, so well done to you!
Ron, you are really knowledgeable about what you are doing as well as what you need to do.
WOW! I have watched enough of your videos, and, have seen real life recoveries as a Police Officer, That I had the same idea as your setup. But, when the Rotator started dragging back, I became lost as to what to do next. Fortunately, the professional that you and Talon are, you showed me the correct method on the recovery. Nice Job Guys!!!
This really puts things into perspective. I had a driver snap a winch cable pulling my car out of a field when I was a teenager. I thought it was weird but my car was up to the frame. Didn't even think of that the first time I watched this video. Great video as always Ron.
One of the hardest lessons I learned when I was coming up in my field was to drop back and ask for help. And often as not, by the time I came around to asking to help I was in worse trouble than I had been to begin with. It's good to see Talon being smart and asking for help.
Tow operator for 20 yrs, great truck with the lumber in the duals. Great video as always, makes me yarn to go back to work
I love your positive approach to life. You always treat your employees with respect and give them a chance to offer up suggestions good or bad without any rude comments when they are not the best. Keep it up and May GOD bless you and yours.
Ed
Ain't life funny a 750000 truck and 100 dollars worth of shop blocks to save the day ...got to love it....
HEY RON HOW FAR DOES THE ROTATOR. REACH
@@HARRY-BURT 38ft boom
Nice Job Ron. I like the way you grabbed the frame with those hooks. I Have those hooks as well. Good thing to keep in the back of my head for future recoveries and videos!
Plaza Towing I don’t tow because I’m a truck and heavy equipment mechanic. That blocking the tire trick is pretty slick too
I noticed those hooks had the flat so it didn't point load the hook.
Rigging is probably the hardest thing to learn to avoid damage I am sure. Also proper rigging can be the difference between life and death with that kind of tension especially.
I love how both of you guys ,both Ron and plaza towing, show the rigging because that's something that none of the towing shows ever show enough of. Proper rigging can make all the difference in the world.
We had a neighbor loose an 8 wheeler tractor and large cultivator into a swamp many moons ago. It took 3 large tow trucks and 3 d6 cats with winches. Was one hell of a mess by the time we were done. We used our cats and had to drag the trucks across the field into winching position then dug holes in which we back our dozers into to winch. When we were finally on solid ground with the tractor we had pulled the dozers into the ground about 8 feet. The trucks had to have deadmans to even do anything. The hole where that tractor went in is still there. Sign up by it with the gentleman's name on it. RIP John ....
I want mudding in my 1979 ford f150 l got it all the way to doors
I learn something every time I watch one of your videos, Ron. That's what makes 'em so enjoyable. Talon was absolutely right in calling for help, his "little" truck would have been in over it's head on that one, even though at first glance it seemed pretty straightforward.
Superb job by everyone!
Rotator Ron and his faithful sidekick "Waddles" did good again. Thanks for the video.
Coooper
Waddles?
Talon tends to waddle when he walks. Ron has a video of two where Talon is wearing a gopro in the chest harness and you notice it.
I never would have believed, before you started, it would take that, but when it came out, that was huge hole.
Great 👍🏆✌ work.
🇺🇸 ingenuity.
It's a nice start to a swimming pool.
Of course half of the hole was created by plowing the wheels through the dirt. It wasn’t the original hole size.
Great video Ron.. entertaining as always.. and Talon's comment was priceless :) "I don't feel so bad calling for help now" Kudos from Norway..
Holy crap that fl70 making the 1150r move i liked how talon said he didnt feel so bad calling for backup and dang it ron giving us that sneak peak i got ants in my pants to watch it i love your videos your commentary during and the helmet cam taking us along are what i consider they best ive seen from towing channels not to mention the varied of calls
Yet another great video, not only a well done recovery and working with the client, adding the calculations whatnot to show why the big 'Tater was the best option for this recovery. Thanks Ron for your professionalism and education along the way!
What is really amazing is just how much winching capacity the boom winches have.
David Tyndall It amazed me even more that the parts of the bogged truck where still in tact after dragging a whole 72000 pound truck on it.
That just shows how smart and experienced Ron is. He pulled from the same side of the frame that was "stuck", pulling from the opposite corner of the frame would surly have "racked" the frame of the dump truck.
Richard van Pukkem true. That’s Freightliner for ya I guess!
This one was very interesting. It wasn't even raining or showing! Great job guys.
Ron I really look up to you because Of the way you work safety first and your patient you don't get in a hurry
WOW! I wouldn't have believed it had I not seen it, that little dumper with only one tandem stuck could have been enough to drag the tator with the brakes on & the riggers deployed. That was a pretty darn hard pull for what it looked like it was going to be. Also tell Talon he shouldn't feel bad for asking for help.... because when that little voice inside you says I might need a hand with this one, only a fool would continue on his/her own. That is how people get hurt or things get damaged and then you have a even bigger problem. It is the same thing as there is no such thing as a dumb question, you might get a stupid answer but the only dumb question is the one that wasn't asked.
Crazy Craig's RC's and 3d iibi
Crazy Craig's RC's and 3d bi
Doesn’t “tandom” mean (in this case) one set of wheels ahead of another? Like Ron said, Talon only had one rear axel, so I am thinking tandoms would be two rear axels. Is that right? I am not sure if the third axel counts since it is not always in use.
Good call Talon!! I like how he called for help instead of trying it on his own and making it worse. I've done that with a previous job. Would rather call the boss for help with something little instead of making a bigger mess. Stay safe out there, and as usual I pray for all your guys safety.
Don’t take this the wrong way.I’m retired firefighter I love it when people follow you everywhere you go and suggest 100 different things to help you do your job. The best thing they could do is stand back and let us do are job.
Rotator overkill?
No such thing, I’d take that Rotator to commute to and from work if I could 👍🏻
enjoy fueling it :)
All it takes is money.
Talon, never apologize for asking for help. Be thankful you can get good help. Of course, thank him.
Interesting how Physics is Always involved. Thank You Professors, for the demonstrations . . .
That was really amazing! I had no idea that a small dump truck could create that much resistance for the rotator. It sure surprised me when the rotator started going backwards. Talon, your a very good person and you made a very good decision to call Ron in to help you. That shows maturity and how truly skilled you are working in the company. Great job, both of you! Your are teaching me stuff I would have never even thought of, that’s what I like best!👍🏻😊
Ron i loved it when you called the dump truck little. That made me laugh. I know those dumps are heavy. I just wonder what the driver of the dump was thinking for going on soft ground. Plus filled with all those rocks. When you pulled it from the street blew my mind away. What a long cable you have. Great truck you have. Hope you got some rest. God bless
It’s good to hear the commentary during the recovery and your perspective dictated on the screen. This goes to show the dedication needed to successfully pull off these task. Good job, great video. Keep on keepin’ on.
I am sure the driver of the dump truck was figuring it was just a hook and jerk. It was the right thing not to go backwards. Just incredible when you start looking at the numbers. Wow. This video has a lesson. Thank you I enjoy all your videos.
Talon made the right call to bring the big girl out to play. Resistance can be a pain. Great job Talon and Ron! I can't wait for the roll over video!! Be safe out there!!!!!
Wow the way you blocked your tandem, I drove a semi for 28 years never seen that before. Just Goes to show you can teach an old trucker new tricks. Awsome video as usual
Reminds me of "dumping" a RV into the sewer on a campground here in Europe. A little bit too far backwards and down the wheel went...
A friendly and helpfull guy tried to pull us out with a car. No way! At last we lifted the RV with a jack and filled the sewer funnel with wooden logs to come free finally. And the best of all: the rented RV didn't got any scratch! Tales you can tell your grandchilds... ;-)
What a great job you had to make, thank you for sharing your amazing video
You sir are one of the best. I've been watching for sometime now . I hate to see someone's vehicle , most of the time its someone's livelihood that we see destroyed, I hate it. But thank you for videotaping it to share with us. I'll continue to watch. Thank you. Don
You’ve got a good hand with Talon. You two make a team to be reckoned with.
Yeah resistance aint no joke.had a small mazda 323 from the 80s (980kg car) stuck in mud behind our old house where our family lived at the time. We were moving and needed it to be moved but it sunk down into the ground down to its belly. It took the combained power of a 4x4 pickup and an other car to pull it out. 4500kg of weight and compained 300hp to pull less than a 1000kg car.
Thomas Telling this reminds me of being on a construction job,,66Dodge Dart, it had been raining ALL DAY, not paved, just rolled dirt, last off the job, it sank to the frame, had to walk to a phone, called a tow truck,he barely got me out without ,him being stuck.that was 1970.
Hello Ron. It`s Nice to see that you are using the old Wood trick, i learned that about 25 years ago and it never failed me. Nice work. Stay safe and God bless.
Hey Ron and Family,
I'm from NEA so not to far from you. I came across your videos by accident a few months ago and I've been hooked ever since. Keep up the good work.
May God Bless You And Keep You Safe.
Your videos are some of the best if not the best on youtube when it comes to this line of work, keep doing what you're doing Mr. Pratt!
Persistence always beats resistance. Nice job fellas.
Talon's smart...my respect for him and his judgement grows every time I see him doing his stuff...my respect for you, sir, is already pretty well unlimited...
Thank you for posting...it's always interesting
Dave
That blocking method on your wheels was great. Gonna store that away in the memory.
Come on Ron, really, sorry, you know you can't beat the forces of nature!! Another great video, thank you. PS: Bring your awesome crew here to Florida,,a whole new challenge. Love you guys. Stay safe and blessed.
I remember watching this the day it came out
Man time flies
Great video Ron. Talon really had no choice but to call you in I think it shows his maturity and knowledge that you have taught him when he got on the scene to realize his truck wasn't large or strong enough for the job. With all the weight being in the back of the dump truck and the whole being as deep as it was I could tell that was going to be a hard pull to get that truck out of there Was that possibly an old septic tank or something that the truck fell off in? I want you to know I appreciate the time and effort you take to make these video for our entertainment and education. Get some rest Have a great week. God Bless!!!
Just shows what a Man can do when he knows his tools and what he's doing with them, in your case Ron, You and your Rotator, I really enjoyed this video, thank you
I learn something every time I watch your videos. thank you
Can’t wait for the next video, keep safe my friend
Dude you were fighting gravity on this job since that truck sunk down so far. Awesome job on this recovery!!!!
Ron that was a long & hard pull, but u & Talon got the job done safely. I like that trick putting the blocks straight up & down between the axles instead of laying them flat on the ground. I've seen u do that in other videos to get the Tator stabized. Great job well done. God Bless
Its best that you go the extra mile in thinking and taking extra steps. Most people will assume it will be fine but your going to get this one driver that don't care with no cones to go through the block.
Ha Ha I have a smart TV. I am not very smart when it comes to this smart TV. but I finally figured out how to watch things on the smart tv. So now I watch you on the tv and it is like being at the movies. Love it. Oh back to the video . I was surprised to see the rotator sliding , wow that dump truck was buried. Great job the two of you. You really do know what you are doing. lol God Bless
Glad you can now enjoy the videos on a nice TV. Hope the quality is good for you. Thanks and God bless.
Ron, you are a very patient man. God Bless you and yours, Jim
I like the vids you decide to post. U seem as a down to earth family type of person. The way you treat ur customers. I like that. If you didnt have those chocks mayb u could have tied the other truck to the 1 doing the work , added resistance by additional brakes and weight as counter. Thks for the vid. Thumbs up
amazing rotator you got there ron. surprising how much of a problem mud can be. another awesome video, love how you explain what your doing too so others can learn. well done sir
Talon is a good employee asking for help instead of exceeding the other trucks limits.
Awesome job! So nice to see a very experienced man teaching his trade to a younger chap. You don’t see that much in the uk as not many want to learn the job! Top stuff keep it up :)
Another good job done. It did present a challenge but you certainly are creative - and obviously paid attention in math classes!
Before you did the first calculation, I looked at the size of the cable you were stretching out and wondered if it was enough to handle a fully-loaded dump like that.
...AND YOU SAVED THE MUDFLAP!
Very well done video and some food for thought too,
Excellent solution to block your tandems with the cribbing blocks, experience shows in all your videos, 2 thumbs up from here. Hope you guys get a break and get some well deserved rest. Stay safe guys !!
Never a dull moment, even the simple jobs can throw us a curveball. I once had a Jeep Cherokee that ran off the road because the driver was drunk. It was upright in some swampy ground with little trees all around so I just tossed a set of J's on the rear axle and started pulling. Well the damn thing wouldn't budge,I was just pulling my truck back and the rear axle was lifting on the Jeep. The fireman and I started to scratch our heads because we didnt see anything holding the Jeep. That was until we took a closer look and there was a small tree that speared the radiator and punched a hole in the firewall. When i started pulling the metal dug into the tree and the roots held strong lol. We cut the tree at the grill and she came right out but thankfully the guy didnt have a passenger and the tree went down the passenger side or he would have been speared by it too.
Always enjoy watching a master at work. Nice job!
What an amazing and very skilled service you have. Respect honesty compassion faith are some of the many qualities which makes your company stand out. HATS AND HAND TO HEART god bless and keep you safe. From David in New Zealand
Its crazy how such a small vehicle can pull back something 3X the size when its stuck. Great video and keep up the good work.
Your knowledge compared to mine - I’ll just sit here and put the light on sir , my wish and hopes are forever for you and yours Ron !
Great recovery from the outstanding crew of Midwest!
My four year olds favorite new channel!
I learned this on a MUCH smaller scale with my Polaris Sportsman 800 when she was fenders-deep in the muck. 3,500 lb. winch nearly stalled pulling the 800 lb. machine out of that quagmire! Wish I knew how many amps that thing was pulling on my poor battery! It was ALOT, I know that much!
Great video, and physics lesson! Looking forward to that next one. Thanks for your efforts, and God bless.
So, sleep deprived as you seemed, you didn't double lined and had a 12 ton dumpster draging your 34 ton tator back. I saw that happen with a little Sedan over here. And it was a even heavier Rotator on Mercedes w/ 5 axles. ( germans build those things on german trucks, we all have that sort of pride in machines, don't we?)
The man who dug it in was helpfull all the way and you seemed to like it, that someone was not just relying on you, but helping with it. the Midwest Yellow Angels have done a great job again. be safe and god bless.
Wow such a small dump truck can pull a big rig like that. Good Work Rod. Nice video. Good trick to use!
Great job. I thought it would just keep ploughing - but the timber jams was all that was needed. The 1150R took it in its stride but as you stated a single cable was pushing it a little. Massive torque/power all on idle!
Always a pleasure to watch your videos my kids and I love watching your videos
That was amazing work there Ron Learn something new ever time I watch your videos. Thanks buddy
IT AMAZES ME HOW YOU CAN DO SUCH A GREAT JOB, KEEP UP THE WORK THAT YOU DO AND GOD BLESS
even though I am not religious or believe in any god ….. you sir are better than any deity that people believe in because you are out there saving peoples lives and livelihood. also it is great watching heavy machinery doing awesome work
Ron thank you for sharing with us GOD bless everyone, from Kentucky
wow didnt think that kinda size of a truck would of moved the beast hehe ... thanks ron for the vid .. †
Dang it he tosses in a tease on the Peterbuilt and now I am gonna be waiting for that alert ding! My mind will be like a kid in the back seat on a road trip is it there yet lol. Great work Ron and Talon keep them videos coming!
With all this educating you're giving us , I think we now call you "Ro-tutor Ron" 😁😁 Keep up the great vids sir.
That plowing affect is part of the equation there Ron..nany a times I've taken out the shovel and remove as much dirt in order to decrease winch resistance...all in all..great learming tool you provided
Like watching your videos I have learned so much about the tow industry
Kinda new to Your channel , I really enjoy Your videos. You have a lot of patience , and I also appreciate Your safety standards. You also have a lot of patience dealing with the customers. Looking forward to Your future videos. Stay safe out there.
How can anyone dislike Ron's videos?
I wish I could ride along with Ron but I am too far away in the New England area.
I remember I had a month of April many years ago, new homes being built, and I had 8 different concrete mixer at different days in that month, upside down in peoples basements, those are long days.... Mind you, my trucks had no where near the lifting ability of today's rigs, by the 3rd mixer upside down, we ended up digging holes at the front and back mounting areas of the drum, to remove the bearing caps and hydro lines, of course, after the drums were secure, climb out the basements, and pull the rig out then the drums.... which by that time, the drums cargo had already set off hard to one side, I do not miss those days, no matter how much money I made, half a days work and sometimes, had to wait several days, for the contractor or help the contractors, to sure the building up safe for us to work... Homes were $200,000.00 to $400,000.00, $150,000.00 concrete mixers, $5000.00 to $30,000.00 to completely demo the house out of the way or for the contractor to sure things up for us to get down to do what we had to do. $8000.00 to $20,000.00 for the recovery... I bet the two concrete company's insurance company's were happy..as my price kept going up as it was cheaper for my trucks to be on site for crane work, while the contractors would do their thing in demo'ing, then hiring in a crane company at $1200.00 per hour, lol... The building code inspector had a chat with the two concrete company's that they had better get some training in on their drivers, meaning ,to stop driving along the side of new home contruction that have basements or they will be black balled, so I heard the conversation to be. Yes, those concrete company's, both are still in business, and as far as I know, they have not dropped a truck in a basement since...lol
Dru Bradley what in the hell were they thinking?
Yep a lot of resistance when you have to do direct pull instead of being able to set up and lift the man's rear end up and walk it around. Mother Nature might have made soft ground to burry his truck but she was making it a little ruff to plow. Tallon made the right decision in calling you for assistance because with his rig could have been some serious damage done under the conditions. Good job on both of you. Thanks for sharing sir.
Ron Pratt
I had a thought when the Rotator started moving.
my thought was to pull Talon's truck near yours,
use a snatch-block / double the cable, and use the second truck as a anchor.
Half the speed, twice the pull, and spit the load between the two trucks!
Great job, no additional damage to the property or vehicle.
MR. RON
WITH GOD IN YOUR LIFE EVERYTHING IS POSSABLE. WHEN YOU HAVE JESUS ON UR SIDE UR BUSSINESS WILL THRIVE .MR.RON AND TALON GOD BLESS FROM SOUTH EAST TEXAS. BE SAFE
