Commando C64 Theme Rescore
Вставка
- Опубліковано 8 лют 2014
- A rescore (or cover) of Rob Hubbard's classic theme for Commando on the Commodore 64. This might be my all time favorite C64 tune. I tried to stay as loyal as possible to the song's structure, but I completely modernized the instrumentation and added some extra flares.
Music by:
Jeff Clement
Based on the original song by:
Rob Hubbard
From the video game "Commando" for the Commodore 64, 1985 Elite Systems Ltd.
Turn off the lights, put on your headphones and turn up the volume.

(In an echoing voice) EPIC! ❤️❤️❤️
2:22 BOOM!
That's my favourite part. Sounds just as a good action movie. A massive OOMPH!
Oomph is a band
Lol
This is absolutely amazing
IMMORTAL !
Find a police car, make them angry and let them chase you. Put on sunglasses, play it in your car loudly while getting away on the autobahn. Thank me later.
well done, thanks .
That is how I remember that original was sounding back in the day :) In 1990's it was mind-blowing and this blows mind again in 2020 style:) Thank you for that!
It is from the eighties originally (1985).
Monsieur I know, but I heard it first time in 90s. I get my C64 in 1992 ;)
Outstanding
One of the best updates to modern synths that keeps the 8 bit sound alive at the same time...
Well done...
Zippy the Brain can you give me some other good examples?
Sounds amazing!!!
Awesome!!! Good job!!!! Very good!
excellent - my whole body is shaking - WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - just amazing !!!!!!!!!!!!!! - what a great arrangement - thumbs up
Awesome re-score! I loved how you even sampled the original in certain parts while adding your flair to it. Dope.
Thank you! I love the original so much I had to fit it in there somewhere.
@@AuralStimulations Lukhash does something similar with his C64 Spy vs Spy rendition.
Incredible
Normally I would say:
"you can't outdo the original"
This arrangement challenges that notion.
I like how it puts an updated spin on a classic, while keeping in step with the original
Thanks very much! That's exactly what I was going for. Glad you enjoyed it.
@@AuralStimulations yeah, he's right, really good! i'm a musician, i have listened to the original countless times (and love it) - i expected some techno-trance butchery or something ... but this is not dull at all, a cover and an original at the same time, great choice of sounds etc., very, very good! :-D
Original in the first place (arcade game) is by a lady named Tamayo Kawamoto. Rob Hubbard made her original composition his own with its special arrangement precisely. So technically, you can always outdo the original.
0:12 skip intro. Thank me later!
Wonderful job. I feel like if the game came out in the Super Nintendo era it would have sounded like this!
This is awesome!
1.25 is the speed pitch for the NTSC Version. This speed is the PAL version.
Yes the right one!
Excelente!👍
This is very cool indeed! Well done! :-)
Sweet!
Needs more cowbell
I'd agree
It needs more of something....
the grinding sound of a c64 hard drive resetting back to home position ^_^ a little crunch
I ❤ that rescore, please make some good new remaster. 8 bit music, rules my stereo, and your creation too.
Nice
this is dope. thanks.
Much appreciated, thanks!
LOVE IT :)
Not bad, I like it!
cool
Let off some steam Bernard.

To anyone who has thicc fingers who want to skip.
This is an incredibly well thought out rescore. Very faithful, nice and meaty. Is there an old world war 2 bomb siren going off in the background as 2:29? Anyhoo, I am no music critic, but as someone who listened to this tune for hours, this is amazing :)
Thank you! Keeping it faithful first was my primary goal. After that, it was about adding some flourishes here and there and updating the instruments to sound more modern. The siren effect was actually the lead instrument being dialed all the way back, but it did end up sounding siren-like, which I liked!
Aural Stimulation | Jeff Clement Ye, it worked really well!
Nice :)
sweet
I need this on a 1 hour loop.

I like it. And i'm a big fan of the original score.
+Alexander Blok Right on. I am too. Brings back so many memories...
My Computer c64
although I was from the dark side (ZX spectrum guy), this game the goosebumps. Very well done. Does anyone know any link to a video in which this tune is played by a real orchestra?
this is actually quite impressive, most i just listen to about :30 secs and click off, but this one..I like your work. good job :) what DAW did you use?
Thanks! I use Reaper as my DAW and this was composed using Native Instruments Komplete.
the ONLY minor complaint i have is the solo at the 3 min mark..i would have liked it a bit more forward in the mix and the rest dialed back...:)
put the speed to 1.25 and it's perfect
sticky170 amen, I play commando on an NTSC c64 anyway so this feels right at home!
dude your IQ is 280 or something
put it to 1.5 for NTSC
@@mfdgaming7181 Nope. It's exactly 1.25 where you should divide 29.97 Hz by 23.976 Hz. The element of surprise is that, PAL system had introduced an increased number of scanlines (625 total, 576 visible) whereas NTSC has a lower resolution. (525 lines, 480 visible) But the refresh rates had differed in reverse thanks to that goddamn difference of city powerline frequency, either 60Hz or 50Hz.
@@mfdgaming7181 In fact, this version has composed based on the PAL version.
Very good. Not quite as impressive as Commando V2, however. Still an awesome achievement.
legendary theme song when i was a little boy in the far 1985 year
This sounds like a battle theme!😂
35,000rd
FULL TURBO BOOST
Play this at 1.1x ... you can thank me later
Put it on 1.25 for original speed!
That'd be too fast, but I do agree when I made this it was about 5 BPM slower than it could have been.
Where's High Score from Commando? :)
not too bad
You need to speed this up to 60hz, it's sounds silly playing this slow.
Yeah if I could do it again, I'd bump it up another 10-20 BPM. I remember at the time playing around withe playrate and eventually settled on this.
Well it's an European game so this would be the correct tempo
@@samppa_j Go listen to the arcade, this is playing slow - the US 60hz version is the correct speed.
Plays in my head before trying to figure out what mood the wife is in.
0:12 it begins.
Meh...
Come on bro, you got to feel the motion!
You don't have to be ashame of yourself son, if you don't like it. Don't make some excuse comment. Just feel the inside of the music. Let it go man. Let it go!
