I'm from Argentina and is really cool to be able to learn from another man at the other side of the world. Thanks for sharing your ideas and work. As many others, this is a really cool project!
I used to collect swords when I lived in Germany. My son loves that and has collected knives since he was 7 in cubscouts. He's now going on 14 and has quite the collection. I am going to recommend this as a scout project to the troop. Great work.
What a great design! I've been asked to make a knife display for a friend, and I'm planning to have it plunged through a bent wood circle. But this is so cool, I'm tempted to change and do it instead!
Great project. Thank you for taking the time to share this with all of us. I've watched long enough to recognize the cool technique you used for the spring loaded magnet. I always thought previously that your video on making the adjustable measuring sticks was the best ever. I was wrong. This combines the previous idea with another idea (the mag). Wow. You are the best!!!
Jack: Super. At one point I thought it was the magic of Christmas, which had been able to levitate the knife. A hug. Have Happy Holidays, with their loved ones.
+Deadwolf Thanks for the heads up. I just did a bit of research and found a great video from SciShow explaining that magnetic force is part of electromagnetic force (a fundamental force). Also included in electromagnetic force is electrostatic force. Pretty interesting stuff, I didn't realise there were multiple aspects of electromagnetism.
Bravo! Nice work...I think that would make a nice gift or conversational piece. I'll be ordering my magnets and get started on making a few. Nice idea with the spring loaded clamp.
An amazing idea. Adding a case frame for it would make this a wonderful idea for Knife displays; Maybe even adding a small LED lamp on the base to illuminate it as well.
Cool project, Jack. There is only a magnet in the top, right? or is there one in the bottom also? I am trying to figure out why it lets you put the knife down on the base...
+wordsnwood I believe it's only on the top. When you put the knife on the bottom, the magnet doesn't really lift it, it just keeps it from falling over..
+Atomic Robo Tesla No, watch again and you see he is using his other hand to turn the screwdriver when it doesn't lift up. You can also clearly see that it's a simple, solid screwdriver, not one of the kinds you suggest. Lastly, the sound you hear doesn't actually sound like one of those ratcheting screwdrivers, and it isn't in sync with the video. Conclusion, he did add the sound, probably for comic effect.
Hi Jack I love your inventions, that is why I have chosen to ask you a favour. I'm considering making a puppet for my dad, however the research I've done, shows that the knee joint allows the lower leg to swing in both directions forward > and back and only swing forward > putting the knee in the forward > bent position and not the back < position. I hope you can help? I will keep looking to see of you post it
Very nice piece of work. You do not mention in the video, what is the power of magnet needed to have it work best? Thanks again for a neat project and video. Happy Holidays to you and family... Lloyd
In fact is a very clever system, really amazing, your creations ever surprise me! congratulations and by the way, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year for you and everybody.
As a knife collector and joiner, you've made a very happy man today, thank you, it's excellent.
This guy is so safe, he doesn't even have his hands in the same frame with the saw :D
Very nice :)
+muh1h1 If you notice his hands it looks like he has arthritis...I doubt he could safely use his hands anymore.
TACO OCAT He seams to handle it very well :)
+muh1h1 5:00
Safety rule #1: grab the blade
+muh1h1 So he is un-handy with a saw
humudu well, if it is not that sharp, i see no problem with that.
I'm from Argentina and is really cool to be able to learn from another man at the other side of the world. Thanks for sharing your ideas and work. As many others, this is a really cool project!
+Pahuana Your english is very good, Che, Saludos.....
Both of you are pretty good at english chabones
Absolute genius, Jack. I love your simplicity in thinking. To many people try to complicate thing and they look and function as an over done piece.
You've earned a subscriber. Clear instructions, good safety and great attitude. There aren't many people like you around these days.
excellent. I appreciate the noticeable patience taken on the build and the high regard for safety.

Now, this man is a true gem... I just love smart and skilled people... You have finesse in your work and I truly respect that... Merry Christmas...
I really like the springload tip -- I might have to work that into a project! Awesome build, Jack!
I always love your videos. They inspire me to want to woodwork, but I can never find the free time. Thanks and keep up the great work.
1:00 Jack is really a very safe woodworking guy. Knife holder is awesome too. Thumbs up
What a great design! I've been asked to make a knife display for a friend, and I'm planning to have it plunged through a bent wood circle. But this is so cool, I'm tempted to change and do it instead!
Thank you Mr.Jack.You are one of the nice teacher in the world.

That is one of the coolest things I have seen you make Jack!
Jack: Super.
At one point I thought it was the magic of Christmas, which had been able to levitate the knife.
A hug. Have Happy Holidays, with their loved ones.
The force (specifically electromagnetic) is strong with this one
the force is strong with this one!
You're wrong m8. There are no electromagnets used.
You always come up with the coolest things. Thanks Jack.
Cool project Jack

Pretty cool Jack !!! That just looks so clever !! (I don't dare say sharp.... I wouldn't want you to get cut removing that knife)
I love the added sounds and the video, good job!
Magnifico diseño Jack, saludos
Excellent, I really enjoy watching you build your projects.
Wow! That is too cool. I need to make a birthday present, and this will be perfect. Thanks!! Keep warm!
another innovative video Jack!
I wish I could keep my shop that clean
Clever, clever, clever. Have a nice Christmas.
Hi Jack! Great ideia, i'll surely try it soon!

Jack you are amazing to watch keep it going
Nice build. Good video. Lot of editing/work. Thanks. Subscribed
Yep could do a long one for a screwdriver holder. Nice project sir
Jack that is soooo cool. You are amazing!
+Wordsnwood (Art Mulder) I used a rare earth magnet.
This dude added in screw driver noises at 1:58
Or maybe it was designed in a way that makes noise? If you pay attention you'll notice he never lifts the screwdriver, use tat hint to figure it out.
Trevor Lambert Not quite sure how it'd be funny but ok.
It's pretty obvious that it was added in. That's just a normal screwdriver, and the sound is looping.
the noise sounds more like dragging a screwdriver over a file or rasp. yeah, definitely not a ratcheting screw driver tho.
Tadaaaa....Sweet setup Jack!
that was totally cool. very creative... by the way, I made some of your camdle holders with the built in match holders for Christmas that were a hit
All your videos are awesome and great ideas.
That's a real magic, Jack! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks Jack!!!
Will try with limited tools
Very cool Jack!

Amazing creation. I will certanly try to make one myself. Thanks from The Netherlands
I was already amazed with the version without the spring, so simple and genious
Super little project Jack.
What size magnet did you use/need to hold the knife?? JimE
Amazing projects and videos! Happy New Year from an Italian fan! Cheers!
Francesco Magistrali non avrei mai pensato di trovare un italiano qui
Great idea! Anything with magnets (especially hidden) is usually amazing.
I like all your videos. This knife holder you made is amazing. good work
Really well done, like :)
Awesome Jack! Very cool!
Novel idea! I like it!
Well done Jack.
That's good.
Best Wishes, Brendan.
What type of magnet did you use? What was it's strength? Was it a rare earth?
It was a refrigerator magnet.

Happy New Year Jack! Nice idea.
They're really cool Jack. Great video :)
Very cool, I enjoy all your videos. A question though "how strong was the magnet you used?"
Jack Houweling; That is amazing. It makes me want to try it!
Very nice piece of work. You do not mention in the video, what is the power of magnet needed to have it work best? Thanks again for a neat project and video. Happy Holidays to you and family... Lloyd

Can you please tell me what size magnet you used and what strenth for the knife holder. I think it is great and would like to make one. Thanks.
Mago Jack !! Feliz Navidad !!
Love your work. Just brilliant
In fact is a very clever system, really amazing, your creations ever surprise me! congratulations and by the way, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year for you and everybody.
Definitely going to build this.
The cup intensifies the magnet? How does that work?
Awesome creation, thanks for sharing :)
If you add a ferromagnetic material (metal) to a magnet it will increase the magnetic field to some degree making the magnet seem stronger.
+Tor Arne Benjaminsen Some how the steel reflects the magnetic force from the other side of the magnet increasing its power.
that's pretty cool Jack
That was one cool holder!
Very nice :-)
Which dimension does the Magnet and the Magnet holder have and where did you get it from ?
+Jack Houweling
ok ... found it . thanks :-)
Which size did you use ? Looks like 1" ?
Jack please, how is called that thing that u cut that magnet holder with? ( 1:38 )
Deemed is the most well know brand for this tool but it's actually called a rotary tool
