It wouldn't have been that simple, considering how all the backgrounds are pre-rendered. They would've needed to make the backgrounds 3D from scratch.
But as a standalone game? Sure.

were it even possible (which it wasn't because of pre-rendered backgrounds) it would have looked and ran like donkey turds, RE: Survivor was our only glimpse into PS1 era RE in first person and even that didn't run super great despite being released 2 years later

I like how they make some small changes just to make the game not always predictable. And Ada running through the corridor on 2nd floor is a welcoming surprise.
The N64 version of RE2 has several notes taken from RE3, and several new original notes just for the N64 port. Dario's note can be found in the same spot in the bus in the N64 port, and in RE3 in the container if you go back after it's been opened and Dario is killed.
Yeah, N64 version have several extra file that can be found, one of them is Dario's Note. They probably just gonna add those as a full feature in this VR version.
interesting design, surprisingly polished. but some scenes and rooms look a tad bit too cramped and too narrow imo.

I love all the fan-made games featured on this channel. But this one takes the cake. a little more polish and this'll be even better.
2:09 over twenty years, and it's because of this perspective that I finally realize that the trucker was *in* the gas station when he knocked that zombie down. For some reason, I always numb-brainedly assumed he was in the truck the whole time, despite the camera angle obviously showing the truck in full view. I even had to pull up the original video to double-check.
One thing I want to see in like a more updated version of this is actually being able to play the intro part when Leon pulls his gun out cause that would be so sick of course it would take the control from you once you enter the police car and also I hope that after this is finished the Creator will think about either doing RE3 or Veronica cause that would be crazy cool especially for RE3 for me cause imagine Nemesis in this art style he would be even scarier

The best save room themes are A Safe Haven(the RE1 REmake version) & A Moment of Relief from CVX but honestly every single save room theme from the classic games(0-CVX) are all phenomenal.

BOTH RE2 and RECV Save Room themes are the best IMHO. This fan-game looks fun and worth streaming.

i'm curious why the guy running a Resident Evil themed youtube channel doesn't know that?? it's not a huge secret or anything
this is awesome. it would be great to play in VR, but if that's too much to program, i hope they just add a "snap turning on the right stick and no vertical camera movement" toggle in the options - then it would be easy for anyone to play it in VR with Vorpx without getting sick. bonus if you can set your snap turning increment, like 30 degrees or 45 degrees. can't wait for the full game!
I'd also add the ability to just walk up and down stairs instead of doing the rigid load scene thing, which can be frustrating when you accidentally click wrong and then have to go all the way back down and back up again.
I really hope he adds saving and inventory to his RE1 project once he's got them both squared away, would really suck for a project so close to being finished to just sit in limbo. This looks amazing though. Also fun fact, Dario's Memo can actually be found in the N64 version of RE2 in that same spot :D

Seeing pretty much all of the prologue events in 1st person makes it all seem/feel weirdly like new again but not like in RE7 kinda way.
I hope this is will be a full game someday.

RE2 first cutscene is my favorite in the whole franchise. It was my first RE game so this game had a lot of feels lol 😅 probably why Leon is my favorite character. RE3 save are my best. It’s prefect after being chased by nemesis make ya feel safe until he break in. Then you load your pants.

This is incredibly faithful to the original game I played as a child. Although I played the N64 version. But I can still tell how close it is to the version I played. There is such a sense of nostalgia I get from this! I tip my hat to the developers of this fan game. Way ta go guys!

Personally i never liked re1 or 2 but re3 might just be my favorite game of all time and it holds up much better
The save room themes for RE 1 2 and 3 are all so definitive for their version, I can't decide they all have their unique feel. Although RE1 save room is just sublime.

The Dario Rosso journal was actually from the original Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, they added it to this game for some reason.
It's weird how different the experience is just with first person perspective 😲 My favourite save room theme is the remix of RE2 theme in RE3 remake. Although RE3 remake could have easily been better (you know the reasons!), it's soundtrack was brilliant ❤️
Cool I feel like this could be a first step to a new resident evil VR. I hope next year we get more solid info on RE9 cause I like the first person view it gives you a sense that you are the main characters in the game I remember playing RE dead aim you shot in first person and explored in third capcom should add different modes in future games and let us pick which one to use.

When i was a kid playing this game i remember dreaming of playing the game in like first person or third person, anything where you could see the world behind as other than static. I remember thinking it would be impossible to get the quality of graphics of the backgrounds, games will never look that good in real time. These graphics are super accurate to the original, and comparing them with the remake they are clearly super retro and i feel a weird mix of feelings, like my dream game finally came true, but im getting so old that modern games far surpassed my childhood dreams.
Reminds me of House of the Dead original arcade in FPS (First Person Shooters)

The person who is working on this game has put a lot of heart into it, the whole city was rebuilt, excellent work. Yes, 3D models look obiviously funny but this is just a demo.
It brings good memories and a bit of nostalgia. Hopefully this project will be finished some day.
To think that over two decades game still rocks till this day :)
