With the ability to change maps on these new bikes, they've made them such versatile machines. My YZ450FX feels at home in any element with just a simple map switch
I want to ride a current YZ450FX!!! I think Yamaha FX models have some very good EFI mapping for low engine RPM running - much better than Honda CRF's. Plus you can tune the maps with your phone - good stuff. My favorite YZ450FX video from Ash Sowman...I like Do-it-All bikes ua-cam.com/video/JaGsGo1BORA/v-deo.html
I absolutely love the look of this bike...and Honda❤. But, I'm very conflicted between this bike and the yz250f. I'm just starting to ride again after many years away from the bike. Was looking at 250fx but will moto more. Maybe I should just go with the yz250 to get my wheels back under me? What are your thoughts between these two bikes now that you've written both of them. I've heard this 450 is a nice Easy Ride...compared to most 450s?
Great to hear you are getting back into bikes! You will not go wrong with any of your choices. 250F's are super easy to ride with linear smooth power that does not overwhelm you though you have to keep the RPM's up. Great "get back into riding" bike or weekend warrior bike. The YZ250F's with the reverse head make impressive mid throttle roll on torque for a 250F. YZ250 smoker is a classic and amazingly still a very fun and effective bike. Great suspension, well jetted carb, fun power.....mixing gas and hauling a**! 450's are the flagship moto bikes and get all the latest technology and R&D focus. Never has close to 60 hp been so accessible to everyday riders. Map switches allow for normal, soft, or aggressive power character. Traction control can smooth the linear power out even more. Agile and responsive handling. The 21 CRF450R/WE has smooth linear and easy to control power plus (3) maps and (3) levels of traction control to dial the character to your liking. Of all the special "Edition" bikes perhaps the 21 CRF450 Works Edition is the best looking. I sometimes go out in the garage just to look at it:) Enjoy getting back into riding!
@@mxengineer1 thank you for the great advice! I will most likely go with the yz250f for this season. I would really like to see changes to the CRF250r before I would purchase one. Hopefully the '22 250 will get the same changes the 450 got this year. So it looks like you're out in Marysville? A great friend of mine works for Honda as well. Bill Lanz. Hopefully he doesn't mind I drop his name here. 😆 Maybe I'll catch up with you sometime and come out there riding! The track you guys are riding on looks amazing.
@@Tommymurraydrums YZ250F is a great choice (the 21 YZ250F Monster Edition is very tempting to me). Thanks to my buddy I have some quality seat time on a 20 and 21 YZ250F... ua-cam.com/video/NvFLkJtScqw/v-deo.html I worked with Bill: he is a smart Engineer and great guy! Rock on:)
@@mxengineer1 no kidding! I'll have to tell him. Yes... the YZ. Was very close to getting the yz250fx but I'll probably be riding more track than woods... I'm guessing I could loosen up the suspension a bit to get it to feel good on trails? Monster edition is very cool 😎 But your crf450we...man that thing is sweet. How does it ride comparatively to the yz250f? Does it do all the same stuff? Or something better. My fear would be that I couldn't control all that power.
@@Tommymurraydrums Yes the stock YZ250F suspension responds well to clicker changes. Just open up compression 3~6 clicks and a few on rebound and you should be plush enough for woods riding.
@@mxengineer1 yeah don’t know which one to get for the crf450 2021 , yoshi rs12 or the pro circuit ti-6 ….. haven’t seen many Hondas with pro circuit … any taughts?
@@cianosullivan5268 I've recently spent time riding some Yoshimura RS12 complete systems on a 22 Gas Gas MC350, 22.5 KTM 250 Factory Edition, and '23 KTM 350SXF. I think Yoshimura spends a lot of time on the dyno as all of these systems made a noticeable improvement in throttle response and power feel plus they were all quieter than stock. Yoshimura also works directly with the Honda factory team and Yosh exhausts come stock on the Honda CRF450 Works Edition models - that means they meet Honda's quality requirements. I'd go with Yosh for a CRF250/450R
Have not had the new Works Edition on a moto track yet. I like the smooth yet lively power character and quick handling chassis of the Works Edition. I tend to prefer steel frames to aluminum. Going to be fun to ride and compare the Works Edition and Factory Edition back to back. For now the 20.5 Factory Edition is my favorite 450 to date
KTM/Husky 350's are still my favorite combination of power/weight/handling in a 4-stroke dirt bike. The '21 CRF450 Works Edition is a a focused motocrosser and the updated engine is so much smoother and easy to ride that it might be fun on the trails too. Weather is getting better in Ohio now so hope to ride the CRF450WE more soon!

Do you think the yoshi pipe is louder than stock?
No - I think the Yosh system has a little deeper (less sharp) sound.
