No way those peace talks will succeed, even though they are now saying Ukraine will pledge not to join NATO but there are two more demands from Russia, that is to de-militarise and de-nazify Ukraine, de-militarisation could be achieved peacefully, but the de-nazification (ie: Zelensky turning against the Azov battalion and it's likes) cannot be achieved, if Zelensky turns against the Azov battalion and other far right militias then a civil war will happen between the Ukrainian army lead by Zelensky on one hand and the far right volunteer militias on the other, and those volunteer militias will likely win and topple Zelensky if he betrays them.
Putin will probably wait for one or three weeks max, if Zelensky cannot agree to the terms in time then Russia will decide time's up and will take over the entirety of Ukraine.

800 miles is nothing. Try slinging around intercontinental ballistic missles, otherwise known as ICBM's. They can hit any target on the planet. I believe they leave, and then reenter the atmosphere. While they can be intercepted, it's much harder because of the speed and trajectory.

If you are referring to the Donbass region, I admit that I'm still doing my research there. From what I can tell, there were some pro-Russian UKRAINIANS who were getting treated cruelly, so they took up Russian weapons and attacked their own government. Their own government fought back, and about 14,000 died, including a tragic amount of civilians. I still do not see how this equates to Russia itself feeling molested.

That's right, and Putin doesn't have much longer to go.
First and foremost he's basically been in power illegally for years now, he bounced between prime minister and president and then had the Russian constitution changed so he could stay in power.
With all the sanctions Russia is on the verge of economic collapse, the Russian billionaires have had their multi million dollar toys seized and their bank accounts drained, the Russian Generals are probably about sick and tired of watching their men get killed over this nonsense, they know there's no Nazi regime running Ukraine, they know that's just Putin's propaganda.
Putin's desperate, he's trying his best to goad NATO or even just the US into some type of military intervention, if that happens then the narrative changes from them being the bad guys to them defending themselves and some of the countries that've seized Russia's assets will release them and that solves a bunch of his problems.
He's even gone as far yesterday to tell the Russian people that the US and other western powers are trying to start a civil war in Russia, that way any of the people who try to rise against him will be painted as pro US revolutionaries.
He's got himself painted into a corner pretty good here, along with the Russian billionaires and Generals having had enough of him in the Russian people's eyes he's the guy who's taken them to war with Ukraine, a country that the Russian's have always considered to be 2nd class, and is losing the fighter with them, talk about losing face.
I give him a week maybe a little more and best case scenario for him will be house arrest, worse case will be dead in a ditch.
Russia is on the verge of total bankruptcy, this can't last much longer.

Terrorize civilians? Russian tactics are used to minimize civilian causalities, while dismantling a country’s military. It’s a very tough operation. Sadly 640 civilians have been killed in the war so far(UN report). For comparison when the US invaded Iraq, 200k civilians had already been killed on the 22nd day.
