Usually there are more wounded than dead, but not in this case. =)
Military traditions are important! In the Russian army, generals have been "traveling for asterisks" for years. The general arrives at the front line for one day and sends soldiers to attack, and then receives a reward for his personal participation in capturing an enemy stronghold that no one needs. While conscripts served in the Russian army, it was almost always possible. However, currently there are contractors on the front line who have tremendous combat experience. Therefore, these generals get a "plywood star" instead of a "gold star".

@S W I think that's the point of the sanctions. China values western dollars more than Russia. Even in this war, I doubt the West truly cares about Russia or Ukraine. It's really a sanction flex to show China what will happen if they invade Taiwan which is a critical piece on the west's economy. We can live without oil, our top tech companies can't live without semi-conductors. This is to prevent the semi-conductor war, oil is last century.

@@user-pl2qg6mh4l I did. It's quite biased. Yes, Ukraine is another proxy war, but no, Russia is not justified in going into Ukraine. Saying "Zelenski wasn't democratically elected" is a red herring, that would be like Great Britain going into Washington after the successful revolution and being like "Hey hey! Washington wasn't democratically elected!" Yeah, there was a popular revolt and revolution, it's a messy process, the guy up to 2014 was DEFINITELY a dictator that callously killed his own people, and he was a Putin puppet. This is well known.
In the end it isn't that complicated. People who are saying Russia has justification have no good reasoning behind such statements. Russia is an aggressor, and Putin's OWN public stated reasoning has nothing to do with democratic this or that. He says the reason he is invading is to "denazify" Ukraine, which is such obvious bullshit. There's nothing Nazi about Ukraine. Zelenski is a Jew and his family fought the Nazis.

Why the US can’t solve homelessness?
Homelessness is costing taxpayers a lot of money. In 2019, New York City spent a record-breaking $3 billion to support its homeless population.
California is expected to break its record, allocating $4.8 billion to the same issue over the next two years.
      Despite the rising budget,
overall homelessness in the US has improved by only 10% compared with 2007.

So Putin's paranoia and corruption led to an ineffective army that can only advance with heavy losses and constant terroristic artillery.

      Which is worse?
      1) An all out war between NATO and Russia, possibly Nuclear, which rallies the Russian people in support of Putin. Or
      2) Economic sanctions that cripple Russia’s economy, arming Ukrainians with incredible weaponry that is highly mobile like Javelin missiles to take out Russian tanks and expose their military as a paper Tiger, and the slow realisation by the Russian people that their leaders aren’t even admitting this is a war as their dead slowly return home?

The death of the Generals is amplified by the lack of self direction identified in the lower ranks. That is the opposite of what one German General observed about American soldiers: he found them one and all to believe they were the next General Patton, and that the old military ploy of killing the leaders didn't work the same with American soldiers. The Russian front line personnel lack any knowledge of the overall strategies involved or overall goals of the campaign. They also have no way of honestly conveying what they are seeing on the battle field to the command level personnel because they have been taught that 'thinking wrong' will get them punished.

Great to hear from Petraeus. He approaches problems from a pragmatic point of view and is very gifted at breaking problems down into component parts while also keeping in mind the big picture. Really good analysis. The Russian generals being killed is very unusual. In modern war, a general can conduct war from many miles away from the frontlines, so it is very peculiar for them to make themselves vulnerable for a host of reasons. It destroys the chain of command, it renders units unresponsive, and it is not easy to just replace a general lost in battle, unlike standard soldiers. A general has spent their entire life familiarizing themselves with how war is conducted, what equipment they have available, knowing their limitations and needs, knowing the people under their command, etc. Losing a general isn't losing a soldier, it is losing decades of learning, experience, and morale for a unit. Five may not seem like much, but it is a crippling blow in reality.

The problem is that psychopaths are not held back by empathy.
Most non-psychopaths reach hurdles in their life, for example when they don't want to lose a friend or just people close to them. In addition to that most get taught morals and that you should treat others fairly.
In most cases those are just minor things, which already lead to a slowdown, but there are also major things which can't be done if a person has empathy.
For example Putin came into power by staging a terror attack and waging a war based on that. Pretty much no non-psychopath would do that.
