  • 👋 Background info on myself:
My name is Matei Florin and for the last 13 years I worked as an operator in a police tactical unit and as a PMC (Private Military Contractor) in High Risk Zones, maritime security anti-piracy missions. Six years ago after a lot of training and studies I've created TCS (Tactical Combat System) a modern fighting system that utilize blades and firearms combat tactics.
Some knife drills for attribute development.
Drills are having the roll to program our brain to have a specific response and achieve different attributes like speed and precision.
Drills are not the same with reality. Here my target is fix in reality the target will have unpredictable movements and will oppose resistance. This drills are very good practice for establishing a solid foundation regarding the use of the blade.
I teach ambush and counter ambush using the knife not fencing with the blade.
The Knife can be a close distance weapon but can be transformed also in a projectile weapon. Combat knife throwing technique’s can be use in short distance from the target, for creating the time and space to evade or when you have multiple targets.
Why is happening in close distance?
Because is very hard to hit a target that has unpredictable movements from a big distance.
Combat Knife throwing is not spectacular, the goal is to be efficient.
The Hollywood industry was creating a false idea about combat knife throwing. Of course that is existing the probability that the knife throw that you perform in close range can kill the target but the main function is to create the time and distance that you need to evade or incapacitate a target.
Make sure that if you throw your knife you have other weapons or tool that you can use to not remain with empty hands.
The elements on which it is based a knife attack are extremely different from what the majority of self defense systems are teaching.
And I talk here especially about the situations in which a criminal individual wants to kill you or inflict you damage.
First of all he will never show you the weapon. He will close the distance using the fact that you are not aware of your environment or using different ways to approach you in a friendly or non dangerous manner. He will have already is blade, weapon prepared in his hand but using different deception techniques to covert this. He will look for the best moment and possible that you will be cornered or in a confined space so the idea of running is reduced.
He will grab you and deliver his fast and brutal attack. When all this elements are coming together, doesn't matter in which system you train, how fast you are with your blade, how precise you shoot or what weapons you have at you. The chances that you will survive are minimum.
The main key factor is to understand that AWARNESS is the most important part of the self protection and training this element must be prioritized so you will be able to identify in time potential threats and also prepare your weapon.
Training in different scenarios that are including stress and pressure factors, exercising simple drills fast precise and learning methods of deception must be part of your combat training activities. But not forget that all this without the situational awareness are 0
