That caulk between the trans cover and the floor is the same strips used on the aluminium panels to the woodwork or on land rovers. But when I did ours I used butyl sealant as its just as good. I just taped the joint in case of squeeze out and possible carpet staining. I also put plenty of sound deadening down and a layer of 8 mm epdm closed cell sponge to stop the drumming. It worked well its warm and quiet in there now. But ours is my daughters daily drives it needs to be!
The Engine was Green from factory on the morris minor.
