Reflections on CZ's new (to the US) top-of-the-line Limited / Standard pistol. The only mod being an extended-shelf thumb safety (from the TS2 Bronze) swapped in.
I had commented on your last video, that I also recently purchased a CZ TS 2 Orange. Primarily I Shoot at an indoor range, purely for accuracy at diatances from 25 to 50 yards. This pistol is super accurate. From 25 yards, (Two hands, Standing unsupported, "slow fire") using Blazer Brass 124gr fmj , I shot a 5 round group measuring 1" into the Bullseye 3" diameter X-ring! The smallest group I had ever shot before was 1.5" with a Sig Sauer P220 9mm.
Yes indeed, Precision - I remember your last comment & my reply. That is certainly some excellent marksmanship there ! Just finished cleaning my TS2O tonight - and seeing how long the internal rails are, and how tight the slide to frame fit is, and the long 5.2" barrel, and that snap trigger ... the pistol certainly lends itself to getting out of it whatever you can. Keep up the good work !
I was fortunate to be able to pick up the TS2 Deep Bronze and it's phenomenal. I use it for USPSA and 3 Gun. I've got about 5000k rounds through it now and it just keeps putting a smile on my face. It's one, if not the, most fun guns I've ever shot and I own a bunch. I have 2 STI (Brazos Customs) and a Staccato and I'll take the TS2 over all of them. My only two complaints, and one is minor. One, the mag release gets gummed up very early and needs to be removed to get cleaned properly. Two, getting parts is damn near impossible. Hopefully CZs reputation with reliability will go with the one I own.
Hi Sam. Thanks for commenting / participating ! Never seen live or shot the TS2 Bronze - but I do know that was the top-of-the-line TS pistol until they recently came out with the TS2O. And given how fantastic the TS2 Racing Green I previously owned was (and your Bronze is above that) - you indeed have one helluva shooter there ! I also agree that, for the price, the CZ TS's and Shadows are simply unbeatable in what they give to the performance shooting enthusiast. That says a tremendous amount that you'd put it above your Brazos' (which I know are superb customs & semi-custom 2011s). I do believe the CZ will give you years of great shooting ahead (their reliability is one of their best reputational points). But parts will indeed wear out. For parts & enhancements & accessories, let me recommend that you go to Eric Graufel shop in Europe, or X-Ray Parts in Italy (if not CZ's actual site in Czech or USA store) - they both seem to have good assortments & availability & ship for all-in low prices (regardless of being overseas). I used X-Ray for several items - most recently the extended ledge thumb safety. Keep up the good work & straight shooting ! Cheers !!!
@@PBPistoleer Thanks for the parts house sites. Also check out Toni Systems if you haven't already. I have their RDS mount and its machining is impeccable. What I'm talking about are factory parts....ie barrels, trigger bars, etc. What I am specifically looking for are things like a new slide. I have the dovetail mount for my RDS, but I would like to have it cut (which is very doable and there are plenty of shops that specialize specifically in doing this for the TS). With that said what I want a back up slide should something happen in cutting/shipping/afterwards/etc. Those such parts are impossible to locate and with the deep bronze being a lot different, with different parts, and also a "European sales only" pistol, even more so. Additionally the Deep Bronze is, not was, THE flagship of the TS line, even over the TSO. The Deep Bronze was specifically designed for CZs International IPSC Shooting Team with the members making the decisions on what they wanted on/in the gun. The obvious differences include a larger and lower rear safety lever to allows for a better "thumb ledge". A reprofiled, more ergonomic, front thumb rest (gas pedal) that is way different than with the RG and O, this was so it can be shot even faster. The takedown pin is also more profiled, and then there's the color. The internals are where the BIG differences really are. The first being the barrel. The profile, while still a "bull barrel", they're slimmer than what is was in the RG and O. They are hand picked and tested for accuracy and then they're polished inside and out for faster cycling. The biggest difference in the model is that ALL of the parts in the Deep Bronze are specifically hand selected for each gun and then hand fitted by a single smith...not on an assembly line like the other TS models in order to obtain the closest tolerances possible. You will immediately feel this upon picking one up. But again, being so different, it creates a problem with any issues that may arise.
@@samlind8330 Thanks, Sam, for the continuing excellent conversation. Yes, I know that the Bronze was a non-US / International offering that is/was their top TS offering. Now I understand your quandary regarding back-up parts - thanks for clarifying that. On that front, I can only suggest you email Eric Graufel Shop - it's his own retail outlet, but since he's THE MAN at CZ, I'd bet he can probably give you better guidance than anyone else regarding how to go about obtaining what you need. And, he / his team there DOES respond pretty actively to inquiries. So, best wishes with that ! As to the Deep Bronze is/was the top of the line, I respectfully (though I'm only 98% sure 😁) think I'm correct that the newer TS2O (not the TSO) - which was launched only early this year - is now CZ's top Limited offering. Pretty sure they discontinued the Racing Green & Deep Bronze - took all the best features from both - and added top-of-slide serrations, a true, full Bull Barrel (first in a TS) - a new guide-rod system for longer life - a changed angle of the gas pedal / thumb rest - and a raised thumb safety for stronger down torque. Eric Graufel (a CZ's Limited pro) was deeply involved in its creation & launch. At least, that's what the endless videos & articles I watched & read 1 year ago - 9 months ago led me to believe before I bought it. Regardless, good sir, you have a SPECTACULAR pistol - and I have a SPECTACULAR pistol. And I plan shooting it for a lot longer. I'm now 3,850 rounds in, still loving it, still getting to know it intimately, and have 0.0 regrets in its purchase. Gotta go work, now. Cheers, my friend ! PBP
My eskimo brothers! Lol. I have a TS2O in .40sw to take advantage of major scoring. It's still a very soft shooter in .40. I did add lok jaws brass grips and brass magwell to it. So it's even more heavy now, but it did shift the balance back into the hand more, which feels much better. It also got a dpm recoil spring. The buffers that came with the gun would shred at about 200-300 rounds and the gun would have to be forced into battery so i picked up the dpm to eliminate the buffer all together. I've only shot a couple matches so far with it, and like you, I'm focusing very heavily on speed right now. So im not shooting the best with it. Also coming back to irons from a dot is a transition as well. I'm hanging around mid "B" right now. I think for me "A" is out of reach this year. There's only 4 more matches til we shut down for winter up here by lake Michigan. Good video man. I'll be following to see your progress. Have someone record you at a match and let's see that orange in action! Good luck!
Hi Willy. Thanks a lot for your commentary - glad you like my content so far. Man-o-man your TS2O must be HEAVY ! I knew it was 50 oz when I bought it & like that weight-level a lot. But adding on both brass grips & a brass magwell, too - wow ! Yes - I would think that added weight will help with that stronger .40 recoil / muzzle rise. I'll just venture a guess that you're probably a bigger guy 😃, whereas I'm just a thin (but in very good shape for a 55-yr old geezer) 165-lb dude. I've heard very good things about those DPM recoil systems, so I much appreciate your positive feedback on those. You are a damn good shooter if you're a mid-B striving for an A qualification - congratulations on that ! I've only done 3 Action Steel competitions - but plan on doing at least 2-3 more this coming winter, when the FL weather turns really nice vs the brutal, humid, high heat from May thru Oct. Never done a qualifier - but I'm guessing I'm likely a mid/high-C-level shooter (only from a shooting accuracy & shooting speed perspective) ... whereas my novice level for movement, entries / exits, transitions & stage management probably brings me down to a high D or low C. Check out my latest video (from 2 Sundays ago) - the Range Session one - and let me know what you think about my guesstimate to my current status. That's the best of where I've currently gotten myself to. If I do (very likely) keep wanting to improve & get to a B, I think that DPM recoil system will be my next acquisition. Lastly - THANK YOU for commenting & sending me an interesting discussion. Cheers, my friend !
@PBPistoleer I'm trying to get better, but the difference between a high C/ low B and a high B/low A is really a giant leap i feel. Anybody A and up is like watching an action movie. Just so smooth with everything. I compared one of your action steel stage vids to the scores on one of my uspsa stage with a similar round count and time. I think you would have gotten a high C or low B for the stage. You look really solid for only having shot a few matches. I really couldn't offer any tips as i'm still trying to figure it out myself. I look at my older videos and realize how slow i was when i started. The high level shooters still beat me up on time but I have closed the gap some. That action steel looks fun. Like uspsa with smaller targets. I'll have to see if i can find one of those to shoot. Yeah the ts2 is very heavy now. I think its right about 64oz with a empty mag. I'm a muscle guy but im short. Think of a 200lb 43yr old leprechaun with bad knees and flat feet lol. So yeah it's heavy but you only gotta hold it up for 30-45 seconds at the most. Once the timer beeps you don't notice it. Good stuff man. Looking forward to more stuff from you. Cheers
@@willy4869 Thanks again for a really smart, thoughtful & helpful response, Willy. (1) Thanks a lot for your feedback about my Action Steel practicing vid. Yes, they are a ton of fun - recommend them highly if you can find one near you - and thanks for your feedback about what you saw. Much appreciated. (2) Climbing the ladder of improvement is arduous, rewarding, rough & up-n-down. I think you (and I) really just need to find the fun / love of shooting & challenging yourself & 'enjoying the ride'. The rest will take care of itself, as neither of us are going to become World Champions 😆- let alone GMs. (3) 64 oz is too much for me. But you are clearly good & comfortable with it - and that's all that matters. And you are definitely correct ... 45 seconds for a strong guy that works out hard really can't really be a big deal. Thanks for the very nice sentiments, my friend. Hit me up in advance of any trips down to South East FL - we'll definitely meet up & shoot ! Keep up the good work !
@PBPistoleer Thanks! Appreciate the back and forth here. You are 100% right on finding the love and enjoyment in the sport. I tend to become overly competitive with myself and suck some of the fun out it if i have a bad stage or match. And yeah, world champ is way out of the picture. I just don't have the resources to lay down 1000 rounds in a day or even a week. And it seems like the best of the best shoot that much and maybe even more. If i make it down that way I'll get in touch with ya. I love going to FL but I've only been to Bradenton, Orlando, and St Augustine. Do the same if you're ever up near Chicago, but I'm on the Indiana side of the border, so it's much safer, lol. Be safe out there, and happy shooting brother.
