I'm in a slightly similar situation to this man. I frequently used to work on cars at home, and still have some lying around. Being in a warmer climate, Australia, means that they are not as rusty but, even so, most car folk do not have the necessary welding skills. We wake up one day and realise that time has run away from us. We are no longer young and energetic. One thing that people fail to realise is that if not for people such as John, these cars, which he probably bought many years ago when they weren't desirable, would've been otherwise made into soup tins way back when. The cars may not be a proposition to restore, unless you are Pete C of Cortina City, but we should all thank John for the good source of spare parts that these cars now are. One of the main things that has prevented me from working on the cars I have over the years is mental health issues. I'm reminded of the old saying - "never judge someone until you've walked a mile in their shoes".
Well…. desirable … yes… being bought to be rebuilt….. hmmm.. doubt it. The owner seems to know his stuff except… he didn’t use much judgment in leaving them to ROT. Before being used/modified… they gotta be remanufactured.
maybe one of these that got them and didnt have the know how to either keep them in good condition or any idea on how to look after them .so many people think they can do car mechanics without any training

Especially the length of time they’ve been sat there, decisions should’ve been made a long time ago! Watta shame. 😢
Basically the guy is selling a scrapyard. Hope he's not got an extravagant holiday booked with the potential windfall from the sales! It'll be 1 night in a travelodge! Might get breakfast as well though!
Yikes !!! A 2.3 viva is rare, but an estate???? That engine went on to be the basis of the brilliant 2.3 used in the Group B Chevettes from 77 onwards. Remarkable to see one of those old Alfas, very rare even back in the day. Those 127 sports were very, very quick on the road, as long as they didn't disintegrate as they drove along!! The rostyle wheels on the green Mk1 Cortina and the gold Mk II were much desired in the 70s. Shame about the Mk1 escort, interesting he had no lowering blocks on the back, I wonder was she an E model? The MkII cortina 1600E were the business, usually with a black vinyl roof. Very quick. The sticker in the back is from the cafe in Last of the Summer Wine!! Great video !
Quite bizarre that the Alfa Arna, one of the most maligned and misunderstood cars of this lot is one of the few that is still standing straight on all four wheels.
Love this, always lots of comments about how can you let them rot but if I had the money and land, I’d have a ton of “one day” projects that I’d never get around to sorting, so I can see how this happens 🥲 good on John for realising he should sell up and brining in the best UK barn finder on UA-cam 👏
Sadly most of these are beyond restoration nasty old British weather has hammered them, why would you just let them rot away like that for all those years? .
Been left to long stored in the worst climate, great for spares now, not worth the investment into restoration those days are gone for these once great classics.
The marketing ploy for this little lot would be to advertise as "collector car's for sale all rust free (which in reality means - the rust embellishments are free, you only pay the asking price).
NOT BEING INTO CARS DONE GENUALY LIKE YOUR CAR VIDEOS BUT THIS WAS VERY INTERESTING AS OWNER KNEW ALL ABOUT HIS COLECTION.HAD A MARK 1 CORTINA SUPER MYSELF ONCE,WAS GREAT CAR BUT POOR STARTER IN THE MORNINGS,THANKS ENJOYED THIS VIDEO
When you see cars in this state I often think instead of stripping so parts off and scrapping them but get them out clean them up a bit then coat them in something to preserve them just as they are as a bit of art man vs nature start a new trend lol .. or maybe I'm just mad
All so rotten they're probably even beyond pulling out in one piece but a great collection especially the alfas and lancia..Drove a 127 gt years ago..had horrendous torque steer..Nice for ye being invited in and getting the bit of history as well.
I think its easy to say most of the cars are toast, why leave them for 30 years or so then decide to sell them 🤔 still enjoyed the video nice one colin. Looking forward to the next one 🙂
I admire the fella's enthusiasm, it's like he's talking about immaculate examples on a museum tour, sadly these are not going anywhere other than the scrappers. I could well imagine that the ground underneath these cars will be contaminated with all the fluids that have seeped out whilst they have rotted away. At best there could be some components and interior/exterior trim might be useful to anyone restoring similar models, that actually drive, but want period correct bits? The Arna has fared quite well, they looked like that at 3yrs old, and I don't care how big your Rose tinted specs are, they were terrible. That 1300 Escort Mk1 has snapped, I'm pretty sure they were not that shape from the factory. 23:20 - "standing here one can see the corrosion ..." I think thats pretty much true of them all mate!
It's a great collection of cars but a crying shame they have been so unloved ! One thing people do that actually makes things worse is throw tarps over the cars .it holds moisture in and rots them so much quicker than if they are uncovered .
This kind of car collecting is like having rotten teeth and smiling because you have a whole collection of them!
kelly..you made me laugh..cheers
Excellent analogy. Spot on!
yep. its a joke i cannot laugh at though.
I could go round any scrap yard in the UK & find cars in much better condition than this guy has in his collection, not worth anything
Think you’ll find he has the last laugh, one or two of these are fetching big money, even in this condition
I love the old chaps enthusiasm, sadly none of these lovely old cars can be saved 😢
Perhaps he will have to pay people to take them away!!!
Well, a couple of them could , maybe . Be hellish expensive though

@@jephsjalopies1344 Hi, yeah the Arna is still here and currently available.
Wow what a collection they would all come up good restored.
It would cost more than they are worth and you would need to win the Lottery to afford to do it
Come up good restored there must be at least 4 or 5 of them would snap in half trying to move them 😂
Love this, always lots of comments about how can you let them rot but if I had the money and land, I’d have a ton of “one day” projects that I’d never get around to sorting, so I can see how this happens 🥲 good on John for realising he should sell up and brining in the best UK barn finder on UA-cam 👏
Some really rare odd configuration cars there Colin .... Although would take really loads of money to put them right still cool video ....👍
They should have told him that the cars in the back garden are beyond repair
Did he used to work as a salesman for Arthur Daley?
Aye ,Arfur could make a silk purse out of a pigs ear & sell on for a " nice little earner"!
Nice video. Thanks for sharing.
Unfortunately due to the state of the cars the only thing worth saving is the field!
And even that’s contaminated by the cars rotting on it 😂
Well done for leaving them to rot! Not worth fuckall now so dream on with your easy fix bullshit, get the dustpan and brush. 😂😂🏁🇬🇧
He would have been alright if he collected Deloreans
I think he'd have found a way to kill even those.!
Sadly most of these are beyond restoration nasty old British weather has hammered them, why would you just let them rot away like that for all those years? .
10/20 years too late sadly
To cut the chase there all scrap rot as a pair only thing anyone would want is the v5
Been left to long stored in the worst climate, great for spares now, not worth the investment into restoration those days are gone for these once great classics.
Do you remember that add in the Cinemas, "If your car (looks) like this................it's knackered!"
If only they had been dry stored.
dry stored and well maintained ..
Wow such a shame people do this and let them rot that’s how cars become rare
Maybe 20 years ago, but I think they are beyond economic saving now... Real shame, but...
Nice collection of unloved rotten cars .
I see plenty of opportunity to restore one of those and put $60, 000 into a car that is now worth $15, 000.
Yes, wait until they’re scrap, then decide to sell! So much of this about sadly.
A super rare collection of RUST
