For this week's video, we're doing a good old fashioned TL;DR, where we're gonna talk about some of the weird ideas we've seen floating around the internet. Hopefully we can ease some people's worries before coming here. Fingers crossed :D
Simon and Martina I’ve wondered for years, why since you are in Japan you haven’t done TL;DR , or FAP FAP ooor WTF even for a nostalgia throwback, now I wake up with this, yeeeei. XD
Simon and Martina honestly I feel stupid and also enlightened because I used to be that person that said “Japanese people don’t care about anime or manga”.Stupid stupid me:)))
Please, please consider bringing TL;DR content back regularly. I really loved when you did these videos and binged them frequently. Thank you for this!!
i loved tldr too, but i dunno if regular trdrs would work now. i feel like when they started it was before (or, during) the big korea tourism boom, so there wasn't a lot of useful cultural content available. for japan though there is SO MUCH content, and with that a huge contingent of people who are going to pour in and "WELL ACTUALLY" the hell out of them no matter what they say. i'm not saying they shouldn't bring it back, just i understand if they don't want to lol
"We've been living in Japan for close to four years now" Oh my gosh... has it been that long!!! My late hubby and I used to watch starting towards your last year in Korea. It made him so happy to watch your adventures as he struggled with ALS taking his strength in 2017 and after he was gone I have continued watching just as we used to together. Today would have been his 40th birthday. Thank you both.
Not gonna lie, I double-checked and triple-checked the upload date thinking this was a recommended older video. Tears and smiles here from nostalgia and hearing that opening music
Would love a crash course in how to order ramen in Japan! Like, maybe the kanji of the most common types, how do you know when your order is coming, etc.
Rather than learn kanji learn hiragana and katakana. Almost everything on menus will have those and many other times you’ll find it over the kanji as a guide on how to read it.
I almost cried when I saw the TDLR intro and you guys were going back to your roots but then I realized it’s never gonna happen again...this was the last 😢
I remember when I was in college, I joined a Japanese club with my friends. There were these Japanese exchange students that were there because one of the Japanese professors asked them to come. I recall a group of students came up to one of them and asked what anime and manga she liked. She said that she's not really interested in that kind of stuff. I asked what she thought of America so far and what's she's been doing since she got here. She said she experienced a little bit of culture shock and saw a Maroon 5 concert. Then I thought she's a totally normal person! She put in so much effort to learn our language and is probably one of the lucky ones to be accepted into the exchange program. Yet, there she was, being bombarded with questions about anime. After that, I backed away from the club, because it wasn't a "Japanese" club, it was an anime club. I'm not against anime and manga, or anything like that. When someone learn about Japan through anime and manga all their life I can see how it can warp a person's sense of reality. But, I hope that people can separate their interests from reality a bit more...
I always feel like "Japanese Club" in college is just the professional name for "Anime Club". It's cool that y'all had exchange students but it's also a shame it all turned out all about anime. I hope the girl had a good time with the exchange program tho!
@@BAKAoLOVE I'm sure she did. She didn't really spend much time on weekly club meetings. Just the bigger club events, like our university-wide cultural festival. Before, our university had 2 Japanese professors. One supervised the anime club and the other professor looked after the Japanese club. Once the anime club professor left, they all migrated to the Japanese club. Within a year my friend, the Japanese club president, was switched to an anime-centered president. It's a shame, really. New members that are genuinely curious about Japan are deterred because of all the anime they watch during club time.
I love anime but always thought I was strange for liking it so much. I never really thought about the fact that regular Japanese people are as into cartoons as a nerd like me. Although tv and music is just as important there. I even learned some Japanese from watching so much anime and listening to j rock.
My college's Japan club was an anime club in disguise and everything was about anime, and maid cafe's and stuff like that and when I asked if we were going to talk about the history, or learn the language they all looked at me like "WTF" I was asked to leave.
@Violet 1998 S%t!...you just made me realize that I was like 12-13 when I subscribed to them. Now I'm 22, damn. It's been a long time coming. It's nice meeting a long-time fellow subscriber!💕
@Violet 1998 Don't worry, I'm the same way. When I initially subscribed to them, I didn't comment for a few years since I felt awkward commenting on videos. I've now gotten better since then though😂.
Red lipstick looks AMAZING on you Martina!! ❤️ Also, love the throwback tl;dr video, makes me nostalgic for watching your Korea tl;drs back in the day! 😊 These videos are my favorite!
1) Do you consider Japan as a highly developed and advanced country ? 2) How would you personally rate Japan (from culture to technology, architecture, food, local products, scenery/landscape, standard of living/quality of life, etc.) on a scale level of 1 to 10 ? 3) What is your overall impression with the Japanese people ? 4) If you have 3 words or more to describe Japan, what would it be ?
We are in Tokyo for the first time right now for my birthday(Sept 11) and have found some experiences awesome and some overwhelming. So glad we made it out here! Is definitely a memorable experience. Being a newer Nasty I wanted to thank you both for being awesome !

Thank you so much for validating nerdy kids desire to go to Japan. The internet is filled with so much hatred, labeling anyone who has interest in Japanese pop culture as a Weeaboo. It's so annoying. There's nothing wrong with liking Japanese pop culture and going to Japan just to experience it authentically.
I think people should just travel with an open mind and leave the country with a forgiving heart. Like no Country is perfect and every country is unique.

I missed TL;DRs so much!! The advice and info here was really helpful ( your TL;DRs usually are 🥰). It makes Japan seem like a more welcoming tourist spot. I also love that you guys always encourage others to unapologetically do what they love but also challenge themselves. Oh wow, I absolutely felt nostalgic seeing the TL;DR intro. I've been subscribed since you guys lived in Bucheon, so hearing that bahbahbahbuhbBAHbuhBAHbuh took me back! Loved this video, watching the secret videos now!
TL;DR IS BAAAAAAACK!!!! Also thank you so much for the part about not being ashamed of doing what you wanna do - I liked the phrase about everyone having their own “pilgrimage” haha
Ooo I missed TL-DR's and am so happy to see you guys bring it back! But I love all of the videos you guys do. I've been watching you for 10 years. Lots of love to you both Simon and Martina, thank you of all that you do. :)
I actually had to come back and comment as I found myself humming the TL:DR music to myself at lunch today. Forgot how it much it adds to my happy. Thanks for the throwback guys.
HUB!!!! My husband and i visited Japan not to long ago from Scotland and honestly we loved HUB. We went in as a joke but it was actually a near replica of what alot of our local village pubs look like here (was also the only place we found with decent cider on draft) it was so surreal we couldnt stop laughing it really felt like we had teleported back home for dinner.

Saw TL;DR and had to click. I’ve missed these so much.
Random question: If Simon and Martina were to dress up as any character, which character will they dress up as?
I took a double take because I love watching old episodes.

I own four red lipsticks, all slightly different, so you know I made an effort to get JUST the perfect match 👄 😉
Coco curry really needs to pay you guys because I hurried my ass over to one when I visited Japan because of you guys 😂

When they sing the Dada I was screaming

I know, right? I was like, "Tldr? 🤔 Tldr...? 🤨 TDLR!! 😱"
I double checked too 😂
Same hereee.....it's the whole reason I saw this comment cause I just stopped the vid to check lololol
Omg for a split second I thought I clicked on one of your old videos 😂
same I had to look at the date on it just to make sure
J. J. Hwang he wasn’t bald in their old videos lol quit your bs
Haha same, I haven't heard the tl;dr sound in forever.
Johnny Liu haha I think you read my comment too fast 😆 I was talking about the tldr intro, hence why I said SPLIT second
I didn't watch it as soon as it came our because of thought it was old xD

Also Simon: YOU EAT THE COCO CURRY OR GTFO OF JAPAN
Damien Glynn I lol’d!!! 😂😂😂
OH YEAH
but for reals, you gotta try it. it's good.
We got a Go Go curry recently and it’s a sad substitute for Co Co Curry. I’m gonna crave Co Co’s Cheese and Hamburg curry.
5:25 Inuyasha, Kohaku used a chain weapon. They used them in Kenshin as well.
Simon has literally NO idea how many we could name 😂
@@eatyourkimchi it's a fairly common weapon in Naruto too....

TLDRs and WTF. Were always my favorite content :D
These videos give me joy. Didn’t realize how much I’ve missed TL;DRs 💜
I missed you guys with the tldrs so much! I’ve been in a binge watching for your old videos so I though this was one of them! Omg the feels
To Simon: Kurapika from Hunter x Hunter uses a chain weapon. (You're welcome Martina)
Also, Astral chain is pretty obviously about Japanese police using chains (and evil robots) to attack.
Thank you. I plan to work on some older anime/manga collectibles and now have a new location for the trip
I understand Simon's passion for CoCo curry. There's a location a couple of miles from my house. Absolutely love it!
Yay! I miss TL;DR! That lipstick is amazing Martina!
And woooooo Raptors!
Missed your TL;DR! 😁😁😁😁😁 Very informative as always!
LOVED YOUR TL;DR VIDEOS!! Nice to hear travel tips like these from people who ACTUALLY LIVE THERE!
I’m having nostalgia for TLDR videos when I used to watch them on your website with other nasties while knitting and eating ramen and then I’d leave lots of love comments. I love that you revisited this :)
