Jamie Barton has an absolutely gorgeous voice! Definitely one of the greatest mezzos of her generation. Such rich, heavy and warm tone almost contralto-like. Oh, and that high B flat at the end!! Wonderful performance!!!
Ah yes -- the final "je t'aime" -- excellent
That high B flat at the end sounds like a cat's meow when you step on its tail, and is not in the score anyway.

BRAVA! This is one of my favorite arias and she does it incredibly. Diction was very clear and her voice is so silky. Saving this in my favorites :)
The phrasing and musicality bests ANY mezzo actually singing this full role onstage today. I said it. You get lost in the romantic lustrous orchestration blended with her voice. A lot of it is the mic and the mixing and placement of the mics etc and the hall, but come on, the voice and the orchestra have to be there for it to sound this phenomenal. She sounds just right. And that's hard to do with this being like the Quando men vo of mezzo arias. Everyone has heard it for over a century.
She sings in French so beautifully that you are under the impression she is a real French singer. Amazing!
The Americans tends to sing better in French than the French do.

On Sunday, February 19, 2017, I attended a music recital at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Encinitas, San Diego County, California. One young soprano sang in the recital. She had an amazing voice. I captured two videos of her singing. Her name is Cassandra Kevizian (Geuvjehizian?). I do not know if I spelled her name correctly. She is part Armenian. Her voice sounds better live, but the two videos give you a good idea of the quality of her voice. She is a petite lady, but has a big voice. She grew up in San Diego County. I do not have her contact information and I do not know her personally.
Please give her a listen. This is a great lyric soprano voice and she is at the beginning of a great operatic career if she decides to pursue one. Thank you!

Mostly gorgeous. I'm not completely convinced by the choice she makes on the high je t'aime at the end - but even that is impressive. But overall, marvelous.

Gorgeous enveloping voice, kind of reminds me of Horne timbre-wise but much warmer and more luscious. In terms of expression, I couldn't quite hear Dalila POUR with sensuality like she must do, but generally very good singing.
And that Bb5 should probably not be attempted again. She tried doing some kind of messa di voce on that note, but it just turned into one big strain.
Henry Carey Well it wasn't as bad as Horne singing that note for example. Horne sang it like someone stuck a hot poker up her ass.

She reminds me of Horne vocally, which is totally not a compliment. It's like she's trying to cough up a tennis ball stuck in her trachea.

Incredible voice and fantastic diction! Seems like she could barely handle the phrases though, as she breathe pretty often for such a subductive aria!

Well, at least this is the good colour for Dalila, a darkish contralto Fach. That's what Dalila is about. Forget about other self-proclaimed mezzos (where are the contraltos by the way?!)
Solo a me pare Che oltre ad avere una voce onestamente brutta, má brutta forte, e fare un uso smodato del suono in maschera e della nasalita, forse emulado l Altro incomprensibilmente célebre trombone nazionale passato alla storia come M. Horne, e, in fine, oltre a una dizione opaca e tutt Altro Che cristalina e una pronuncia orrida, dico, pare solo a me che l interpretazione sia di una sciattezza e volgarita inaudite?

I think, you have to be a hardcore fan of Jamie Barton to like this. Watch her face and her body language, does she even know what she is singing about?
Haha a Delilah of this size, if she makes an arm wrestling against Samson it is her who wins.

pathetic and horrible .... impossible to understand how so many people consider her to be even sublime: very unpleasant voice, intubata, ingolata, nasal up to vomit, raw, without grace, badly set up, badly pronounced, badly projected ... a real offense to the great goddesses who sang this aria in the past. I do not pronounce myself about the stunted final acuto. The audience goes crazy and applauds because by now it is completely unprepared and unaware of what opera and vocality really are. Shameful.
No problem with her singing and voice and musicality. But what about losing weight? It is nice to listen to her, but honestly it is not so nice to watch her.
Than close your eyes and just listen. She needs this body to be able to do the great things she does
