Louisville (pronounced LEW-iss-vill) is a city in Winston County, Mississippi. The population was 6,631 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Winston County.
As of the census of 2000, there were 7,006 people, 2,641 households, and 1,817 families residing in the city. The population density was 464.5 people per square mile (179.4/km²). There were 2,884 housing units at an average density of 191.2 per square mile (73.8/km²).
The racial makeup of the city was 46.29% White, 52.46% African American, 0.13% Native American, 0.17% Asian, 0.44% from other races, and 0.51% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.66% of the population.
There were 2,641 households out of which 34.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 40.4% were married couples living together, 25.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.2% were non-families. 28.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 14.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.55 and the average family size was 3.12.
In the city, the population was spread out with 28.9% under the age of 18, 9.3% from 18 to 24, 24.7% from 25 to 44, 19.8% from 45 to 64, and 17.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females, there were 80.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 73.8 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $27,485, and the median income for a family was $31,750. Males had a median income of $29,951 versus $17,491 for females. The per capita income for the city was $15,857. About 24.8% of families and 28.5% of the population were below the poverty line, including 39.3% of those under age 18 and 20.9% of those age 65 or over.

Louisville is my hometown! I've lived here my entire life, and have never wanted to live any place else! This video is not very old. There are no trees lining Main Street, and they were removed only 4-5 years ago. And the Dome has been built. The Dome is actually a community storm shelter. We were hit by an F-4 tornado in April 2014. The damage was massive and there were 10 fatalities. But we have come back strong. We have a small hometown resort, Lake Tiak O'Khata, one of the top rated Mississippi restaurants right on Main Street, Market Cafe. And there is a boutique hotel on Main Street now, The Mason. And there is a modern hospital and medical facility, good schools and industry. We are a small town, but there are lots of good things going on here.

This monument to Winston County's support of the Confederacy, the Spanish American War and World War I is found in the middle of the intersection of Main Street and Columbus Avenue in Louisville, MS. The monument was unveiled on July 4, 1921.
Hometown
I have never visited Mississippi, but after watching these videos I want to come visit. The downtowns I saw still have a pleasant old fashioned look to them but people are shopping there and they seem to be doing the upkeep. Driving in Mississippi looks like it would be so pleasant, moving right along on those smooth well maintained highways. For a point of reference I looked at Google Maps to see where the towns and cities that I visited electronically were. I subscribed to the channel and look forward to watching more.
Thanks William! Mississippi has a lot of bad stigma, some is true some isn’t. But, there are a lot of nice communities throughout the entire state. If you haven’t watched it, look up the video I made on crystal spring. It’s a really nice little town. I appreciate your support, thank you again! 👍🏻🙂

Hey 601 TRAVELS, The last time I came to Louisville (which was back in 2012) I remember seeing that statue in the middle of the road.. I also remember seeing that mural painted on the wall.. I wish you would come back to Magee and make another video of Magee soon.. Maybe you can come back to Magee downtown when there's more traffic downtown!!!!!!!! I'm hoping to see the video of Corinth soon too!!!!!!

I’m late but my hometown
The town of Louisville looks pretty and peaceful was interested in knowing how's the cost of living are the residents friendly to strangers. The town looks like something from the past with it's charm and history. Any info that anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated.
It is a nice little southern town. Very laid back. It’s the kind of town you can get a 3/2 house for well under $100k and avoid all the big city problems. Gotta watch the weather though as the area is vulnerable to strong storms and tornadoes. Thanks for watching 🙂
