My girlfriend and I purchased the 38fkok 5months ago and we love it the sink isn’t as bad as it seems we leave it half covered till we do the big pots or pans. The storage is awesome we fit a ton of stuff in there. The ac works great we haven’t gotten the chance to run them both at the same time but one definitely keeps it cool. The full size fridge is nice to have. And the switch on the front is for a blue light above the hitch.
LOVE the floor plan… this is meant for hospitality and interaction. Whoever is at the sink never has their back to family or guests… a feature I love!
I would say the reason that forest river puts the sink fixed in the middle, it’s because there are other units with the sinks that move in the slide had continuous problems with drains, hoses etc. I was an owner of one of those RVs and for the entire 13 years I owned it it was a continual problem.
Beautiful unit. I personally would like a little more space around my sink for dishes and a drying rack.
My thoughts exactly! I do plenty of dishes so I instantly thought of the dripping on the floor
Agreed
I’d switch for a Queen and be happy to take the tighter wardrobe area to open it up. Nice rig
I love the front kitchen like that, it makes it look alot bigger. Plus a dedicated living room.
Yeah. I’m definitely not a fan of the small sink area in the middle of the kitchen. You were spot on with pointing out the large area where it could have been. I still love the FK layout, though. Great floor plan.
You always do such a great walk around. This is a beautiful rig. Way more than we would ever want.
Really awesome rv,that kitchen is sweet. Wish the outside was different as far as color. Washer and dryer by the toilet. Honey I'm missing a couple pairs of socks, lol oh maybe that's why our toilet is backed up lol fun vacation 😆lol
Great Kitchen to make Food in, but No Table for Eating at!!
This was my second choice before I bought the 378 FLOK. I loved the counter space in this kitchen. However one thing I didn't like is there is no fan over the stove. My FLOK came with a nicer oven and 4 burner stove. By the way sir there are 6 slides on this unit. Also this is slightly heavier than mine but I've had no trouble pulling mine with a three quarter ton SRW. But I am not pulling it across country. Mine does not have storage under the bed though I wish it did. The mattress folds back so you can pull the slide in. It was a tough decision between the two but I'm sure I could adapt either way.
Yah my 38fkok doesnt have storage under the bed either.. looking into doing some carpentry work to it so i can use that space.
That sink would drive me nuts. I need space on at least one side to put the actual dishes, both clean and dirty.
I would prefer the sink on the middle island because that very big buffet area on that slide is convenient. I would turn that into a bar and sometimes use it to put food etc
love this unit as a single guy its the perfect party place for me when camping
Love this floor plan and am glad the window treatment stops at the top.
The sink as set, is a deal killer for me.
the rig look great, sink placement is off as you said, washer dryer over the toilet is weird, suspension needs an upgrade for sure. great video thanks for pointing out the 1 ton SRW/DRW truck potential.
Are rack and pinion slides more trouble free? I guess you should remember to hook up the sewer hose before deploying the slide. I like the side opening baggage doors. The kitchen is taco bar friendly! Reading the news on your I Pad is a thing as well as watching BTBRV videos!😂
I like front kitchen floor plans and the sink in the island works for me. I would prefer to have a vent hood over the stove though. I also like the bar/eating area instead of a dining room table. Nice unit
I have this camper and really miss having a vent fan. Thought maybe it would have a fan of some sort but nothing. Ended up just getting a small rotating fan and then open up the roof vent..
I agree with the sink location but there is still a beautiful practical kitchen
I like that they are still putting a nice outside kitchen. I don't know why a lot of manufactures are getting rid of them.
I agree with the sink being on the slide out. It would open up the kitchen area and allow for a better flow throughout the space.
I love it! I’m not a huge island fan at all, nor am I a fan of TV while camping. I’d just as soon have the sink under the window and no island in the middle.
110% agree about the kitchen sink and faucet placement. There is zero room to put dishes after you wash them. On our trailer we have a clean dish thingy, lol, where they drip dry and all the water runs back into the sink. Zero room for that here.
The sink is always in the front cap and the refrigerator is on the slide out in other units. The small sink is awkward but by doing it it gives you more prep area. What I really like is that there isnt anything blocking the back of the 2 chairs. In other units the fridge sticks out and limits how far you can move the chair back, way more fluffy friendly. Giving the limited size on the side of the bed I am glad the W/D isnt in the bed room. Being next to the toilet I would just DIY a table with folding legs. Since the door slides you would cover the toilet and have a place to fold cloths. That's alot of trailer for 65k seems like a very good price.
Six coffee makers? Sounds like my kind of RV! 😂
Wow, that’s a big unit! Perfect for full time living without the 100k+ price tag.
IWHAT A KITCHEN! They did an amazing job with this layout but I do agree about the island. I prefer bar stool space in these front KIT units so you have that all important hang out space! A third a/c unit in the KIT would be MUCH better since it can get rather hot cooking in any RV during warmer months. I would even be happy with a ceiling fan. But I tell ya…I haven’t even finished the video & I’m sold on this one!
Thanks for the interesting video. Looks a great unit, one thing missing for me though, nowhere to put your cup of tea by the bed in the morning!
KH (UK)
I’m putting a dishwasher in mine. In the living area I’m removing a couch and creating my off space.
My only real issue is the bedroom closet space. I’m 5’2 and I hang most of my clothes. I’ll have to lower the closet bar so I can reach it. I’ll put shelving above the bar for more storage. I may build additional closet space that will cover a portion of the window.
The king size bed will be replaced with a queen so I can access the drawers and have a small side table.
Absolutely LOVE this fifth wheel!!!!
Good god! That kitchen! Beautiful
I love your channel. You do an exceptional job. My two cents suggestion is: Please give a price range at the beginning of your video for all items to be reviewed.
The wide open middle area is great . Very very nice .
I like that floor plan a lot. But I definitely agree with you on the kitchen they should have put the sink in another slide.
My feedback is... I don't like the water heater outside the bedroom slider/window. I have a Sandpiper 365 SAQ. Exhaust from the heater has a tendency to come up in through the windows into the living space, and is very unpleasant - especially in the bedroom where your head is right next to the window, which is exactly the case in this 38FKOK. Also, dining for two in something that sleeps potentially 6, seems a bit odd.
"TOILET SOCKS" would make an excellent band name.
The Super Slides is another.
Or maybe Goodyear Endurance, lol
W/D in bathroom is great! I really like this one!!
That outside kitchen is better than my inside kitchen 😫
The sink counter is probably narrow to allow room for the retracted slides. You could probably put a wider cabinet in if the cabinet was turned 90° - where the person using the sink is facing one side or the other instead of straight back towards the living area.
To keep the MSRP down no installed generator and cameras. The size is humongous and has to be a beast to drive.
Love this Floorplan. Love the kitchen sink on the island.
I do like this floor plan, there are a few things I’m not fond of, the kitchen sink placement or maybe not the placement but more room to place dishes to dry when done washing, washer and dryer placement is odd as well and in the bedroom not enough space to walk around bed especially to use the drawers and to make the bed. I’m disabled so I look for the ease and ability of what I need to be comfortable. Love the shower, putting seats/benches in shower is awesome, love all the room in the living room, so open and airy. Thank you for sharing!
I really like the floor plan. I'm always torn between a front living and a front kitchen floor plan. I think though that I lean a little more towards the front living floor plan.
Love the consistent videos
I like it so much no changes to be made
I agree w the kitch island...they should move the sink to that big counter space and make the island into another barstool area. Only way this "works" is if the person buying it installs a dishwasher somehow bc you have zero room to set clean dishes to air dry. Cool 5th wheel though!!!
This coach has it all... only thing is that sink in the kitchen. I agree with you about that . That really is a deal breaker for me . Other than that pretty nice.
Awesome informative Video experience Y'alls God Bless Ya 🙌🙏👍
Agree about the sink. Too bad they didn't at least provide a flip up counter to provide drain/work space. I like your overviews of RVs, pleasantly narrated and to the point.
When it comes to sink placement both my wife and myself agree with you. I'd rather have a window view and use the island as just a placement or work area.
Thanks As Always🇺🇸
Great idea regarding the kitchen sink
Love to see a class c really would like to find your favorite floor plan this year
Love this one. Agree about the sink.
Doing dishes in the island would be difficult due to no counter top space. Maybe move the fridge to the slide and put the sink in the front. Lots of counter top space so no difficulty with dinner prep.
Very nice interior, practical storage and utilities (especially the outside kitchenette), didn't see a washer/dryer area, kind of a make or break when I'm deciding now.
Agree on the sink in the island
I have the 2020 Grand Design Solitude 390RK. My sink isn't in my island..love it that way. I believe this was the only year they made my design. 2021 they made changes. While this one is simular I think I have more storage inside and outside.
I bought this camper back in august 2021 to full time live in. There is some stuff that could be different to the unit but over all it works great for myself. If anyone has any questions let me know.
How well is the insulation for holding temps? Any issues to look out for?
I really like the sink where it is and the overall floor plan. Would like cpap space.
yah not very much storage on the bed sides for phone or machines..
Wow this is an amazing product for the price point...
If nobody covered it, the mystery switch on the front is for the LED decorative clearance lights on the front cap.
I understand that that the sink/plumbing cannot be put into a slide, as the plumbing cannot be moved around. However, in this case, I would have tried to make the sink island larger somehow. I would need space on the sides, too.
I kinda like the sink in the island and router top be clear on the slide out since the plumbing would have to flex in and out each time you opened the slide. Also the shower be bigger and relocate the W/D. if you full time, mama "might" want to get in with you once in a while....other than that; I LIKE A front kitchen layout
That is a nice unit. I could see myself with that one.
I would prefer the island just be for prepping. Also would like a different layout with more room in the bathroom.
6 coffee stations feels like overkill. All that caffeine can't be good. How about a popcorn or slushee machine?
Slow cookers or instant pot stations for game day or holiday traffic too
As soon as I seen the TV 4 inches from the ceiling I knew I would never buy this unit bad design , trying to locate it where it could be seen from the kitchen., other than that it’s a great unit even with the sink on the island there’s plenty of room next to the cooking /top stove,But you would have a broken neck from trying to watch the TV we wishing for it to be 2 feet lower
I wonder if it would be hard to utilize the washer and dryer in that location. Dealing with the toilet right there might be troublesome.
Very nice fifth wheel I like the floor plan
Good Brand tires, just needs a higher Rating. Nice that the Breakfast Table faces the T.V. I think, too, that the Sink on the Island should be on the Other counter. Good job, thanks.
I looove this one!!!
That kitchen is bigger than mine, wow 😯
A bit huge to go camping, but full time it would be optimal.
Great idea if the kitchen sink if it was on the side and a island in the middle would be flat table
Move the sink to the side and loose the island altogether.
That fifth wheel will look 👀 will good behind our F550 super duty 4x4 duly
When is Grand Design going get on board with the “Light and bright” look. Brown? Carpet? Ugh. Love the unit. Hate the color brown. And I agree on the tire size. Should be better tires. Love your channel
I like the floor plan. But as big as it is, it should have another bathroom. 1/2 bath would be nice
I think its better to have the sink stationary, no moving line with the slide. I almost wish they did away with the camp side kitchen slide and do a L-shaped counter instead of all the open floor. This would give a little more cabinet space and be one less slide to maintain.
they should make a electric stovetop and wall oven for people that can't bend down to put stuff in the oven
I know one thing, the person that designed that kitchen sink has never done dishes.
Agree 100% about the valences that come down. My in-laws have them on their camper and they scuff and break and my kids hit their heads. Never mind that they just look dated.
I've toured this unit with the wife and compared it to the FLOK, basically the same unit but with a front living and a massive front window. We found a lot of benefits swapping them. Would love to know what you think.
I wish I could afford one find property to park it on and live in it has better features than a lot of apartments.
Absolutely great floor plan the kitchen and living areas sold me but i agree the sink is not in a good place.... where would I set the clean dishes? Prep work as well would be difficult away from sink. Also I wish the master bedroom was not so cramped.
you correctly I prefer the sink over near the window and the island just to be solid..
It would be interesting to know the pin weight with a fully stocked kitchen (food, cookware, appliances.etc) and a full refrigerator. Likely well unto dually territory.
Probably not "well into" but certainly rather close to dually territory.
I say this is dually material!
Ya, I like that one
I agree with you regarding the sink in the kitchen.
Love everything except the sink I do a lot of cooking and so where to put a dish drainer.
I would prefer to trade some kitchen space for bedroom space. Everything appeared roomy until we got to the bedroom where it was just too cramped for my liking.
I don't know if you have done one already but have you ever done a review for travel apps for your phone?
Another very good video review. Overall I'm impressed with what you get for the price. I'll steal a line from Matt's RV reviews and give you the 3 likes and 3 dislikes. Likes are the outside kitchen, kitchen counter space, and kitchen storage. Dislikes are lack of a 3rd A/C, washer/dryer location, and kitchen seating capacity.
So JD: What were those black ring type things called that you shared a while back that cover the holes where you're plumbing connections run though In the floor underneath your sinks, etc..
You showed them on your rodent prevention video along with the steel wool. I'm either describing them wrong( which I'm sure is the case) but, can't seem to find what you were showing. The mice really did a number on our trailer over the winter ( and rats?). Even getting up in the ceiling , chewing up insulation into our A/C units and those white plastic unscrewing port holes for the a/c throughout the RV! Anyway, any help with what they are called, my wife and I would appreciate it. We're in the middle of a thorough cleaning and disinfecting job as we speak! 😱 Thank you for your time.
This reminds me of the RV from the Lorax.
6 slide unit I like
Is it possible to put a kitchen sink in a slide? I imagine the drain pipe would be a challenge.
The kitchen sink placement bugs me.
