@@SPL I just ordered aquacheck...this video seems they are much closer than the hth. And I like it tests for more. And you get 100 strips...i may get a liquid kit later. But we have always used strips...im able to read the strips well
Help!..... 4700 gal generic 15' Walmart issued pool. Filtered pump, Saltwater pump and water is dark green. 4-way test strip = Free Chlorine 1, pH 7.8, Total Alkalinity 240, Calcium Hardness 250. frustrated. Any guidance you could give me would be appreciated...thanks
You will need to dump a large amount of chlorine in the pool - maybe 3-4 gallons and run it 24 hours until it clears and the chlorine holds. What is the CYA (conditioner) level?
I have never found the alkalinity reading to be reliable. The color after dipping tends to stay a brighter green rather than darken to the appropriate color. I have alo used the digital trutest by aquachek and it gives very accurate results for the CL and pH, but never gives a proper ALK reading. The device it's self is spot on, but like I said, the ALK solution doesn't react as precise as the other solutions on the strip.
Oh definitely. Most solutions have been spot on in my experience, except the ALK. If the strip shows me 80. The five way test kit will show me 120. Again, only the ALK solution on the strips seem faulty. The TC, FC, pH, CYA are all spot on for the AquaChek.
I have the hth strips they come in a bottle now. I'm wondering do they read higher than the taylor kit
Should be about the same

Test strips are not perfect but they serve their purpose.
