Living With Dyslexia For Seven Decades: Superpowers Or Super Painful?

"Little Johnny Stories" is an autobiographical documentary series being created by Producer Director, Johnny Brown. This series documents some pivotal experiences in his life as he tried to cope with and understand his learning difficulties, Dyslexia. While some may choose to believe that all individuals with Dyslexia have "superpowers" and skills that typical readers do not have ie so called "Dyslexic Thinking", actual peer-reviewed research and life experiences by the majority of people with Dyslexia show that to be merely wishful thinking. Dyslexia is a learning difficulty; however, it is fully remediable with scientifically tested and proven programs (see episode 1). Yet, for Little Johnny, there were no such programs available. During this episode, our discussion Q&A invites viewers to join us as we learn more about the life experiences of Johnny Brown as he coped with and suffered from challenging life events related to his Dyslexia. Imagine his surprise when in 2020 he found out, at the age of 67, that there was actually still a chance to empower his literacy, language and learning skills.
Join us as we discuss with Mr. Brown what it felt like to be empowering his reading and spelling skills for the first time in his life at age 67 years old. Mr. Brown's "Little Johnny Stories" are an example of the life-lived, painful experiences of Dyslexia that is all too common historically and still today. However, his choice to take the "Dyslexia Challenge" and empower his literacy skills and abilities at age 67 is a story of persistence and passion of the human spirit to be the best version of ourselves that we each can be. As we discuss this journey with Mr. Brown, Dr. Conway and Stephen Yearout will provide scientific and advocacy information along with Mr. Brown's powerful life story.
