Smoked Ham | Pit Boss Pellet Smoker
Вставка
- Опубліковано 15 сер 2024
- In today's video we are talking smoked ham on the Pit Boss pellet smoker! The ham we used was a hickory smoked ham, but you know I had to add some more smoke using my Pit Boss pellet smoker! I glazed my smoked ham with a peach bourbon glaze, and it really made this smoked ham flavor POP! If you have never cooked a double smoked ham on your pellet smoker, you're missing something special! To be completely honest, I am not a ham person, but I really did enjoy this cook, and I hope you do too! If you enjoyed this video, be sure to like, subscribe, and ring that bell so you don't miss my next video! Plus, it really helps my channel!
The Prep:
-The prep on this smoked ham was easy. I started off with a binder of SuckleBuster Peach BBQ sauce, and then seasoned the smoked ham with SuckleBusters Sugar Daddy! That was it!
The Cook:
-I fired up my Pit Boss Austin XL, and ran it at 250º the entire cook. I opted to use Bear Mountain Cherry Pellets for my fuel. I even lit up my A-MAZE-N smoke tube, for just a bit extra smoke.
-I cooked the ham for an hour, and checked for color. I didn't bother to spritz as there was plenty of moisture on the ham during the smoke.
-Once the ham reached an internal temperature of 120º, I made the glaze. The glaze consisted of:
-1/2 cup peach preserves
-1/2 SuckleBusters Peach BBQ sauce
-A "shot" of Bulleit Bourbon
-I warmed the glaze on the stovetop just to burn off some of the alcohol, a thin it down to a looser consistency.
-I then glazed the ham every 10-15 minutes until the internal temperature read 140-145º (about 3-3.5 hours).

Ham looks amazin! Bet it taste even better!! I've never gave it a thought to use my smoker tube standing up, great idea. Keep up the awesome videos.
Hey Mark, sorry for the late reply. Thanks so much man, and yeah! Standing smoke tube does pretty good!
Trying this recipe tomorrow. Using Orange marmalade in place of the peach preserves. My wife is not a fan of peaches. I have the same Sucklebusters seasoning locally at Scheels.

Thank you Mazie! 🔥
You had me at peach and bourbon lol
Everything is better with bourbon! Haha! Sorry for the late reply James!
Try this with a HoneyBaked ham from the store with no glaze on it. I buy them with no HoneyBaked glaze and then follow this recipe it’s awesome
I will definitely be trying this.
Man, it's good! Please let me know how it turns out for you!
@@AshKickinBBQ absolutely. That’s gonna be one of our Easter hams. I’ll also be doing the turkey but not until thanksgiving.
@@djmathis4006 awesome! I was hoping to squeeze in another ham video before Easter, but I don’t think I’ll be able to sadly. Perhaps a steak video this week...we shall see. You’re gonna love that turkey for thanksgiving man, it’s so dang good!
@@AshKickinBBQ I smoked the best steaks I ever have yesterday. I marinated them for 24 hours in allegro Tennessee whiskey marinade and then on the Austin XL at 250 until I got the temps I wanted.
@@djmathis4006 wow, that sounds fantastic! I have yet to do a whiskey steak yet, but I’ve heard wonderful things! May have to do a video in the future on that, lol!
Any alternatives for the rub and bbq sauce used? This looks good but I need something realistic in price to buy from Amazon or a grocery store.
You can buy SuckleBusters on Amazon
Great looking ham!
Thank you so much! 🔥
What would you recommend to spritz if the ham needed it?
I like peach juice!
When you let it rest did you leave it open sir or did you wrap it up
Tent loosely
Looks incredible! Can’t wait to try this. How big was your ham?
Thanks so much 🔥. It was about 10 pounds
She’s a beaut, Clark
So I wanted to make a double smoked ham but I won't have time to do it the day of could I double smoke it and reheat and glaze it in the oven a different day?
I mean you'd essentially be reheating it twice, which probably isn't advised. You could just do this recipe in the oven.
What if I just put it on the smoker for a couple hours and didn't necessarily heat it up just to give it more of a smokey flavor
@@drakealdrich6299 to be honest, you’re playing with good safety at that point. I personally would not risk it.
Well I'm glad I asked because that was my plan thanks for the video and the replies your the man
@@drakealdrich6299 you’re very welcome brother, always happy to help! The nice think about starting with a smoked ham is that it does have some smoke flavor. Another recommendation I can make is perhaps using a sweet and Smokey bbq sauce in with the peach glaze, that will help give smoke flavor if you were to do it in the oven. Either way, I hope it turns out well, and I hope you and yours have a wonderful holiday season!
Why worry about internal? Is that just your preference? I mean, it’s already cooked.
Because for food safety standards it has to be reheated to a certain temperature, and you also don’t want to dry it out.
Where can I buy that seasoning?
Links are always in the description.
any idea how much of those hams can fit on there?
Quite a few
Did you use bone in or boneless?
Bone in
@@AshKickinBBQ thanks man
Those smoke tubes don’t work worth a damn..
Sounds like operator error to me. Mine worth great.
@@AshKickinBBQ u light it from the bottom or top?
Make sure you have dry pellets and I use an electronic heat gun.(the type that used to remove paint) let it burn vertically for 5 min.
@@jakehoerner4529 I light from the open spot. I use a blow torch
